The Tycoon's Enchanted Mermaid

Chapter 31: What’s so special about this young girl?

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: What’s so special about this young girl?

Talking about her height right to her face!

Ah Da was already annoyed by her short arms and short legs having no intimidating power in front of Qin Yu, frequently getting squashed and pinched by him, and this guy even had the nerve to rub salt in her wound.

Truly worthy of being Qin Yu’s friend.

“If you’re not from the same family, you don’t enter the same door!”

Tang Bufan hadn’t noticed the young girl’s displeasure and was still blabbering, “Do you not eat well and pick at your food? Kids need to eat more to grow taller, you know?”

...

Ah Da, with a sullen and innocent face, walked past him and entered the room, leaving behind only a “hmph.”

Tang Bu was a bit baffled as he watched her small retreating figure, suddenly laughed out, and teased Uncle Wen, “Is the little girl angry just like that? Now that I think about it, her temperament seems a bit like our Third Young Master’s. Are you sure she’s not his daughter?”

Uncle Wen nearly had a heart attack, very seriously replied, “Definitely not, Mr. Tang, please stop joking.”

Tang Bufan stared at him intently for a few seconds and then sighed, “Forget it, forget it. I was also thinking, with his personality, the probability of him suddenly having a daughter is no less than Mars colliding with Earth.”

“But why would he suddenly want to keep a kid by his side? That’s pretty miraculous, right?”

Tang Bufan stroked his chin, thoughtfully considering.

“Is there something special about this little girl? Who are her parents, do I know them?” Tang Bufan inquired tirelessly.

Uncle Wen, carrying a professional smile, replied without letting a single thing slip, “Miss Ah Da is just Miss Ah Da. As for her biological parents, Mr. Tang only mentioned they are friends, and I am not privy to that information.”

“Tsk, seeing you like this, fine, I got it.” Tang Bufan gave up. Regardless of whether Uncle Wen knew or not, even if he did, with the loyalty he had towards Qin Yu, trying to get any information out of him would be as hard as scaling the heavens.

However, Qin Yu’s special treatment of the little girl definitely had some unknown reason. Knowing Qin Yu as he did, he definitely wouldn’t accept someone for no reason at all. Tang Bufan felt like there was a little cat scratching at his heart, extremely curious.

The maid brought over a beautiful glass bottle and filled it halfway with water. Ah Da put down the flowers she had brought back on the table. The couch was too high for her, so sitting on the floor was just right. There was a layer of soft carpet on the floor, not uncomfortable for her bottom at all.

When Tang Bufan walked in, he saw the young girl sitting on the carpet arranging flowers, brandishing a pair of scissors with the air of a professional.

The little girl was truly beautiful. Qin Yu wouldn’t have agreed to let her live here just because she was pretty, right?

Quite interesting.

Tang Bufan strode forward with his long legs, directly took a seat next to her without asking permission, and being well-versed in social interactions, he was completely oblivious to awkwardness. He initiated conversation with praise, asking:

“Wow, these flowers are beautiful. What kind are they?”

Ah Da pressed her lips together, not replying.

Even Uncle Wen standing by couldn’t help but be speechless. Mr. Tang’s affected tone was too fake, it made his eyebrows twitch uncontrollably.

The young girl ignored him, but Tang Bufan was not discouraged, leaning in closer with a sparkling gaze and said to Ah Da, “Don’t be so stingy, I wasn’t saying you are short, what I actually meant is that you are cute, a little chubby, and on the internet that’s called a ‘meng wa’.”

“‘Meng wa’ is quite popular, that’s a compliment.”

Ah Da’s hand holding the flower stem paused, sparing him a glare. This explanation was worse than none at all!

A compliment? She’s not a three-year-old kid, though it’s a pity she isn’t one – she might choose not to speak. Could he really go out and not get beaten up for this? Ah Da was very curious.

