This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!

Chapter 53 - 053: It Will Only Get Worse

Chapter 53: Chapter 053: It Will Only Get Worse

Splitting up, with a staff in his left hand and a revolver in his right, Chen Ke found this particularly noteworthy. He had thought that Holy Relics consisted only of melee weapons. He hadn’t expected guns to be included. What exactly were these things?

The woman’s Holy Relic was a tree branch, and she was dressed in a loosely fitting blue hooded robe. She stretched out her right hand and snapped her fingers. A blue gas quickly condensed in mid-air and slowly formed into a conical crystal.

Was that a Skill? This was Chen Ke’s first encounter with what was referred to as a Transcendent Skill. The cone-shaped crystals continuously formed in the air and rapidly flew towards the monster.

However, even though numerous crystal cones struck the monster, they couldn’t injure it in the slightest. The monster charged towards the woman, intent on ripping her in two with its claws. Just then, a gunshot rang out. The split-haired young man actually made the monster kneel on the ground with a single shot.

Chen Ke was startled. Was the power of this gun that great? No, the monster was still unharmed!

The gun in the split-haired young man’s hand vanished in a flash, replaced by a hook in a blink of white light.

...

He leapt in front of the monster, attempting to hook into its waist and abdomen, only to find that the hook couldn’t penetrate the monster’s skin.

“This won’t do, this won’t do! This monster isn’t something we should handle!” the split-haired young man cried out anxiously, while his companion continued to launch crystal cones at the monster relentlessly.

Before he could finish, the monster slapped at his face, and with a “hiss,” his shoulder was left without a head.

“Raymond!” a Black man bellowed, clutching his lumberjack axe and leaping at the monster, but the monster’s claws caught him mid-air, seizing his upper body.

“What do you want! What will you do! You beast!” the Black man cursed loudly.

The monster’s other claw pierced directly through his torso and ripped him in half before everyone’s eyes.

Two Administration Bureau agents, both equipped with complete sets of Holy Relics, were effortlessly killed by the monster in a matter of seconds. The monster’s overwhelming combat strength left Chen Ke without any desire to fight it.

He moved toward the emergency exit but was blocked by a bald agent.

“If we don’t run now, we’ll all die here,” Chen Ke said.

“I know, but you need to come with us,” the bald agent replied.

The bald agent gestured for the ponytailed woman to guard the door while he took off his leather gloves, revealing five rings set with Holy Relic diamonds, and joined the fray.

“This is Violet at 4679 Black Box, discovering a contract demon and requesting evacuation.” The woman identifying herself as Violet spoke into her handheld radio, standing with the bald and blue-robed woman, blocking the monster’s path.

Simultaneously, over twenty P.W.A.T team members poured out of the security door, led by a muscular white man in his fifties with graying temples.

“My Lord, what is this?” The white man was astounded upon seeing the bodies of the two investigators and the monster that stood over two meters tall.

“Morgan! Try to hold him off. It’s not a monster we can handle. Call in the Spiritual Ability Special Forces!” Violet shouted back at the white man.

Chen Ke looked back at the man identified as Morgan, taking note of “Spiritual Ability Special Forces” and “contract demon.”

If this monster was called a contract demon… blasphemous contract… Blasphemous Dagger… contract demon… Hmm…

Chen Ke fell deep into thought, an idea forming in his mind. Was he being sacrificed?

Gunfire erupted around him. A white Spirit Barrier Hand Grenade flew past Chen Ke.

“Spirit Barrier Hand Grenade! Everyone find cover!” Morgan shouted, darting into the emergency exit.

The others also scrambled behind nearby doors and barriers. Chen Ke, lost in thought, hadn’t heard the warning. When he snapped out of it, the grenade had already exploded…

A strong white halo burst open, the piercing squeal deafened Chen Ke for a while, rendering him unable to hear anything. However, there was no blast wave, no explosion shock wave, nor any debris. Chen Ke remained standing in his original position, unaffected by the surroundings.

What was the purpose of that grenade?

The monster suddenly opened its mouth and roared loudly, the penetrating sound assaulting once more, making Chen Ke a bit panicked. He only had one hour left to live; he couldn’t withstand another round of the monster’s haunting cries.

However, his life did not decrease. Neither did the others cradle their heads due to the noise.

Had the monster’s psychic attack failed? @@novelbin@@

Moreover, the monster seemed to have lost its sight, flailing its claws aimlessly and circling on the spot.

“Quick, retreat, quick, retreat!” Morgan pulled the pin, holding a second Spirit Barrier Hand Grenade in his hand.

The woman with a ponytail next to him grabbed Chen Ke and dragged him towards the safety passage.

Behind them, Violet and the surviving agents had already retrieved the Holy Relics. They followed the P.W.A.T downstairs in retreat.

Morgan was the last to leave; he threw another Spirit Barrier Hand Grenade down the corridor, then shut the double doors and quickly caught up with the evacuation team.

In the team, Chen Ke saw Sleery and Yang Xiao; Sleery’s wounds had been briefly bandaged, and she looked a bit better.

“Head to the first floor lobby and exit from the opening there. Then we will call the Spiritual Ability Special Forces to clean up this mess,” Morgan directed.

“Lieutenant… this person does not exhibit any Spiritual Energy reactions,” a P.W.A.T team member reported.

“That’s impossible; he was able to use the Holy Relics,” Violet approached next to Chen Ke, grabbing his arm.

“He was just exposed to the Spirit Barrier Hand Grenade; it will take a while before any Spiritual Energy reactions become apparent. Take him back; we have ways to find out what he really is,” Morgan bumped Chen Ke’s shoulder disdainfully.

“Confiscate his weapons and his shiny diamond,” the woman with the ponytail suggested.

“No hurry now; he won’t be able to use Spiritual Energy for at least two hours. It’s fine to leave them on him,” Morgan chuckled.

Chen Ke furrowed his eyebrows, looking at the white man in front of him.

“I like the look in your eyes, clearly that of an Asian misfit who specializes in wrongdoing. I have special methods for dealing with troublemakers like you. Let’s see how tough you really are at that time,” Morgan taunted, then turned and walked to the front of the team.

Violet and the ponytailed woman flanked Chen Ke; several P.W.A.T members surrounded him front and back. The team quickly moved downstairs.

Outside the building.

Four black SUVs were parked outside the cordon. Bader and nine FPI agents arrived on the scene, finding the incident in the building much more complicated than expected. In just one night and a morning, it had become the most dangerous place in Opportunity City.

“P.W.A.T has already been in for more than ten minutes, and the operation is not yet over,” the P.W.A.T deputy commander briefed Bader on the current situation.

“I have a bad feeling. Has the CPA already sent someone in? Should it be Violet leading the team?” Bader asked.

“The CPA did go in, along with Lieutenant Morgan, but I’m not sure if the robust lady is Violet; they seem to be having a hard time. They just called for the Spiritual Ability Special Forces, and the Administration Bureau should be sending R6,” the deputy commander said.

“That must be Violet then. Are things that bad?” Bader was noncommittal.

“It might only get worse,” the deputy commander shrugged.
