Chapter 533: 581: Murderous Intent in the Ancient Hall
Chapter 533: Chapter 581: Murderous Intent in the Ancient Hall
Chapter Five Hundred Eighty-One
Xiaoshan tossed five Southern Seas experts down the stairs in one breath, sending them crashing into the crowd of Statue Demons.
The head of the Sorcerer from the Southern Ocean exploded on the ground.
A large number of tiny black Gu Insects flew out, landing in Lan Wan’er’s hand; in the blink of an eye, six Southern Seas experts perished.
The expressions of all the remaining Southern Seas experts in the grand hall changed instantly.
They had remained silent just now, but that did not mean they had no thoughts on the matter; Xiaoshan had taken all the valuable items from them. With so many treasures swallowed by Xiaoshan alone, how could these people not have any thoughts?
It was only due to their status that many did not speak out directly.
When those few Southern Seas experts became the lead birds in threatening Xiaoshan, their lack of intervention signified implicit consent. If Xiaoshan could not withstand those people, they could take the opportunity to recover everything Xiaoshan had taken.
Perhaps they could even divide up Xiaoshan himself.
Most of these Southern Ocean forces practiced arts like Sorcery; they were certainly not easy targets.
Even the White Dragon King of the White Dragon Temple, with an air of a high monk, was no easy target. Otherwise, he would have certainly stepped forward to stop the confrontation.
However, Xiaoshan had just aggressively killed six Southern Seas experts.
Although these six were not the top experts present, their deaths were enough to prove Xiaoshan’s strength. He was not someone to be taken lightly. Everyone was here to hunt for treasures, and it had become apparent that this place was not just any ordinary location—it might very well be the key area of the ancient city.
Picking a fight with Xiaoshan, an exceptional master at such a time, would not only be about winning or losing; it was certain to result in others benefiting from the fallout.
So, the others quickly turned away, no one mentioning again the treasures Xiaoshan had taken.
“Flower Gu Master!” the White Dragon King suddenly spoke.
This time, the Bai Witch Sect had entered Death God Valley in cooperation with the White Dragon King, but they had run into danger along the way and got separated. Now, seeing Hua Die approaching with Xiaoshan, the White Dragon King called out to her.
“White Dragon King,” Hua Die greeted him, though she did not move and remained standing beside Xiaoshan.
The White Dragon King’s brow furrowed when he saw Hua Die refusing to come over.
Just as he was about to speak, a rumbling noise arose, and everyone looked towards it—the doors of the grand hall were opening. The sight of the doors opening reinvigorated everyone; the grand hall was unmistakably the center of the ancient city, and who knew what could be inside this city which had appeared within Death God Valley.
Having come thus far, even if there were dangers inside, no one was willing to retreat.
The White Dragon King exclaimed, “Gentlemen, as we have all experienced, this ancient city is highly dangerous. Those Statue Demons almost killed us earlier. In my opinion, since we are all forces of the Southern Seas, we should stand united as one family and explore this grand hall together rather than splitting up and weakening our forces. Should there be any benefits inside the hall, we could distribute them according to our strength, how does that sound?”
“I agree,” seconded Snake Spirit Zunzhe.
“I also agree.”
The Southern Seas experts echoed in agreement.
They also understood that now was not the time for infighting; even if there were incredible treasures within the grand hall, one had to be alive to obtain them.
“I wonder what Sir Lang Sha thinks?” The White Dragon King looked toward Xiaoshan, who remained silent. He valued Xiaoshan’s strength, but even more, he valued Xiaoshan’s ability with the Formation.
“I have no objections,” Xiaoshan replied swiftly.
He knew that joining forces was the best option now, as he too feared the dangers within the grand hall that might be too difficult to handle alone.
“Since Sir Lang Sha has no objections, then let’s go in together,” declared the White Dragon King loudly.
Just as everyone entered,
Long Xiaoshan suddenly felt something was missing. Looking around he said, “Where’s Kabu? Where did he go?”
Lan Wan’er and Hua Die also looked around and shook their heads in turn, “I don’t know, he’s nowhere to be seen. This guy didn’t sneak in already, did he?”
Long Xiaoshan’s brows furrowed, wondering if Kabu really went in alone. That guy was indeed bold.
Although Kabu seemed like an ordinary person, there was something strange about him that made Long Xiaoshan feel unsettled, something mysteriously secretive.
Unable to find Kabu and seeing the others had gone in, Long Xiaoshan shook his head and said, “Never mind him, let’s go in too.”
Saying this, the three of them hurried inside.
The great hall was very spacious, supported by giant stone columns all around, with reliefs covering the columns.
A group of people walked deeper into the hall, quickly passing through the front hall to reach the central hall. In the middle of the central hall was a small plaza surrounded by several smaller halls, each engraved with some ancient characters resembling tadpoles.
Although these characters were ancient, the people present were wily and experienced characters with broad knowledge.
These characters, though ancient, still had patterns that could be followed.
“This is the Hall of Witchcraft Tools,”
someone shouted, and everyone immediately went to the front of that great hall. At the entrance of the hall, there were two stone statues, seven or eight meters high, wielding swords and knives. Everyone was instinctively startled by the sight of the statues, but after some probing, the statues remained motionless, and they breathed a sigh of relief.
One hasty person went forward to push the door, but Long Xiaoshan had a bad feeling and quickly said, “Don’t touch it yet.”
However, that person didn’t listen to Long Xiaoshan. As soon as they touched the door, the door trembled, revealing numerous fist-sized holes. Then, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, a barrage of black arrows shot out of the holes, turning the Southern Ocean expert who tried to open the door into a hornet’s nest.
The arrows were thick and about the thickness of a baby’s arm, one meter long, and the force of their close-range launch was definitely more terrifying than that of ordinary bullets.
Long Xiaoshan, with his quick reflexes, quickly stepped in front of Lan Wan’er and Hua Die and shouted, casting a barrage of punches and kicks, creating a blur of shadows.
All of the incoming arrows were deflected and sent flying.
But the others weren’t so lucky.
Screams of agony echoed continuously.
Most of the Southern Ocean force consisted of Sorcerers, who, although cunning, did not have strong physical bodies. Caught off guard, many of them didn’t even have the chance to use their myriad of techniques before being pierced by the black arrows.
Of course, there were also a few extraordinarily powerful Sorcerers who either turned into a puff of smoke and vanished, summoned beast pets for assistance, or conjured protective shields.
After more than ten seconds,
the barrage of arrows finally stopped.
Seven or eight bodies of Southern Ocean experts lay on the ground.
And some others were injured.
Before the group could catch their breath, suddenly there was a flash of blade light, and the two stone statues on the door shone red. The swords in their hands chopped down, splitting a Southern Ocean Sorcerer in half. These two statues were much taller and more ferocious than the ones outside.
The statues glowed red all over and charged into the crowd. The heavy sound of their blades cutting through the air resounded. Despite their massive size, their movements were far from clumsy. With plops and plops, several more Southern Ocean experts were cleaved to death in an instant.
