Chapter 532: Chapter 580: Burn the Bridge after Crossing
Chapter Five Hundred Eighty
Long Xiaoshan gave these people a suspicious glance and said, “You want your stuff back? Have you forgotten we just made a deal? I helped you trap the Statue Demon, and you gave me what you had.”
“How can that be, we only let you temporarily safeguard our belongings. Now we’re safe, you should return them to us. Young man, considering you’ve helped us, we can offer you a little something in return. Of course, the most important thing is, you can earn our friendship. In the Southern Ocean, there aren’t many who can boast of our friendship. We are offering it to you seeing potential in you,” said these people with an air of smug seniority.
“Ha ha ha, have your brains been kicked by a donkey? Get lost, I don’t have time to play word games with you.” Long Xiaoshan couldn’t be bothered with these people; he’d seen enough of their sort, who cross the river and demolish the bridge.
These Southerners were nothing but cannon fodder.
None of the representatives from major powers like the Xue Ling Sect, White Dragon Temple, or Serpent Witch Sect had spoken up.
If Long Xiaoshan were to be threatened or bribed by these fools into handing over the items, the rest of the Southerners would definitely carve him up like a piece of fat meat since he had just plundered their most valuable possessions.
The uncompromising words of Long Xiaoshan changed the complexions of the Southerners to an incredibly unsightly hue, and an elderly Sorcerer said coldly, “Young man, your greed is like a snake trying to swallow an elephant. Do you really want to make enemies out of all of us?”
Lan Wan’er, curious by their side, asked, “What’s going on?”
Long Xiaoshan recounted the recent events where these people were surrounded by the Statue Demon and had made a deal with him.
Upon hearing this, Lan Wan’er’s eyebrows shot up, and she scolded the Southerners fiercely, “You bunch of idiots, do you think we’re easy to bully? You want your things back? Talk more nonsense, and I’ll feed all your heads to my insects. After all, you’re just a bunch of pig-brains, useless to keep around.”
Lan Wan’er’s display of aggression was, to put it mildly, impressive.
The scolding left the Southerners’ faces ashen.
The woman before them was bewitchingly beautiful and had a figure that was stunningly voluptuous, but it was a shame she was just a fiery pepper; they had hardly spoken, and she had already given them a severe tongue-lashing.
The Southerners had survived to this day; they were renowned figures in their own right within the Southern Ocean region. When had they ever been schooled like grandsons? Moreover, Lan Wan’er was much younger than them, young enough to be their daughter by a long shot.
“You little wretch, what did you just call us? You’re the one courting death.”
The Southern Ocean Sorcerer who had spoken earlier was furious and reached out to strike.
But as soon as he raised his hand, Lan Wan’er was even faster to act, opening her mouth and exuding a jet of black light. The Sorcerer was quick too, with a burst of dark energy erupting from his body, transforming into a hand trying to grasp the black light.
Suddenly, the black light exploded.
It turned into countless insect-sized bugs that swarmed over the Sorcerer.
The bugs burrowed into the Sorcerer’s body, promptly causing him to emit a chilling, agonized scream.
Creak, crunch, the horrifying sound of the insects devouring flesh and bone echoed.
The Sorcerer’s body visibly shriveled at an alarming rate.
He collapsed to the ground in no time.
The other Southerners saw Lan Wan’er’s formidable manner, how she instantly killed one of their companions with a move and promptly changed their expressions. They immediately initiated their attacks on Lan Wan’er, some using spells, others engaged in close combat.
All of these were definitely experts.
Lan Wan’er could handle one or two of them.
But when their numbers increased, she had no way to cope.
A short and skinny man from the Southern Ocean, who seemed like a ghost, vanished and reappeared behind Lan Wan’er, thrusting a conical dagger towards her back. His speed was very fast, and Lan Wan’er, who was merely a Gu Master, had no chance to dodge.
It seemed that the dagger had already pierced Lan Wan’er’s clothing.
The short, skinny Southern Ocean man’s face revealed a cruel smile, but suddenly his smile froze because his dagger was firmly clamped between two fingers.
He lifted his head and saw Long Xiaoshan, who had appeared in front of him at some unknown time, holding his dagger between two fingers. With a twist of his fingers, a cracking sound was heard as the dagger broke into two pieces.
The short and skinny Southern Ocean man’s face turned to utter shock; his dagger was a specially made alloy, not ordinarily sturdy, capable of easily piercing steel plates. Yet, Long Xiaoshan had just snapped it. This guy’s strength was terrifying.
In his panic, he quickly retreated, but Long Xiaoshan was even faster. He reached out with his other hand and swiftly grabbed the man’s chest.
Long Xiaoshan swung the short and skinny Southern Ocean man around in the air and then threw him away.
The short and skinny Southern Ocean man flew like a cannonball down thousands of steps and landed amongst a group of Statue Demons below.
After discarding one Southern Ocean man, Long Xiaoshan’s footwork blurred, moving to yet another man who was casting a spell. A slap landed on his face, knocking out all his teeth and, of course, interrupting his spell. Long Xiaoshan grabbed him and, as if following a set procedure, casually tossed him away. This Southern Ocean Sorcerer followed the preceding man’s fate, soaring down the steps to land amongst the Statue Demons as well.
The ground beneath Long Xiaoshan suddenly cracked open, and two white skeletal hands reached out to grab his feet, trying to drag him into the ground.
Long Xiaoshan let out a cold laugh, shook his feet with force, and stomped down, crushing the white skeletal hands to smithereens.
Then he opened his mouth and roared, causing dozens of approaching black lights to shake and fall to the ground.
With the speed of lightning, he pounced in front of the third Southern Ocean man and kicked him down the steps.
In the blink of an eye, Long Xiaoshan had thrown three men down below. It wasn’t just the high fall that would likely kill them; even if they survived the fall, landing among those Statue Demons meant certain death.
Seeing how ferocious Long Xiaoshan was, the remaining two Southern Ocean men nearly wet themselves.
They originally thought Long Xiaoshan just had some strange and crooked methods. Since there’s a difference between trapping Statue Demons and killing them, they didn’t think Long Xiaoshan’s real strength was that impressive. A young man, no matter how formidable, could only be so strong. They had given all their valuable possessions to Long Xiaoshan to save their lives and, of course, they were reluctant to part with them.
So, upon seeing Long Xiaoshan, they had threatened him to return their possessions.
But they had never expected this guy to be unusually fierce.
The two men hastily retreated, waving their hands and saying, “A misunderstanding, it’s all a misunderstanding. We don’t want our stuff anymore.”
Long Xiaoshan quickly rushed in front of the two men. With both hands, he grabbed their necks and lifted them, saying, “Now you’re saying it’s a misunderstanding. When you were surrounded by the Statue Demons earlier, how did you beg me? You wanted your things back, right? Sure, you can have them back. Go and keep the Statue Demons company.”
With that, Long Xiaoshan flung his hands, and the two men let out screams, tracing two perfect parabolas in the air as they fell below.
