Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Only grown this much at 8 years old?
Ah Da had no recollection of what she had said to Uncle Wen as she quickly fled into the bathroom, clutching her clothes.
Qin Yu remained silent; however, Uncle Wen had expressed his astonishment over the past few days, shocked that Mr. Tang would allow someone else to use his bathroom and, judging by the situation, perhaps even share his living quarters.
Though Miss Ade was just a child now, such an occurrence had never happened before.
As he left, Uncle Wen was still marveling; he had no idea who Miss Ade’s parents were to make Mr. Tang break his rules like this.
Ade was completely unaware of these matters; she was entirely lost at the moment.
The fishy sweet taste in her mouth lingered despite her repeatedly swallowing water; she felt the urge to cry, not because she was afraid of Qin Yu settling scores later in the fall, but because she was acutely aware she did not dislike this taste—rather, her body did not dislike it.
...
Could it be that she was originally a bloodthirsty demon?
Covering her mouth, Ade searched through her memories, but there were none; the end of her memory was a cold, boundless underground palace where she lived alone in an incense burner.
Facing a bathtub full of water, Ade closed her eyes and completely immersed herself.
Perhaps because she bit him, when she finished bathing, Qin Yu had agreed that she could return to sleep in the incense burner. Ade didn’t dare to say or ask too much; she quickly zipped inside.
Shortly after, a small head popped out with large, water-filled eyes and pleaded softly, “Don’t… don’t forget to light the incense.”
Qin Yu replied, “Hmm.”
Having received confirmation, Ade finally felt at ease, smiled, and turned to blend into the Green Jade.
Qin Yu walked over, lifted the top of the incense burner, and looked inside. He could see nothing, which proved that Ade was not residing on the surface; there was a mystery within the Green Jade.
He placed the spices in, lit them, and then positioned the incense burner next to his bed. He lay down in bed, the covers and pillows all infused with her sweet, cloying fruity fragrance.
Qin Yu turned off the light with his hand and went to sleep.
Now Ade, no longer the size of a palm, couldn’t sleep on the pillow anymore. Putting her in a guest room was too far away, and Qin Yu worried her scent might fade. After much deliberation, letting her reside in the incense burner placed by the bed seemed the most appropriate.
She had always wanted to sleep inside it, so this arrangement suited her wishes perfectly; otherwise, the two small sharp teeth in her mouth might not know when to start gnawing on his arm.
Recalling how Ade, after biting someone, had appeared skittishly panicked and scared, Qin Yu couldn’t help but slightly curl the corners of his mouth in the dark. He thought her brave, indeed she was, daring to talk back loudly to him, even biting him. Yet, he also thought her timid since she was the biter yet also the frightened one, hiding after biting.
Truly like a rabbit, biting out of sheer panic.
Qin Yu fell asleep very quickly, but Ade did not have it so easy. Curled up with her legs on the little Jade bed, she touched her gums with her fingertips and tried biting her finger, pondering how her teeth, so even, managed to make Qin Yu bleed.
Was she that strong?
Thinking of the dark red wound, Ade couldn’t help but feel guilty. Although it was Qin Yu who had annoyed her first, her “retaliation” seemed a bit too harsh. @@novelbin@@
“Sigh…”
Ade sighed deeply with distress, tilting her head and lying down on the Jade bed. Her ink-dark long hair cascaded down from her shoulders, spreading out like spilt ink into a large swath.
When she woke up the next day, the day was already bright.
Ade heard Uncle Wen knocking at the door and quickly ran out of the incense burner. She couldn’t let anyone else find out she slept in the incense burner; Qin Yu wouldn’t tell, but it didn’t mean others wouldn’t, even if Uncle Wen seemed friendly.
Ade wasn’t foolish; if it hadn’t been for Qin Yu cleverly catching her red-handed, she wouldn’t have let Qin Yu know of her existence on her own. She remembered every word spoken by the Bronze Sword.
With a respectful bow, Uncle Wen saw Ade open the door and came out, smiling warmly, “Miss Ade, breakfast is ready; you can come down to eat now.”
Ah Da nodded hesitantly and still decided to ask, “Uncle Wen, has Qin Yu already left?”
Uncle Wen replied, “Mr. Tang has already gone to the company. Miss Ade, if you miss him, you can call him.”
“No need,” Ah Da waved her hand, fearing that Uncle Wen might actually make the call. She didn’t miss him; she was afraid of seeing him.
It was best that he wasn’t at home. Thinking this, Ah Da felt much more relaxed and her steps downstairs were light and buoyant.
Breakfast was different from yesterday; today’s was a soft and delicate meat porridge paired with exquisite side dishes, which made one’s taste buds rejoice. Ah Da couldn’t resist and ate until she was full.
Burping frequently, Ah Da originally planned to watch TV after breakfast but now had to postpone it for a bit; she needed to take a walk to aid digestion, otherwise, her stomach would feel uncomfortably bloated.
Surrounded by trees and green grass, and with the Capital City being perennially spring-like, the weather was warming up, and many flowers were blooming successively. Ah Da ran into the garden and played to her heart’s content.
She had intended to return after walking off her breakfast, but she ended up playing until noon, so tired that her legs felt weak before she finally returned.
Ah Da entered the villa with a bouquet of flowers and bumped into a man at the door. Both Ah Da and the man were stunned, staring at each other, with four eyes wide in shock.
“You…”
“Who is this?”
Two voices rang out almost simultaneously. The first was Ah Da’s, and the second was Tang Bufan’s, as he asked Uncle Wen.
Uncle Wen stepped forward, “Mr. Tang, what brings you here?”
“I’m here to return the car I borrowed last time. Here, this is the key.” Tang Bufan handed over the keys to Uncle Wen, glancing at the small figure at the door with a face full of surprise mixed with gossip.
Uncle Wen respectfully took the keys, “Thank you for making the trip, Mr. Tang.”
“No trouble, it was my responsibility to return it personally.” Tang Bufan waved his hand, then his peach blossom eyes twinkled with gossip, “Had I not come today, I wouldn’t have known that there’s been a child hidden in Third Young Master’s house.”
“Hey, Uncle Wen, whisper to me, this little girl couldn’t possibly be Third Young Master’s illegitimate daughter lost to the outside world?”
Ah Da was embarrassed: Was that supposed to be whispered? The voice was so loud that she heard everything.
Also, what’s an illegitimate daughter?
She remembered this man; he was the one who previously brought the incense burner to Qin Yu, her last “master.”
Uncle Wen explained, “This is Miss Ade, the daughter of the young master’s friend, staying here temporarily.”
Turning to Ah Da, he introduced, “Miss Ade, this Mr. Tang Bufan, is a friend of the young master.”
Ah Da nodded obediently, “Hello, Mr. Tang.”
Her voice was soft, sweet, and glutinous. Dressed in a pink princess dress, her slightly chubby delicate face and her big watery eyes made her look like a beautiful young lady, almost unrealistically so.
Tang Bufan walked over and squatted in front of Ah Da, flicking her chubby cheek with his finger, his peach blossom eyes sparkling, “Why address me formally? It makes me sound old. Call me Brother Tang or just ‘Brother’. Such a cute little thing, how old are you?”
Ah Da, once again feeling the taste of speechlessness, thought that this Tang Bufan seemed somewhat careless and not very serious.
“Eight years old,” Ah Da deliberately claimed an older age.
Tang Bufan raised an eyebrow and sized up her height, “Only this tall at eight years old?”
Ah Da: “…”
What do you think?
