Chapter 93: Chapter 093 Below the Deep Sea

The motorcade slowly approached the docks, as several elite bodyguards in black suits emerged from the five SUVs, each holding MP5SD submachine guns. They all sported buzz cuts, wore sunglasses, and had tall, burly statures.

An imposing limousine was particularly striking. A bodyguard opened the door, and from inside the limo, a fat, middle-aged man in a black suit stepped out.

The man was not short, and he was also very sturdy, but Chen Ke was too far away to see his face clearly.

“Guys, I think it’s time we took off,” Hall said.

“Why not wait? Don’t you want to see what’s actually going on here?” Chen Ke turned to ask.

“Look, there are twenty bodyguards equipped with MP5s down there, and there’s only four of us. If we’re discovered, it won’t end well,” Hall shook his head.

...

“Then we just won’t get caught. I have a feeling this little port is hiding a big secret,” Chen Ke insisted.

“You really have a death wish, Chen Ke… But I like that about you. Let’s go down there and see if we can get a bit closer. However, the moment something feels off, we leave immediately,” Hall said with a smile.

“That’s settled, then. Let’s get moving,” Chen Ke replied.

The two of them quietly descended the stairways inside the building and sneaked down to the first floor.

The man in the suit, protected by his bodyguards, made his way to the dock as if he was on familiar territory, obviously not his first time there.

Chen Ke and his partner also exited through the building’s back door, following along the base of the walls towards the depths of the dock.

They avoided security along the way. At the docks, there were even more containers for hiding, some of which were empty and had been sitting for a while, showing rust.

The two slipped into a red empty container. Not far away, the man in the black suit and his bodyguards were waiting for something by the dockside.

After a few minutes, a large luxury yacht chugged from a distance, heading towards the harbor.

The ship docked at the pier and looked to have the capacity for ocean voyages. Some strange, large equipment was on the bow of the ship, now covered with a white tarpaulin. Chen Ke guessed it was whale hunting equipment.

When the ship finally docked securely, a group of sailors in red life jackets set up a gangway from the side of the ship to the dock.

Looking towards the red hull of the ship, Chen Ke saw an English inscription catch his eye: “Horror Whip Mark.”

“Look at that big ship. What are they smuggling?” Hall couldn’t help but ask.

“It’s definitely not just the Holy Relics… and it’s not their first time,” Chen Ke analyzed.

They continued to watch.

Several injured crew were then carried out from the ship’s hold on stretchers, all covered in blood. Some were bandaged all over. Even from a distance, Chen Ke could tell that at least half of them were already dead…

Damn, what happened? What did they encounter out at sea? Pirates?

The man in the suit paid no attention to the injured. He exchanged a few words with someone who looked like the captain, then suddenly flew into a rage. It seemed that despite the crew’s heavy sacrifices, they had failed to fulfill the task the man in the suit had given them.

“This has nothing to do with us now, Chen Ke. Let’s go,” Hall shook his head, utterly clueless about the situation before them.

Chen Ke was also at a loss. Mystery after mystery left him with no time to think.

Yet he had a strong urge to fire off a few shots at that man in the suit…

“We should leave now, Chen Ke,” Hall whispered.

“Wait, wait…” Chen Ke couldn’t let it go.

On the dock, the captain was gesturing with his hands as if trying to convey to the man in the suit that there was something incredibly huge.

He exaggeratedly spread his arms wide, gesturing, and kept talking incessantly.

But the man in the suit clearly didn’t care. Just then, a security guard suddenly ran over, said something to the bodyguards.

“I guess they’ve found the body…” Hall said.

Chen Ke felt it was pointless to stay here, so he and Hall sneaked back towards the dock gates the way they had come.

As they circled around to the other side of the dock, Chen Ke looked back at the ship moored at the pier and could see the other side from here.

He saw three terrifying scratch marks on the left side of the ship’s hull near the bow.

These scratch marks ran from bottom to top, tearing three black gashes in the steel hull as if something from the depths of the ocean had reached its claws above the surface and scratched the ship…

The four returned to the van where the driver immediately floored the gas pedal and left the port, driving back to the gun shop in silence.

Hall handed over the USB drive to Pihom, who immediately contacted Bain to analyze whether there was any usable intelligence.

Regarding information about “the company” and the subsequent affair with the docked ships, Hall also gave Pihom a brief account. Pihom looked serious, as if he knew something but didn’t want to say it.

“The company isn’t targeting us; at most, we’re just fleas in their eyes,” Pihom said.

Lucina was downcast, anxiously waiting for Bain’s response, while Priskin went back to work on his shotgun Gatling. Pihom approached Chen Ke, patted his shoulder, and said, “Don’t let these irrelevant matters trouble you, what we need to do now is figure out who the real enemy is.”

“I know, Pihom, I know,” Chen Ke nodded.

All he wanted now was to hit Si’s consortium quickly to see what they were really up to and now, one mystery and problem after another seemed to be delaying his goal.

“You’re full of energy; you’ll get what you want, Chen Ke, but don’t be impatient,” Pihom said.

Chen Ke smiled, the countdown clock on the corner of his eye showed fifteen hours of life remaining.

His cellphone vibrated; he took it out to see it was Lester.

“The suit is ready,” read the simple message.

That quick? Really efficient!

Chen Ke perked up.

After saying goodbye to Pihom, Chen Ke took a taxi to the Zio suit shop, where Lester emerged from the back room behind the counter to greet him.

“I didn’t expect it so soon,” Chen Ke said with a smile.

“No, no… it wasn’t us, I have my own ready-to-wear factory…” Lester replied.

“Oh?!” Chen Ke was taken aback, not expecting the man before him to be so wealthy.

“Come in and try it on,” Lester gestured.

The suit hanging on the rack had been altered but hadn’t lost its mutated attribute. Beneath the suit jacket was a white shirt paired with a strikingly bright red tie.

“A red tie?” Chen Ke asked with interest.

“If you feel it doesn’t match your style, you can change it for another color. But then it wouldn’t be a complete set,” Lester said.

“No, no, it’s pretty nice as it is,” Chen Ke replied, and, removing his somewhat dirty trench coat, he took the suit into the fitting room.

When he came out again, he was dressed in a whole new outfit, a handsome all-black suit that fit him perfectly after being tailored, almost like a second skin for Chen Ke.

The only thing missing was a pair of black leather shoes.

“I wouldn’t mind giving you a discount on a pair. You know, a suit always has to go with leather shoes,” Lester said with a smile.
