Chapter 18 - The Truth Comes Out

Chapter 18: The Truth Comes Out

Back home, Yang Yu lay on the couch, realizing he couldn’t just sit around and do nothing. He had to take action.

Recalling the original plot, he knew that Meng Yun and Yu Fei were about to enter their “release phase.”

First came wild nights at clubs, followed by yacht parties with beautiful women, then pool parties, and finally, exclusive singles’ events.

While Meng Yun and Yu Fei indulged in their fun, Lin Jia would hit her emotional breakdown phase. That was exactly when Wang Xin, Lin Jia’s classmate, seized the opportunity to step in.

Yang Yu couldn’t afford to waste this crucial time.

Just then, the door creaked open. He looked up and saw Ding Dian sneaking in like a thief.

Grinning, Yang Yu teased, “What are you doing here so late?”

“I missed you. Don’t you miss me too?” Ding Dian pouted playfully.

Right now, she couldn’t stand being away from him. If possible, she wanted to stick to Yang Yu’s side 24/7.

She was wearing a silk nightgown, deliberately striking a pose that was impossible to ignore.

Yang Yu wasn’t the type to hold back.

An hour later…

Following tradition, Yang Yu lit a cigarette, took a satisfying drag, and exhaled leisurely. A post-action cigarette was better than being a god.

Turning to Ding Dian, he asked, “How’s Lin Jia doing?”

“All you ever care about is Lin Jia,” Ding Dian muttered under her breath.

“What?” Yang Yu didn’t catch it.

“Nothing.” She quickly changed the subject. “By the way, Yu Fei asked me to have dinner with him tomorrow night. Should I go?” She gazed at Yang Yu expectantly.

Yang Yu shrugged indifferently. “Up to you.”

Ding Dian, thinking he was jealous, grinned. “Relax. I’m just going to end things with him.”

She kissed his cheek before adding, “Lin Jia is really heartbroken. Meng Yun hasn’t tried to get her back—not even a single call. You’d better take this chance.”

Yang Yu smirked confidently. “Don’t worry. Lin Jia is mine. She won’t escape.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure,” Ding Dian challenged. “If Meng Yun swallowed his pride and apologized now, Lin Jia would go back to him. Five years of love isn’t a joke.”

But Yang Yu, knowing the storyline, had no concerns.

“I’m a man. I know exactly what a guy does at this stage.”

“After a breakup, men enter their ‘release phase.’ Think about it—after being controlled for so long, they finally have their freedom. If it were you, what would you do?” He grinned.

“All you need to do is let Lin Jia know what Meng Yun is up to,” Yang Yu instructed.

“How would I even find that out?” Ding Dian asked, puzzled.

“Dummy, money can get anything done.” Yang Yu chuckled, tapping her head lightly.

They whispered and plotted, then things naturally escalated again. Only after another round of passion did Ding Dian sneak back to her own apartment.

Back in her room, she saw Lin Jia fast asleep. Tear stains streaked her face, and her pillow was soaked.

Seeing this, Ding Dian became even more determined to help Yang Yu and Lin Jia get together.

To her, Yang Yu was the best man in the world. Compared to him, other men weren’t even worth mentioning.

The next evening, Yu Fei and Ding Dian met at a hotpot restaurant.

Yu Fei had been holding back for over a month and was ready to let loose tonight.

But Ding Dian had different plans—she was here to break up with him.

Each had their own agenda.

As they ate, Yu Fei subtly hinted at taking her home afterward. Ding Dian pretended not to notice and smoothly steered the conversation toward Meng Yun and Lin Jia.

“Whose fault do you think it is between Meng Yun and Lin Jia?” she asked.

Yu Fei immediately took Meng Yun’s side. “Women are just too much trouble. You better not start acting like Lin Jia.”

Ding Dian frowned. “Lin Jia is pitiful too. She’s been with Meng Yun for five years, supporting him from nothing to a successful business. If you ask me, Meng Yun is the one at fault.”

“You really think they’re done for good this time?” she pressed.

“No way. It’s just another fight. They’ve been together for years—breaking up isn’t that easy,” Yu Fei said absentmindedly while texting on his phone.

His phone kept buzzing with messages.

Ding Dian knew Yu Fei had a wandering eye, so she casually asked to see his phone.

Just like in the original plot, Yu Fei “accidentally” dropped his phone into the hotpot.

After an argument, Ding Dian suggested they have a “truth session.”

They went back to the place where they first met. As drinks flowed, Yu Fei became more intoxicated and agitated. He ended up spilling every ugly truth.

The night ended in a heated fight.

And just like that, Ding Dian and Yu Fei broke up.
