Lydia
Lydia. The only friend that Ahko ever had, when she heard about the news from the guild about Ahko's G rank, she was shocked that a person could get that low of a rank, but the first time she met Ahko when Ahko is trying to find a party, Ahko is one of if not the most kindest and genuine girl she had ever met. From that day on she decided to be her friend, her only friend. Many people try to convince her not to be friends with a girl who can't do anything, but she ignores all of them. In her eyes, Ahko is like an angel, even when she's bullied, tortured, and humiliated. She always has that smile on her face.
When she heard that Ahko's parent had been killed by some random thugs and Ahko didn't have money to pay the bill for her house, she decided to let Ahko live in her house, this caused some confusion amongst everyone, a receptionist girl from the guild is housing the G rank? For what? From the day she lets Ahko live in her house, she too gets bullied because of that but not too that much unlike Ahko.
Ahko disappearance months ago makes her very worried, even though she always treated her right, she just disappears in thin air. Is she leaving and start a new life somewhere? That can't be possible, she can't even get a job because of her rank. Did she killed by someone? If she did, her body should've been found right away, and why would someone kill a person who didn't have any connection besides Lydia? Did she get kidnapped? That seems like the obvious answer, Lydia searched every corner of the city and she found nothing.
Every night she always thinks about what happened to Ahko, Lydia really cares about her she really does but it looks like Ahko may have reunited with her parents. Until months later when she heard the 4 men talking about them raping and torturing a G rank girl. In that moment her worriness decreased and increased by tenfold. Now she knows Ahko is still alive, she is relieved by that but that wouldn't last for long because she knows, Ahko has been tortured and raped for months. It's better to just die than continue living like a slave.
She relived when she heard the 4 men were going to kill her, ending her misery once and for all. She hoped Ahko reincarnated with a better life. But a day goes by and she has never seen those 4 men. Usually, they go to the guild to drink beer even in the daytime. Did something happen? Did they fail? Did they forget to go to the guilds?
Then, a mysterious figure walks into the guilds. He or she walks to the mission board, gets 2 mission papers, and walks to her section. She greeted them like any other adventurer but when she saw one of the missions was destroying the goblin dungeon, she was confused. Where is their party? There's no way they gonna destroy the dungeon alone.
The figure talks, it's a girl. She tells her she's going to destroy that dungeon alone. Alone!? She's going to destroy that dungeon alone!? Her words spark like wildfires, suddenly everyone heard this in just a couple of minutes. She must be a B or even an A rank! Rarely anyone above the B rank comes to this city, but it looks like she went in and wants to destroy the dungeon.
Her heart dropped when she saw the almost ripped ID card.
Name: Ahko Hanozono
Rank: G [Ahko's picture]
Class: None
"A- Ahko!? Y-You are alive!?"
Lydia had to cover her mouth to make sure no one heard that. Ahko, her friend who she thought had been dead for months and relived but also not yesterday, suddenly came back!?
"What do you mean, Lydia? I'm always alive."
Once she heard that voice again, it really was Ahko. She's back from her confinement. She is relieved when she sees Ahko still alive and well? Well, she doesn't know if Ahko is still sane after all that but she can't see her face due to the cloak being too dark. She wants to see if that is really Ahko under that hood.
"U-Uhm... Since you disappeared months ago... I thought that you were dead... But why are you wearing a hood on?"
"... To not attract any attention... You did see what happened after you screamed that I'm gonna destroy the dungeon alone."
That makes sense, if anyone sees that it's Ahko, the G rank girl accepted a mission that only suitable for D rank and above, and she's alone in this mission, no one can get her back if anything happens.
"O-Oh... R-Right..."
Wait, she's Ahko! She can't take that mission she'll die!
"You are a G rank! You can't even fit to go anywhere alone!"
"Don't worry about it... I'm much more capable than I was months ago."
Capable? What does that mean? Is she stronger than she was months ago? Lydia has some doubts but she can't refuse any mission acceptance. She takes a good look at the almost ripped card. It's hideous and disoriented, many dirts are on it, and she can even see some webs on the card.
"How about I make you a new card while you finish the mission?"
"Fine by me."
Ahko leaves without saying anything else, the whole guild stares at her until she leaves the guilds. Then, many eyes gaze towards Lydia, they want to know who's the person that's gonna destroy the goblin dungeon alone.
Lydia hides the card in her pocket then she continues on whatever she is doing. The whole guild on the mysterious figure slowly dies down. During her entire shift after meeting Ahko, she keeps thinking about who she really is.
Her voice sounds like Ahko but it sounds like she's more... mature? No, mature isn't the right word. She sounded more like she had seen something she shouldn't see. Besides that, she couldn't see anything else resembling Ahko whom she once knew and cared for. On how she acts and how she talks, she's so different than Ahko months ago.
Lydia couldn't care if her personality changed during those months, a lot had happened to her so it made sense. What she cares the most is seeing her dear friend's face again. When or if Ahko came back, she wanted to see it.
A week has gone by and she never saw Ahko coming back from her mission. Lydia's worriness comes back to haunt her. Is Ahko dead because of the goblins? Is she still on her mission? Did she chicken out last minute? She wanted to see Ahko being the center of attention not because of her rank, but because she did something not even a C rank can't do on their own, but it looks like it wouldn't happen. A party of 4 have accepted the mission after 3 days of Ahko's mission. 4 days have passed and they has yet to come to deliver the bad news or good news.
What do you think?
