The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system

Chapter 174 174: A semblance of family.

On entering the house, she was gently ripped out of grandma Tian's arms and embraced by someone else, Tai Ho Sun's mother Mo Qilu.

"Aah, pretty baby, I was so happy when I heard that you were coming over. Why haven't you met up with me again?"

Alix held the friendly woman and drew in the scent of her coco butter perfume. She had only smelled it once but already she was familiar with it.

"I have been busy aunt Mo. I didn't deliberately refuse to meet up with you again. But I respond to all your calls and texts often."

The two were separated by an agitated grandma Tai. "You, Mo Qilu, so you secretly met up with her but didn't tell any of us. Isn't this a betrayal?"

Mo Qilu smiled and quickly came up with a response. "It was Ho Sun, he took me to meet her and we went shopping. We also got a manicure and a facial."

Tai Ho Sun had entered the house in time to hear his mother not only tell a lie but throw him under the bus boldly. Why she was going to great lengths to explain what they did when they met up, he had no idea. She sounded quite please with herself and her tone was quite braggart.

Grandpa Tai took one of Alix's hands while his wife took the other and they led her to the living room, forgetting all about the man she had come with.

Indeed, Caishen was actually beginning to feel like an intruder on an intimate family reunion.

Chairman Tai and his brothers were there and the three signaled at each other.

"Young master Zhang." Chairman Tai took the lead and addressed Caishen. "Please come with us to the living room and have a sit."

One of the other brothers slapped him on the back and he winced.

"I mean please come with us to the living room." he cut out the unnecessary part which had been unnecessary to his original words.

Zhang Caishen was already sitting in the wheel chair. Unless he needed to be carried out of the wheelchair and put on the sofa. He wondered if that would be awkward and if they were to do it, which one of them would have to carry him.

"We are so pleased that you are here." Tai Heng said.

Caishen nodded in response and turned his wheelchair, following the direction the elders had taken his wife in.

Tai Bo, the youngest of the three brothers shivered and mouthed at chairman Tai Heng, "He is cold, ice cold."

In the living room, Alix was sitting between the two elders who were still holding her hands. She couldn't remember the last time she had been welcomed like this. Her first day in the Zhang house had not been this warm.

It had been awkward, with a lot of clipped and cold tones, honestly. Even the two elders had been polite but not overly warm to her. Not that she could blame anyone given the circumstances at the time. Now, things were much better and she reckoned they would get even better in future.

"Tell me about yourself. What did you do to make this old men love you so much?" grandma Tai asked her.

Alix shook her head and smiled shyly. She really didn't know if there was a specific thing that she did to make grandpa Tai like her. He just did.

"You don't know, really?" grandma Zhang asked her in an unsure voice.

She nodded. "Grandpa is just a nice person with a kind heart." she looked at grandpa Tai and said. Then, she turned to grandma Tai and added, "You too grandma."

Grandma Tai smile widely, and the fat around her cheek bones sharpened. She pinched Alix's face and said softly, "You have a sweet mouth too."

"Ahem." Chairman Tai cleared his throat. "Mother, father, your grandson-in-law is also here. Maybe we should eat first since nobody has had breakfast. I bet they are hungry too."

Grandma Tai nodded. "Where are my manners? I shouldn't ask a lot of questions right now. We should eat first and get to know each other slowly." She looked at Caishen and smiled, "Young Zhang, welcome to our home. You and Alix can come and visit us as you wish at anytime, any day."

"Thank you." Caishen replied in monotone.

"We had no idea what you like to eat or not so we prepared many things. I hope our meal will be to your liking." she added.

Grandpa Tai was already making conversation with Alix since he had her all to himself now.

"Xi Xi, why didn't you come with your cat?"

"Ooh, my mother-in-law wanted to do something with the cats so I left him behind. She is going to take his pictures or something." Alix had not been listening attentively when Yura was explaining.

"That's okay. I thought I would get an opportunity to take pictures with him to make that old Ren jealous. He keeps talking my ear off about his plans to paint Majesty. He is taunting me because I can't paint."

Alix frowned, her eyebrows moved downwards as she analyzed what logic was behind grandpa Tai's reasoning. But she had also realized that grandpa Tai could be quite silly at times so she didn't dwell much on it.

Grandpa Tai, meanwhile had already moved on. "Young Zhang, you finally put a worthy ring on my granddaughter's finger."

Caishen was no longer surprised by the things elder Zhang said. It had already been cemented in his mind that the old man was quite chatty and candid.

"It's a couples ring. I have one too." he answered.

"Where did you buy it from?" grandpa Tai looked from Caishen to his sons and asked the one whose name came first to his mind. "Tai Heng, is this one of ours?"

"No, it's from rare gems jewelry. Seeing it on the hand on my beloved sister is a thorn in my heart." Tai Ho Sun walked into the living room and announced.

He sat down in the chair opposite Alix and the other brothers made themselves comfortable as well.

Alix was quick to respond to him, "It's pretty and my hubby and I made the choice together. If it makes your sister happy then it should make you happy."

Caishen smiled smugly. Being defended somehow in front of Tai Ho Sun gave him a great feeling. But, judging from the way grandfather and grandson acted, no one in this family used or bought jewelry from somewhere else.

It was quite peculiar however that the Tai's did not deck themselves out in fancy jewels all the time. He had noticed a few ear studs, rings, and necklaces here and there on different family members. All simple, nothing exaggerated.

"Introduce yourselves to your sister and brother-in-law. Let's go from the oldest to the youngest and also grandsons stand behind your fathers." grandpa Tai told them.

"This feels like kindergarten." Tai Fong commented as they arranged themselves. It brought back memories of the teachers making them line up in an orderly manner for one reason or the other.

He sighed as he stood behind his father, wondering if having a sister might be troublesome.
