Chapter 27 - The Class Reunion (Final)

Chapter 27: The Class Reunion (Final)

As soon as Yang Yu received Lin Jia’s message, he understood what was happening.

In the original storyline, Lin Jia ended up with this classmate of hers. Even though Yang Yu didn’t see Wang Xin as a threat, he wasn’t about to miss such a golden opportunity to make a grand entrance and put him in his place.

He called the hotel to gather some details, only to find out that it was owned by his Yang Group. In fact, it was just one of the hundred-plus hotels under his company’s control. That made things easy—he instantly came up with the perfect plan to make his entrance.

After making a few calls to set everything up, he got up, ready to make a dramatic appearance.

He also texted Lin Jia: I’m on my way.

Meanwhile, Lin Jia, still fuming, saw Yang Yu’s message. Unconsciously, the corners of her lips lifted, and she felt a surge of happiness.

Just as she was enjoying the moment, someone ruined it.

“Lin Jia, if you’re feeling shy, let Wang Xin take you home. You two can talk in private,” someone suggested.

Annoyed, Lin Jia immediately responded, “No need. My boyfriend is coming to pick me up.”

The entire table fell silent.

After all their efforts to push Lin Jia and Wang Xin together, it turned out she already had a boyfriend. What an awkward situation.

After the initial silence, the gossiping started.

“Didn’t you just break up with Meng Yun? How do you already have a new boyfriend?”

“Wait… did you get back together with Meng Yun?”

“Or are you just making up a boyfriend to avoid Wang Xin?”

No one was more shocked than Wang Xin. He had been paying close attention to Lin Jia lately, and it had only been a little over a month since her breakup. This wasn’t like her at all. Had she really gotten back with Meng Yun?

Someone finally asked, “Lin Jia, did you reconcile with Meng Yun?”

Lin Jia shook her head. “No, it’s not Meng Yun. You wouldn’t know him.”

“That fast? Someone actually managed to win over our campus beauty in just a month? He must be something special. Bring him over—we need to check him out,” someone teased.

“Yeah, getting together that quickly seems reckless. How much do you even know about him? Don’t get fooled. At least Wang Xin is reliable—we’ve known him for years,” another added, siding with Wang Xin.

“Feelings aren’t about time,” Lin Jia replied.

“What does he do?” someone asked.

Lin Jia knew Yang Yu was wealthy and had built everything on his own since he was an orphan. But she had never asked about the details of his business.

So, she vaguely replied, “He started his own business. He’s talented… and very handsome.”

The classmates assumed he was just another young entrepreneur—just like Meng Yun had been back then.

One of them sighed and advised, “Lin Jia, you’re not getting any younger. Remember how Meng Yun spent five years chasing his dreams, and you still broke up? Whether your new guy succeeds or fails, do you really have another five years to waste?”

Wang Xin finally spoke up. “Didn’t you say your boyfriend is coming to pick you up? Why not invite him in? My family has some influence in Chengdu. If he ever needs help, I’d be happy to assist.”

In reality, Wang Xin still didn’t believe Lin Jia had a new boyfriend. He was just trying to test her.

Just then, Lin Jia’s phone buzzed.

It was a message from Yang Yu: Come outside. Everything is set up—you’ll love it. Let’s see who dares chase you after this! At the end was a smug emoji.

Seeing his message, Lin Jia couldn’t help but giggle.

When she looked up, she noticed her classmates staring at her with puzzled expressions. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she stood up and said, “My boyfriend is here. I’m leaving now.”

Since the whole reunion had been centered around Lin Jia, her departure killed the mood. Everyone decided to leave as well—plus, they were all curious to see who her new boyfriend was.

As they stepped out, a male classmate opened the door first. The moment he saw what was outside, he gasped and slammed the door shut.

“What’s going on?” everyone asked, crowding around him.

The guy swallowed hard and pointed toward the door.

A few others, skeptical, pushed the door open—and were instantly stunned.

Outside, dozens of people stood in formation. Several looked like high-ranking executives, while behind them, around thirty men in black suits and sunglasses stood solemnly along the corridor.

Wang Xin recognized a few of the executives. He had dined at this hotel often and knew they were the general manager and senior managers.

Trying to act composed, he stepped forward, extended his hand, and greeted the general manager. “Hello, Mr. Li. We’ve met before—I’m Wang Xin.” He reached out for a handshake.

But Mr. Li ignored him completely and jogged over to Lin Jia, bowing slightly.

“Miss Lin, welcome. I’m Li Yang, the general manager. Please, just call me Xiao Li.”

Lin Jia was baffled. Why am I suddenly ‘Miss Lin’?

She glanced around and spotted a familiar face—the bodyguard who had frequently accompanied Yang Yu during his hospital stay. Now, he seemed to have been promoted.

When he noticed Lin Jia looking at him, he immediately stepped forward and said, “Mrs. Yang, since Mr. Yang knows you enjoy dining here, he has decided to gift you this hotel.”

Then, he pulled out a document and handed it to her.

“Just sign here, and this hotel is yours.”
