Chapter 1295  The Secret of the Labyrinth

The Paladin Leader actually felt uneasy after he couldn't find anyone inside the labyrinth despite the many traces of people fighting including the corpses of hunters that had been torn apart by wild beasts. He could only assume that there was a fight between the hunters and perhaps Beast got involved in the fight and caused the death of some of the hunters and whoever survived might have accidentally discovered this room but maybe he was holding a special amulet or something that could hide his presence but that won't be a problem once this place is closed, that man or woman should forget trying to escape from this place.

"Let's go!" said the leader.

"Yes!" the subordinated answer simultaneously.

They were just about to leave, but their steps were suddenly stopped by the appearance of the figure of a man who came from nowhere. The man with tattered clothes and long jet-black hair stood with his hands folded behind his back. Despite wearing tattered clothes the man exuded with noble aura and charisma with a hint of inexplicable mystery.

"Who are you?" The leader was the first one who snap back from his daze.

The corners of his lips curved into a condescending smile, "You are not worthy of knowing my name."

The Paladin's expression became unsightly, and one of them could not hold his anger he pointed his sword at Zhao Li Xin"Who do you dare taunt us, do you know who you are up against right now?!" he spat his anger.

Zhao Li Xin's expression remained impassive as usual, "I have a guess but, but please... enlighten me" Zhao Li Xin raised his hand politely, though his voice was soft and courteous but for the enemy it felt like Zhao Li Xin mocked them, Well, they weren't wrong.

The Paladin Leader was irritated by Zhao Li Xin's nonchalant attitude. He looked at Zhao with a mocking look, he thought this young man was too arrogant and too stupid, and he was probably not aware of what he was getting into.

"Young man, for your good you better behave yourself before I cut your tongue." his words hinted with a stern warning,

"Cut off my tongue?" Zhao Li Xin raised his brows pretending to be stunned, he gracefully covered his mouth, but then a sinister smile slowly spread across his handsome face. "What a coincidence, I also like cutting people's tongues..."

All of a sudden a bloodthirsty aura flared up uncontrollably from Zhao Li Xin like an raging wildfire devouring the forest. The sudden pressure made the Paladins reflexively raise their weapons, some of them activated their protective amulets as if a ferocious Beast were about to pounce on them.

Their anxiety brought chuckles to Zhao Li Xin's lips "Why so tense? I haven't done anything"

Only knowing the Paladin leader realized that he had been tricked, this man was not only a beautiful face but also a dangerous beast, he could not let this man live.

"Spread!" the leader gives orders.

The subordinates immediately caught him then they spread out, and surrounded Zhao Li Xin, all of them pointing their weapons at Zhao Li Xin.

"Who are you?" The leader looked at Zhaolixin with cautious evaluation, his instincts telling him not to attack this beautiful man carelessly.

Zhao Li Xin tilted his head "You keep asking...Why don't I ask you first and maybe I'll answer your question, hm?"

The leader pondered for a few seconds before he long snorted, "Fine, asked me!" he lowered his sword pretending to give in but actually, he was secretly pressing the red button on his wrist for reinforcement.

Zhao Li Xin noticed the subtle change in his leader's behavior but he had no idea what he had done, it was understandable because Zhao Li Xin only had little knowledge of this world's technology.

"Are you that thing that called..Pal - Paladin?" Zhao Li Xin's brows knitted closely as if he were trying to remember.

The Paladins always always held in revere anywhere they went even high officials treated them with honor therefore Zhao Li Xin's nonchalant attitude really hurt their pride. The leader had to swallow his anger untill the reinforcement came, "Yes, so you should understand who are you ag—"

Zhao Li Xin raised his hand dismissively to cut him off, he's not patient enough to hear their rambling threat, "Why are you here?" Zhao Li Xin continues. @@novelbin@@

One of the Paladin was unable to control his anger, he didn't understand why they should entertain this mysterious man when there were five of them and only one him, "Why should we answer you, Sir, why don't we just kill this arrogant bastard!"

"Sir, permission to cut his head off!" the other paladin was also shared the same thought, he didn't think this mysterious man strong, he just a pretty face with a big attitude.

"I GOT HIM!" one of the Paladins suddenly launched a sneak attack from behind, he raised his hand then suddenly Zhao Li Xin's legs and arms were tied by vines that spurt from the ground.

