Chapter 26: The Class Reunion (Part 3)

Seeing so many classmates supporting him, Wang Xin decided to own it.

“Thanks for the support, everyone. I won’t say much—I’ll down this drink, and if any of you ever need anything in the future, just ask. As long as I can help, I will,” he said boldly.

Wang Xin might not have been much to look at, but he was a prime bachelor—after all, he was a rich second-generation kid.

He had no great ambitions or remarkable skills. He was simply waiting to take over the family business. His father was a major shareholder in a publicly traded company, and Wang Xin was already working as a department manager there.

Many of these classmates had asked him for favors before, so now that he had openly declared his interest in Lin Jia, they were more than happy to play along and support him.

Some of the female classmates, however, couldn’t hide their jealousy.

Lin Jia had just broken up with Meng Yun, and now she had Wang Xin—a wealthy and devoted man—waiting for her. Could life be any more unfair?

Just then, Lin Jia pushed the door open and walked in.

“Sorry I’m late. Got held up with something,” she said apologetically.

Even in her simple outfit, her beauty was undeniable. Her skin was flawless, her face as delicate as white jade, and she wore only light makeup. But what truly stole the spotlight were her long, fair legs—they were impossible to ignore.

The male classmates couldn’t hide their admiration, while the females felt nothing but envy.

Time had passed, but Lin Jia was still stunning. If anything, she had shed her youthful innocence and now carried an air of mature elegance that was even more captivating.

Lin Jia scanned the room for a seat, and Wang Xin quickly stood up, pulling out the chair beside him.

She glanced around and saw that the only available seat was indeed next to him. Without overthinking it, she sat down.

As the group drank and chatted, they kept steering the conversation back to Lin Jia and Wang Xin.

Someone started teasing, “You’re both single—why not just get together?”

“Yeah! Wang Xin has liked you since freshman year. He’s never dated anyone else all these years. A guy this loyal is hard to find!” another chimed in.

Lin Jia frowned but said nothing. She hated being the center of this kind of attention.

She didn’t dislike Wang Xin, but she certainly didn’t like him either. She hadn’t liked him in college, and nothing had changed since.

Her silence was taken as tacit agreement.

After all, she was almost thirty—not exactly young anymore. If a rich and devoted man adored her, any other woman in her position would seriously consider it.

But Lin Jia was different.

With Yang Yu in the picture, Wang Xin didn’t stand a chance. The difference between them was night and day.

Thinking of Yang Yu, she suddenly felt like teasing him. She sent him a message, briefly describing the situation.

Now, she was curious—how would Yang Yu react?

Would he barge in and whisk her away? Or do something even more dramatic?

The thought made her secretly look forward to it.

While Lin Jia was engrossed in her phone, her classmates kept pushing the matter.

“If Lin Jia isn’t saying no, Wang Xin, now’s your chance—make your move!”

“Exactly! You two are a perfect match. You’ve known each other for years, and your backgrounds are compatible.”

“Our next reunion might just be your wedding banquet!”

With everyone getting louder and more excited, Wang Xin started believing Lin Jia was on board—just too shy to admit it.

As a man, he felt it was time to step up.

He stood up and said, “Alright, everyone, listen up. I admit it—I’ve liked Lin Jia since college, and my feelings haven’t changed. If she’s willing to be with me, I’ll agree to any conditions she has. But enough teasing—let’s hear what Lin Jia has to say.”

All eyes turned to Lin Jia.

She had been lost in her own thoughts, not paying attention to their conversation. Suddenly hearing her name, she looked up, confused.

“Huh? What? What did I miss?”

A female classmate giggled and explained, “Wang Xin just confessed to you in front of everyone. Don’t you have anything to say?”

Lin Jia awkwardly waved her hand. “Oh… sorry, I was thinking about something else and didn’t catch that. We’re all classmates—let’s not joke around like this.”

The room fell into an awkward silence.

Someone muttered under their breath, “She’s being ridiculous. She’s not eighteen anymore—does she really think she can afford to be this picky?”

Of course, he only dared to say it quietly. Saying it out loud would make future reunions impossible.

Another classmate quickly tried to smooth things over.

“Looks like Lin Jia is just shy.”

“Yeah, she must be embarrassed.”

“I knew it—Wang Xin’s family is worth billions. There’s no way Lin Jia would actually say no. She’s just being reserved.”

The teasing started again, growing louder and louder.

Even with her usual patience, Lin Jia was starting to get annoyed.
