Chapter Five Hundred Seventy-Nine
Before Lan Wan’er could finish speaking, Long Xiaoshan had embraced her.
He gave her an exceedingly passionate long kiss. Lan Wan’er tried to resist at first, but she couldn’t stand against Long Xiaoshan’s passion, and after a while, she wrapped her arms around Long Xiaoshan, responding with equal fervor, making Hua Die beside them blush with embarrassment.
It took some time before the two finally separated.
Long Xiaoshan wiped away the tear stains on Lan Wan’er’s face and said, “Alright, I know now, I’ll never leave you behind again.”
Long Xiaoshan felt deeply moved in his heart.
He hadn’t expected that this little vixen would actually be willing to die with him.
When he first met her, this little vixen was incredibly troublesome, always playing tricks. Despite saving her several times, not only was she ungrateful, but she also tried to control him.
Now, even though she was still quite mischievous, their relationship had clearly changed.
He knew that this little vixen had definitely fallen in love with him now.
The feeling was incomparably wonderful.
Conquering such a little vixen was no easy feat—it wasn’t something that could be done just by sleeping with her a few times.
With her hand drawing circles on Long Xiaoshan’s chest, Lan Wan’er said fiercely, “Don’t think sweet talk will make me forgive you. I did not plan to die with you. If you ever leave me behind again, I’ll find seven or eight guys more handsome than you and make you wear a whole bunch of green hats.”
Long Xiaoshan laughed heartily.
He pulled Lan Wan’er’s waist tighter against him and said, “Do you think you could bear it?”
“Ahem…”
Right then, a man’s voice sounded beside them, “Excuse me for interrupting, but this place might not be safe right now.”
Long Xiaoshan looked up and saw the man who had been with Lan Wan’er and Hua Die. He was an average-looking middle-aged man from Southeast Asia, the sort who would never stand out in a crowd, and he didn’t radiate any aura of cultivation at all. It was puzzling how he could be together with Lan Wan’er and the others. Long Xiaoshan asked, “Who is he?”
Lan Wan’er spoke quickly, “His name is Kabu. He’s a chef for the men from the Malay Country, just an ordinary person. However, he’s a jungle survival expert, responsible for the logistics of that group from the Malay Country. When we found him, he’d gotten separated from the Malay men after a snake attack. Hua Die suggested we bring him along. Although he’s not skilled in combat, his wilderness survival expertise is quite extensive, and he’s helped us avoid numerous dangers.”
“Didn’t you encounter the Statue Demons?” Long Xiaoshan asked.
“We didn’t encounter any Statue Demons, but we did see some statues. Kabu said those statues were dangerous, so he told us to avoid them.”
“You knew those statues were dangerous?”
Long Xiaoshan looked at Kabu with suspicion. It was impressive for an ordinary man to be so knowledgeable.
To think that even the Snake Spirit Zunzhe and the White Dragon King didn’t avoid the Statue Demons.
Kabu seemed to notice Long Xiaoshan’s doubt and bowed in respect, “Honorable guest, my family used to be natives of Pao Island, but later, this island was taken over by powerful forces from the Southern Ocean, and we, the natives of Pao Island, were forced to move to the mainland. However, our family has passed down many legends about Pao Island. The legends say that Pao Island hides an Ancient Witch City, inhabited by the true members of the Witch Clan. The Witch Clan has since vanished, but the Witch City and the guardianship of the statues remain. It is because of these legends that I suspected those statues were dangerous.”
From Kabu’s mouth, Long Xiaoshan heard so many secrets.
Stories about the Ancient Witch City and the Witch Clan.
“`
This is all unheard of to me.
He became very interested and asked, “Mr. Kabu, can you tell me more about this?”
“Of course, this is all longstanding lore. I don’t know how much truth remains in it, and it’s not a secret. Just listen casually and don’t take it too seriously,” Kabu said easily.
“Thank you, Mr. Kabu.”
“Let’s do this, we can talk while we walk. I’m actually very curious to see if this really is the Ancient Witch City,” Kabu said.
With that, the four of them started walking forward.
Long Xiaoshan listened to Kabu talk about the secrets of the Ancient Witch City while they walked.
Although Kabu was a local, he seemed to have quite a bit of knowledge, especially about the Ancient Witch City. He would warn them about any potential dangers they might encounter.
The group walked for an hour without encountering any danger. Long Xiaoshan couldn’t help but look at Kabu with new respect. It was impressive how this ordinary person could avoid danger when the people from the Malay Country had disappeared.
As they were talking,
a grand and immense structure suddenly appeared before them.
It was much more magnificent than the other buildings in the ancient city, built atop a terraced stone platform with thousands of steps, evidently the central building of the ancient city.
An excited light shone on Kabu’s face as he said, “This place is certainly no ordinary location. Let’s go in and take a look.”
Long Xiaoshan certainly wanted to go inside too, but his Heavenly Eye had already seen many Statue Demons prowling around the palace outside. There were thousands of them, densely packed, all around the stairs of the great hall, yet none set foot on the steps.
Noticing this detail, he surveyed the majestic hall before him, wondering if there was something special about it, or else why those Statue Demons wouldn’t ascend the steps.
Long Xiaoshan said, “Wait here for me, I’ll go and investigate.”
With that, Long Xiaoshan rushed out quickly. He soon reached the bottom of the stairs, where the Statue Demons saw him and charged towards him. Long Xiaoshan leaped mightily, jumping more than ten meters high, then stepped on the head of one statue for leverage and jumped onto the steps. The Statue Demons roared but didn’t step onto the staircase. Long Xiaoshan understood that the Statue Demons indeed could not step onto the stairs.
He hurriedly threw out a large number of Array Jade Plaques, trapping a great number of Statue Demons, and then rushed back to Lan Wan’er and the others and said, “Follow me up now.”
The few of them quickly followed Long Xiaoshan through the formation and onto the stairs.
Long Xiaoshan didn’t bother with the Statue Demons and climbed up the stairs. The group finally reached the great hall on the stone platform. Upon entering, Long Xiaoshan saw many familiar faces—it was the numerous forces from the Southern Ocean. All of them had run here, which explained why there were so many Statue Demons standing below the stairs; they were probably attracted by these people.
These people also saw Long Xiaoshan and his group coming in.
Long Xiaoshan hadn’t even asked them what was going on,
when five or six people from the Southern Ocean stood up and walked straight towards him.
A few of them reached Long Xiaoshan and surrounded him. “You took our things just now. Return them all to us,” they said.
Long Xiaoshan glanced at these men suspiciously and said, “You want to take your things back? Have you forgotten the trade we just made? I helped trap the Statue Demons for you, and you gave me the things you had on you.”