He grinned triumphantly when he saw Zhao Li Xin's limbs completely tied, sure that Zhao Li Xin would not be able to counter his attack, he pointed his sword at Zhao Li Xin's chest., but suddenly his vision was covered in flames, "Eh?" the man didn't have time to realize what was happening when his entire body was engulfed in flames.

The man's scream filled the spacious room at the same time because the heat of the fire of the glass sphere light exploded and soon the room became completely dark.

"He's a fire gifted!" they warn each other then turn on the emergency flashlights on their chests while warning each other.

The purplish flame blazed like a giant torch accompanied by a heart-wrenching scream, they hurriedly tried to put out the fire, they poured all the water from their water bottle but nothing happened, the flame didn't decrease at all then they used a water amulet to summon water from the ground and cooling charms, but still all attempt was futile meanwhile their friend rolling on the ground as scream and begged for help then finally the scream died down his charred body oozed with smokes.

There had been no sound in the room for a long time. Their eyes were wide open as they watched in horror what was once their comrade turn into nothing but a mere black log, their heartbeats racing at the same time they tried to comprehend what just happened.

What kind of power was that, how could their high-level charms and amulet have no effect at all? they had never seen powerful fire gifted like him before, then again, is that even a 'Gift'?

"Look what you guys have done" his chilling voice caused their breathing to stop momentarily.

The man was standing not far from them, his figure shrouded in darkness when the flashlight was pointed at him, the beautiful man smiled but did not reach his eyes, "You might wonder what kind of power is that, since I was generous I will tell you"

The Paladins gulped heavily 'Is that being generous?'

Just like a teacher giving a lecture, he rests his arms behind his back gracefully then walks with small steps he starts to explain: "That was called an Immortal flame, an ancient art I learned a long time ago and just like it's named when you were burned by the Immortal flame, it cannot be put off by any means until the poor victim is burned to ashes or....I die..." he flicks a smile then all of a sudden his figure moves very fast it looks like he disappeared like thin air.

"Where did he go?!"

"Where is he!" "SON OF A BITC*!!"

Panicking, they pointed their flashlights everywhere, then one of them accidentally touched the corpse of his dead friend, and suddenly the black corpse crumbled down into nothing but ashes. He jumped out of shock and screamed in fright, he startled the other causing them to take a few steps back.

Everyone, stay alert! The leader roared, and soon they all recovered from the shock and immediately regained their position but it was too late, they had lost the mysterious man whereabouts.

"Don't be careless, he's still here!" The leader warned them and drilled into their heads that only humans, and humans could be killed.

Unfortunately, logic and feelings cannot be equated. Facing something they have never seen before tends to make people afraid besides after seeing how their friend died it is impossible for them not to be traumatized.

Zhao Li Xin was amused at how easy it was to scare them, he only burned one of their members and they were already shaking like wet cats in the rain, what weak mental strength. Hopefully, all Paladins are like this if it is, it wouldn't be difficult to eradicate them all.

The leader knows Zhao Li Xin is trying to weaken their mentality, but unfortunately, he's not a weakling like his young subordinates who had little experience in real battle, unlike them, he has participated in many battles during the Dark Age War.

The leader then remembered he still had a sphere glass in his stash, he could use this as a flash bomb. The leader gave a sign to his subordinates to wear adjustable vision glasses.

They feel stupid, they just remembered that they got adjustable vision glasses, if that's the case they don't need a flashlight, they were embarrassed to admit it because they were so afraid of Zhao Li Xin that they forgot. After putting on the glasses, they scanned the room carefully. It didn't take long before they found Zhao Li Xin's position.

The Leader whispered one, two, three then threw the glass sphere into the air, and suddenly a bright light illuminated the room. He knew it would take a few seconds for human eyes to adjust to the sudden light, therefore he used this opportunity to strike Zhao Li Xin together with his subordinates.

The leader lunged at rapid speed while pointing his sword at Zhao Li Xin's chest.

Unfortunately, they didn't know that Zhao Li Xin spent a lot of time in an underground place which of course only had a few dim lights as a source of light. Only when he brought Lory to visit the Underground Palace, did he order his subordinates to increase the light inside and around the Palace so that Lory could explore the palace freely, but before that Zhao Li Xin was used to spending his time in the dark.

When the paladin leader attacked Zhao Li Xin he was confused as to why Zhao Li Xin closed his eyes, he didn't know that as a high-level cultivator didn't just rely on his eye senses.
