Chapter 1120: Big Situation

“Meow~”
Gu Yang heard a cat’s scream.
She followed the voice and spotted a kitten rolling on the ground, engulfed in flames.
Its fur was singed in patches, and its body was covered in dirt.
Gu Yang quickly pulled out the half-empty bottle of mineral water from her backpack, poured it over the kitten, and extinguished the fire.
Only then did the kitten stop struggling. It dragged its charred body into the grass to hide.
It seemed to be a wild cat, clearly frightened of people.
However, what Gu Yang didn’t expect was that when she returned to the orphanage, the singed little kitten was following her.
She paused at the door and crouched down, signaling for it to come closer.
The little kitten hesitated for a moment but then ran over and licked her hand with its pink tongue.
Cao Cuo squatted beside her, gazing lovingly at the burnt kitten. “Can we keep it?”
Gu Yang carefully avoided its burned spots, pinched the back of its neck, and lifted it up. “Sure. Now that it’s back, let’s raise it.”
“It looks like an orange cat. Big Orange is more important! We’ll raise it to be nice and fat in the future.”
The story of the tattooed man’s heroic deeds made the local newspaper in Liang City. Gu Yang saw him featured in the Liang City Daily, along with photos of the police awarding him the Heroic Deed Award and a pennant.
In the photo, the tattooed uncle was holding a silk banner and smiling genuinely.
Gu Yang noticed the banner featured the words “Seeing injustice on the road, draw your sword to help” and couldn’t help but smile.
It was yet another rather silly banner.
As that thought crossed her mind, Gu Yang froze.
Another?
Why did she subconsciously think that she, too, had a silk banner that proclaimed “helping out when I see injustice”?
How strange.
Not long after, Gu Yang saw Shen Ran and his sister again at the orphanage.
She was surprised; she remembered hearing from their neighbors that the siblings had parents who had gone out to do business.
The siblings appeared downcast, with Shen Qin crying.
When Shen Ran spotted Gu Yang, his mood brightened. He looked at her in surprise. “You—why are you here?”
Gu Yang replied, “I’m always here.”
Director Liang was also surprised to see Gu Yang interacting with the two children.
Shen Ran tugged on Shen Qin’s arm. “Sister, she’s the little girl who saved us with that uncle the other day.”@@novelbin@@
Shen Qin sniffled and looked at Gu Yang with tear-filled eyes. “Thank you, Sister.”
However, when she spoke, her bottom lip quivered again, making it clear she wanted to cry.
Gu Yang couldn’t bear to see the little girl in distress. She gently rubbed her head and said in a soothing voice, “You don’t have to thank me. My name is Gu Yang. If you ever need help, you can come to me.”
After Director Liang arranged for the life teacher at the orphanage to help settle the siblings in, he sighed. “Life is unpredictable. These two little ones have faced so much misfortune.”
“A few days ago, their parents locked them in the house while they went out to discuss business to keep them from wandering off. Unfortunately, a fire broke out.”
“If no one had discovered them in time, they probably would have perished.”
“They survived the fire, but when their parents rushed back after hearing the news, they were involved in a car accident on the way. Tragically, neither of them survived.”
“With their parents gone and no other relatives to care for them, the police brought them to our orphanage.”
Gu Yang was taken aback. “That’s so terrible.”
No wonder the little girl was crying so hard.
Her brother likely felt he had to be strong for his younger sister, which is why he was holding back his tears.
Director Liang rubbed Gu Yang’s head affectionately. “I didn’t expect you to be one of the people who saved them. Yangyang, you truly are a kind and wonderful child.”
What do you think?
