Noah strode through the glass doors of Walls4Us, his presence immediately commanding attention despite his casual demeanour. The receptionist, Emma, practically jumped from her seat mid-conversation with a client.

"Sorry, give me a moment," Emma said to the customer, already moving toward Noah with efficiency.

"Sure," the customer replied, not looking up.

"Good morning, boss." Emma’s greeting was crisp, professional.

Noah gave his characteristic nod. "Good morning."

The simple exchange triggered something in the customer. That voice – deep, authoritative, unmistakable. Sarah’s heart stopped for a moment as her mind raced through years of ’coincidences.’

The lost contracts that mysteriously renewed. The clients who suddenly changed their minds. The promotional opportunities that seemed to fall into her lap.

Sarah turned slowly, her suspicions confirmed as she faced Noah.

The man she’d known as her daughter’s ex-boyfriend stood there, radiating quiet power. The boss. The owner.

The invisible hand that had been supporting her all along.

Memories crashed through her mind like dominoes falling.

The time her biggest client threatened to pull out – suddenly reversed their decision. The contracts she’d gotten when finances were tight. @@novelbin@@

Her legs felt weak as the reality hit her.

After everything that had happened between Noah and her daughter Layla, after all the pain and drama, he’d been silently watching over them. Supporting them. Never once letting on that he owned the company that had become Sarah’s sanctuary.

The weight of this revelation made her grip the counter for support.

Noah hadn’t just given her a job. He’d given her dignity. Let her believe in herself. Never once used his position to make her feel indebted.

And Layla... Layla had no idea that the man she’d treated so badly was the reason they’d managed to stay afloat all these years.

Sarah’s throat tightened as she watched Noah walk past, his attention already on business matters with Emma.

He didn’t even glance her way – no smugness, no silent request for gratitude.

Just the same strength she’d always sensed in him, now magnified a hundredfold.

Noah stepped into the elevator, leaving Sarah frozen in the lobby as years of realizations crashed through her mind.

"Lady Sarah?" Emma’s voice snapped her back to reality. "The CEO John will attend to you shortly. He’s handling something important right now. Please, have a seat."

Sarah nodded mechanically, her thoughts still a whirlwind.

"Would you like some coffee? Tea?"

"Tea," Sarah mumbled, barely registering her own response.

Emma returned moments later with a steaming cup. The aroma hit Sarah’s senses even before she took her first sip. As the warm liquid touched her lips, something extraordinary happened. The chaos in her mind began to settle. The overwhelming anxiety that had been crushing her chest eased away, replaced by an unusual clarity.

She took another sip, then another. Each one seemed to wash away the mental fog that had been clouding her thoughts.

"Excuse me," Sarah called out to Emma, suddenly alert.

"Yes, Lady Sarah?"

"This tea..." Sarah stared at the cup in wonder. "Where did you get it from? It’s magical."

Emma smiled as if she’d heard this reaction many times before. "The tea? It’s from our owner, Noah Thompson. He has a teahouse nearby. We always get a few boxes when our inventory runs out."

Sarah’s fingers tightened around the cup. Of course. Even this small comfort, this moment of peace – it was Noah again.

Sarah took another sip of the tea, a bitter laugh caught in her throat.

’Funny how the only thing that makes me feel better, after you... is from you.’ The thought hit harder than she expected.

Every time she looked at Noah, she saw what could have been. The way he handled everything with such effortless grace. But there was an invisible wall between them, built with bricks labelled "Layla" and mortared with societal expectations.

She couldn’t be with her daughter’s ex. Simple as that. It didn’t matter that her heart raced whenever he was near, or that she found herself searching for his face in every crowd. Some lines couldn’t be crossed.

The tea warmed her hands as another thought crept in, more dangerous than the rest.

’Would Noah want to?’

The question hung in her mind, unwelcome but persistent.

’Stop it,’ she scolded herself, taking another sip of the impossibly soothing tea. ’You’re acting like a lovesick teenager.’

But the thought remained, burning quietly like an ember that refused to die.

...

The meeting Noah had with John was about ten minutes long.

"Ding."

Sarah who was sipping on the tea, moved her eyes towards the elevator.

She saw John the CEO, following Noah with a flattery smile on his face.

After Noah had left the company, John walked towards Sarah.

Sarah’s thoughts were interrupted as John, finally appeared in front of her.

"Lady Sarah, sorry for the wait. Let’s discuss your proposal."

Her mind snapped back to business mode, but the tea’s warmth lingered, along with thoughts of its provider.

...

An hour later, she left Walls4Us with a signed contract. The victory felt hollow now that she knew the truth.

Stepping onto the street, she made her way to her next destination.

Her eyes caught sight of the large shop she had been looking for. ’Thompson’s Tea House’ read the elegant sign. Before she could stop herself, her feet were moving.

The shop’s interior was a study of understated luxury. Dark wood, soft lighting, and the most incredible array of tea aromas she’d ever encountered.

"Welcome to Thompson’s," David greeted her. "First time?"

Sarah nodded, still taking in the atmosphere. "I want to buy your tea leaves."

"Sure, what size would you like?"

"Small."

As David reached for one of the signature boxes, Sarah’s attention caught on an elegant plaque beside the display.

"Thompson’s Exclusive Collection."

David’s voice pulled her attention back. "This is our signature Clarity Blend. The recipe is a closely guarded secret – Mr. Thompson personally oversees its production."

Sarah’s fingers traced the embossed logo on the box. Another piece of Noah’s world, another reminder of how much thought he put into everything he touched.
