Chapter 28 28: Seeing her nanny again
"You are just shamelessly taking credit for work that is not yours, tsk, tsk, shame on you."
Unable to hold it's tongue, the blue elf made a comment in response to Alix's claim.
"Did you expect me to say that it is from you?" she asked in return. '
"Well-no," the blue elf answered.
"Is it work from my world?" she asked.
"No." It responded.
"Great, that settles it, it's mine. Besides, you said that I can use things from the gaming world in the real world. To my understanding every music sheet I get my hands on is part of it."
Nothing the elf said would convince her otherwise.
"Alix," Jin Kang shook her rapidly and roughly, "What are you thinking about? Come to your senses, the chance to make money has come. We should book a recording studio and you can play the tune.
Then, we can apply for a copyright and start making money from it."
Pushing her friends talon like slightly long nails away from her shoulders, Alix whimpered.
"Jin Kang, are you trying to tear my skin off?" she whined.
"You are fine, I will book the recording studio, you should practice more and perfect the piece. I should warn the students as well, if anybody was recording it they should not upload it online."
She dashed out of the room before Alix could explain to her that she wanted Qing Ru An to play it at the winter harmony classic competition.
"I like your friend, she is one focused human." The blue elf commented.
Given that her class had ended, and it was lunch hour, Alix left the school intending to visit her old nanny and Holea. The rate at which her father had been calling since they left his house made her anxious.
The more she refused to answer his calls, the more determined he would become to bend her.
"By the way, system, can you tap into the internet in my world?"
"Yes, of course. How can I fail to find my way through such weak links?" it replied, quite arrogantly at that. "What do you need?"
"I need to find someone that will buy the huge diamond at a high price. I have never sold something like that before and if I ask Caishen for help, he will ask many questions.
I need an auction house, or a jewelry company. Find me one that is trustworthy."
"Just that, how easy." It vanished from the screen.
It's reply sounded a bit disdainful however, as if she was misusing it's skills to do such small tasks that hardly mattered.
"Young madam," Uncle Ju, the driver called her.
Alix looked away from her phone and stared at him.
"How are you feeling now?" he asked.
Uncle Ju was so caring, whether it was because she was his boss or it was part of his nature, his simple question touched her.
It was sad but Alix did not have any family member that ever cared about her enough to ask if she was fine. Caishen had been the first.
"I am okay, uncle Ju." she answered.
Uncle Jun nodded and gave his attention to the road while hers returned to her phone.
In no time, she arrived at the cafe downstairs on an office building. The cafe was owned by her friend Holea and her brother who lived abroad.
It was a well spaced cafe, very elegant and beautiful on the inside, with an assortment of green plants that gave it a beautiful aesthetic and homey relaxing feel.
As one of the boss's friends whose face was known to the employees, Alix went to Holea's office directly.
She knocked on the door and called her friend's name out loudly.
"Holea, Holea, it's me." she announced.
The door swung open quickly and out came her old nanny who grabbed her and hugged her immediately.
"Xi-Xi, Xi-Xi, you are finally here." she said in a weak voice.
"Nanny," Alix cried out and she tightened her own arms around the old nanny. "I am sorry, you ended up suffering because of me."
"No, it's not your fault, it's your father's fault. Do not dare to blame yourself. I am just so happy that you are fine, but I feel so guilty because you had to get married because of me."
The words of her nanny made her raise her head. Alix took a step back but ensured that she was still holding her nanny's hands.
"Nanny, I don't know where you heard that from but it's true. I did not marry because of you, I married because this is the man my grandfather wanted for me.
Nanny, grandpa Zhang knew my mother's father. They are the ones who thought about bringing me and Caishen together.
Do not let anyone mislead you, I am happy in my marriage." she stressed her words, ensuring that her nanny understood what she meant.
Her nanny was already old, she was seventy four and she was prone to sickness. She had already been starved thanks to her father and his wicked schemes, she did not need her to shoulder any guilt that would make her ill.
"Xi-Xi, how does he treat you?" her nanny asked in a worried voice. "Holea showed me his pictures on weibo, he looks like a cold man. I am so worried that he will be very tough on you if you make mistakes."
Her nanny's hands were trembling as she expressed her worry and fear for her.
She probably had not stopped at looking at his images, she must have dived deeper and read the gossip about Caishen. Why else would she call him cold?
"Nanny, if you are very worried about me, why don't you move in with me? I am going to ask my husband if I can bring you home. If he says yes, will you move in with me?"
Alix would only be relaxed if her nanny was far away beyond her father's reach.
"Nanny find a seat outside and rest for a while, I will talk to Holea alone." she led her old nanny to one of the soft sofas in the cafe, sat her down and called one of the servers over.
Then, she returned to the office, and finally gave Holea a hug as well.
"Friend, thank you for everything." she said in a soft voice. "I do not know what I would have done if I did not have you."
"Enough with the hugging." Holea squirmed and pushed Alix away.
Alix smiled and rolled her eyes. Holea was always like that, preferring to have less physical contact with others.
What do you think?
