Chapter 453: 229 Sister and Brother (Second Update)_3
The man broke into tears at the end of his speech.
The commoners pointed and nodded, clearly standing on the man’s side.
Gu Jiao remained calm, saying, “Alright, you claim she was a patient at our Medical Hall. So, who is she? How old? Who accompanied her here?”
The man roared, “She is my wife! Can’t you tell how old she is?”
Gu Jiao asked steadily, “What is your wife’s surname and her given name?”
Seemingly growing increasingly impatient with Gu Jiao’s questioning, the man shouted angrily, “Her surname is Wu, and her name is Wu Jinhua!”
Gu Jiao raised the book in her hand, “But it’s clearly written here that the patient who came in was a 21-year-old pregnant woman surnamed Yang, not your deceased…. who is at least in her thirties.”
The man choked on his words.
The onlooking crowd, who hadn’t anticipated such a twist, couldn’t help but cast doubtful glances upon the man.
The man’s eyes flickered as he shouted, “You randomly pull out a book claiming it’s the record from that day. How do we know you didn’t just make it up as you went along?”
Doctor Song hurriedly said, “We record our patients’ details chronologically, not starting a new page until the old one is filled up. Even if I wanted to fabricate a record, there’s no space to do it. Besides, I only went in there for a short while, where would I find the time to write such a lengthy record?”
Doctor Song showed the medical book to the bystanders.
An entire page was filled with detailed records of the patient’s identity, age, symptoms, time of consultation, diagnosis, and prescription. Nearly three hundred words had been written. It wouldn’t have been possible to write so much in the blink of an eye.
Moreover, if it were freshly written, the ink would not have dried.
The man insisted stubbornly, “You, you might have written it wrong!”
Gu Jiao nodded, “That’s entirely possible, which is why I suggested that we report this to the authorities. Based on the record, they should be able to locate this patient and clear Huichun Hall’s name.”
Upon hearing that Gu Jiao intended to get an external witness, it became clear who was lying.
The crowd was mildly disappointed. They had waited so long, thinking they would catch a scandal involving Huichun Hall, but there seemed to be nothing after all.
Seeing that his plan had failed, the man turned to flee!
But Gu Jiao didn’t give him the chance to escape. In a few swift movements, she tackled him, and the rest were also successfully caught.
Finally, Gu Jiao looked at the body lying on the ground, “Are you planning to stay there and get buried alive?”
The ‘corpse’ immediately sprang to its feet!
Oh my!
Everyone was taken aback!
So, even the corpse was fake?!
With everyone else taken aback, an unassuming figure slipped away from the crowd, slipped into an alley, and headed towards the nearby Chang’an Avenue.
“What did you say? Such a high-profile medical dispute, and they resolved it so easily?”
Inside Huichun Hall, a man rose from his chair, startled.
This man was none other than Hang Zhuanggui, who had attempted but failed to treat Gu Yan at the Villa.
Hang Zhuanggui, being the confidant of the younger half-brother of Hang Zhuanggui, had always devoted himself to Huichun Hall.
“Yes, I was also taken by surprise. When those people appeared, I already suspected that something wasn’t quite right. Typically such situations are about extorting money. The medical halls, unable to clear their names, often choose to downplay the issue for the sake of their reputation. But they laid out clear evidence…”
The responding servant attentively explained to Hang Zhuanggui the process in which Gu Jiao had managed to turn the tide.
Upon hearing this, Hang Zhuanggui was dumbfounded, “How did they come up with the idea to keep medical records for each patient?”
Ordinary medical halls, after treating their patients, let them go. Who cares about the details? Isn’t that a hassle?
However, precisely because they had taken the trouble to keep records, they had solid evidence to display.
Actually, as early as the explosion rescue scene, Hang Zhuanggui had noticed Huichun Hall’s unusual approach to work and had been keeping an eye on it ever since.
Although he was loath to admit that the old man Hu, who had been kicked out of the Hu family, could someday make something of himself, Huichun Hall, under the old man’s auspices, indeed had quite a few practices worth emulating.
After thinking it over, Hang Zhuanggui decided to adopt Huichun Hall’s medical practices starting from the next day.

With the truth of the medical dispute unravelled, not only was Huichun Hall’s reputation unscathed, but their diligent practices made them a benchmark in the industry. Their reputation in the Capital City improved even further.
Gu Jiao didn’t bother with the aftermath of those hooligans, leaving it all to Manager Wang.
“Miss Gu, rest assured, I will handle this matter properly.” Being chosen by Boss No.2 and persuaded to move from the county town to the Capital City, Manager Wang was certainly capable.
Gu Jiao trusted him to take care of things.
In the afternoon, Gu Jiao, having some private matters to attend to, disguised herself as a man and went out.
Seeing her dressed as a man, Xiaosanzi was taken aback and stammered, “Gu… Miss Gu? Why are you dressed like this?”
Gu Jiao got into the carriage and stretched her wrists, “No big deal, just going to Chaoyang Street.”
Chaoyang Street? That place is so far away! Moreover,… it’s not a particularly nice place…” Xiaosanzi’s voice trailed off as Gu Jiao gave him a cold look that sent chills down his spine.
“Ok, ok, let’s go then.” Xiaosanzi jumped into the carriage and picked up the whip.
Gu Jiao lowered the window curtain.
Just as the carriage was about to leave, another carriage arrived, stopping outside the back door of the clinic.
A young and fair eunuch stepped down from the carriage, “May I ask, is Miss Gu here at the medical hall?”
“Who’s asking for me?” Gu Jiao asked from the carriage.
The eunuch bowed towards the carriage upon hearing her voice, “The queen has left her zither in your courtyard, and she sent me to retrieve it.”
Gu Jiao instructed, “Go to Little Jiang Li, and let her take you. It’s on the desk to the right of my study.”
“Yes!” The eunuch obliged and entered the medical hall through the back door.
Little Jiang Li was playing in Gu Jiao’s courtyard. Upon hearing someone was here to retrieve the zither, she said, “Hmm…the desk on the right… Uh, here it is!”
Little Jiang Li carried the zither case out to hand it to the eunuch.
“Thank you, young miss.” The eunuch left happily, carrying the zither case.
Little Jiang Li continued to water the little grass in the courtyard. After a while, she frowned, “Did I place it correctly?”
Gu Jiao allowed Little Jiang Li to play the zither, and when Little Jiang Li entered the room, she found two zithers. After playing, she put the zither back but didn’t remember which zither went into which case.
“Never mind, both are Gu sister’s zithers; it doesn’t matter which case!”
What do you think?
