Chapter 248
I realized that so much had happened, and there were many things I needed to explain to Harrison.
An awkward silence hung in the air as Harrison shot a disapproving glance at Ethan before turning his attention to me.
"What’s with this atmosphere? Miss, why don’t you explain?"
The look on Harrison's face as he interrogated me was chilling.
I had always been weak when it came to him directly questioning me like this. Moreover, Harrison had an uncanny ability to read situations.
I looked at Ethan, silently asking for help.
But Ethan, with his bright smile, simply tilted his head as if to say, "Are you sure you want me to explain this?" He looked like he was waiting for me to take the lead.@@novelbin@@
Seeing that expression, I felt uneasy about giving up control of the conversation to him, so I ultimately decided against asking for his help.
As I pondered how to explain everything to Harrison, one of Harrison’s knights spoke up.
"Excuse me for interrupting, but Lady, have you met Lord Theodore?"
His question was a bit strange. Why was he looking for Theodore? This was suspicious.
I gave him a distrustful look, and only then did Harrison introduce him properly.
"Oh, this is Lord Theodore's knight, Sir Orlando."
Harrison's face was clearly frustrated, not only because Orlando's question had interrupted his interrogation, but also because he couldn’t press me further because of Orlando’s involvement.
Feeling somewhat awkward from my previous scowl toward Orlando, I scratched my cheek and spoke to him.
"Lord Theodore is taking shelter in the basement of this building, along with other survivors."
"Are there any knights there as well?"
"Yes."
"I’ll go down and return shortly."
What do you think?