Tang Bufan ignored her annoyance, finding the little girl’s lively expressions rather interesting, and with an even brighter smile enquired, “Uncle Wen said your name is Ah Da, what is your full name?”

Ah Da didn’t respond to him and focused on trimming the thorns off the branch.

“Where are your parents? Who are your parents, huh?”

“What’s the last name? Do I know you?”

“Oh, come on, why so temperamental at such a young age?”

Tang Bufan played a one-man show, getting rejected one after another. This indignity he hadn’t even experienced before Qin Yu, and now he was getting nowhere with a young girl—where could he possibly go to make his case?

Uncle Wen barely managed to suppress a laugh. Mr. Tang feared neither heaven nor earth, but it seemed he had finally met his match this time.

The hall was eerily quiet.

Tang Bufan put a fist to his mouth and coughed awkwardly a few times. “Well, Uncle Wen, if you and the others have something to do, go ahead. No need to stand here.”

The young girl was too difficult to handle. It was better to send the others away first; otherwise, Tang Bufan worried he couldn’t save face.

Once Tang Bufan spoke, it was difficult for Uncle Wen to refuse. However, he looked at Ah Da with some concern.

Look at that gaze, that gesture. It went without saying, he was uneasy about leaving Ah Da alone with him.

Tang Bufan’s face darkened slightly, and he said helplessly, “Come on, Uncle Wen, it’s not like that. You’ve known me for quite some time. After all, I, Tang Bufan, am also a good young citizen of the country with positive thoughts and high morals. Surely you don’t misunderstand me so greatly? I’m not a trafficker. You’re really hurting my feelings here.”

Uncle Wen expressed his difficulty, “Before Mr. Tang left, he instructed me to take good care of Miss Ah Da. I hope Mr. Tang can understand.”

“Ah, my life is so hard,” Tang Bufan sighed and complained to himself, “My universally disliked existence.”

Ah Da felt a headache coming on. How could a grown man be more childish than a kid? @@novelbin@@

“Just stop talking,” Ah Da couldn’t resist snapping at him, and then told Uncle Wen, “I can be on my own here. Go on with them and don’t delay your work.”

Uncle Wen nodded and led the others out.

Little did they know, it was exactly what Tang Bufan wanted.

The young girl spoke with a milky voice, and Tang Bufan immediately brightened up, his peach blossom eyes beaming with mirth, “Is the Princess finally willing to speak to me? What an honor!”

“What Princess? What are you blabbering about?” Ah Da said seriously, shaking the flower branch in her hand, “Do you know how much you’re asking for a beating? In the time you spoke those few sentences just now, I’ve wanted to hit you at least ten times.”

“That violent, huh? Wanting to punch me ten times upon meeting, ha ha, you’re the first.” Tang Bufan continued with unabated cheerfulness, leaning back against the sofa, he stretched his hand out to her, “Then go ahead and hit me. I don’t mind, brother. After all, it was my fault for calling you short just now. Consider this as an apology from me.”

Ah Da: “…”

Punching a ball of cotton, Ah Da was truly at a loss for words. Bronze Sword was right, people become invincible once they have no shame.

The man was handsome, and when those peach blossom eyes held laughter, he should have been a suave, romantic, and tender-hearted gentleman, but now… it was hard to describe.

Calling himself brother, just to take advantage.

Tang Bufan egged her on presumptuously, “Hurry up, opportunity knocks but once.”

Ah Da swung the flower branch and hit his hand, “You’re the first person I’ve met who’s so asking for it.”

“An honor indeed.” Tang Bufan bowed his hands.

Ah Da curled her lip and inserted the flower into the vase, “It’s a miracle you haven’t been beaten with that personality of yours.”

“Who’s to say? Compared to the owner of this villa, my temper is quite good,” Tang Bufan chuckled.

That actually made some sense. Qin Yu was silent like a millennia-old icy pond, while Tang Bufan was simply insane. There was indeed a huge difference between the two.

Comparatively, Qin Yu was definitely harder to deal with.
