Chapter 231
Slave B from Devonshire Camp and Survivor 1 were standing at the outskirts of Benton, the capital.
They were trembling atop the bell tower, which overlooked the ruins of the old city.
Slave B was nothing more than a disposable pawn in case Survivor 1 found himself in danger.
He had been looking for an opportunity to escape, but with the streets crawling with monsters, it wasn’t an easy task. In the end, he had been dragged all the way to the bell tower.
‘If the monsters keep behaving like that, even if he uses me as a shield, survival won’t be easy…’
Below the bell tower, the monsters swarmed.
Their mouths hung open, eagerly waiting for the two of them to fall. It was a sickening sight.
“You idiot. Hurry up and pour it. Or I’ll throw you down as their meal.”
At Survivor 1’s command, Slave B hesitated, anxiety written all over his face. The hand clutching the vial was still trembling.
“This… This is really the suppressant for controlling the monsters, right?”
“It’s a suppressant. They said it’ll make them docile. We just need to test it. If it fails, the higher-ups will just develop a new one.”
“O-Okay…”
Slave B swallowed his unease.
Right. If this was just another failed experiment, then it wouldn’t have any effect at all. He just had to complete the mission and then escape on the way back.
That was what he naively believed.
Neither of them could have imagined that the drug’s side effects would be amplified in a completely different way.
And so, Slave B scattered the liquid from the vial onto the monsters gathered below.
For a moment, nothing happened.
The monsters showed no unusual reaction, continuing to thrash and wail, desperate to devour them.
Then, the late-summer winds picked up.
The wind carried the scent of the liquid further, spreading it beyond the initial group of monsters. More creatures began reacting to the peculiar scent.
That’s when things started to go terribly wrong.@@novelbin@@
Dududududu—
A low rumble shook the ground.
What do you think?
