Chapter 28 - Boyfriend

Chapter 28: Boyfriend

Lin Jia’s classmates were completely stunned by what they had just witnessed.

Even she was overwhelmed by Yang Yu’s grand gesture. I haven’t even agreed to be his girlfriend, so how did I suddenly become Mrs. Yang? And now he was giving her a five-star hotel? Was she dreaming?

She wasn’t the type to be obsessed with wealth, but she wasn’t immune to vanity either. Deep down, she couldn’t help but feel a little happy.

She turned to the bodyguard and asked, “Where’s Yang Yu?”

“He’s waiting for you downstairs,” the bodyguard replied.

Lin Jia bid farewell to her classmates and left to find Yang Yu, with a group of bodyguards quickly following behind her.

She walked ahead while twenty to thirty men in black suits followed. Anyone in the hallway—whether hotel staff or wealthy guests—instinctively stepped aside to clear the way for her.

Some even secretly took photos and videos, posting them online. The images spread like wildfire, and within minutes, they were all over social media. Before long, even Meng Yun and Yu Fei saw them.

Back in the private room, Lin Jia’s classmates finally let out a breath of relief. The whole scene had been too overwhelming.

One of the bolder classmates suggested, “Should we follow her and see what kind of guy Lin Jia’s new boyfriend is?”

“Just from that display, we can already tell—he’s a filthy rich tycoon. Lin Jia is about to marry into wealth.”

“Do you think she cheated first?”

“Maybe she found an old rich guy?”

“Even if he’s not old, he can’t be that great. You can’t have everything in life.”

People always find ways to justify their envy. To them, if a man was that rich, he must have flaws elsewhere. Life couldn’t be that unfair, could it?

The gossip continued as curiosity about Lin Jia’s mysterious boyfriend grew.

Wang Xin, however, was completely frustrated. He had waited so long—praying for Lin Jia and Meng Yun to break up—only for her to already have a new boyfriend before he could make a move.

Everyone decided to go downstairs together and see for themselves.

But by the time they got there, all they saw was a Lamborghini Reventón streaking past like a bolt of lightning, followed by a convoy of ten Hummers.

Inside the car, Yang Yu smirked while driving. “So? I bet no one dares pursue you now.”

Lin Jia pouted. “I never even agreed to be your girlfriend! How can you let people spread rumors like that?”

“Rumors?” Yang Yu chuckled. “You’re the woman I’ve set my sights on. There’s no escaping.”

Lin Jia huffed, crossing her arms. “Hmph! Plenty of people are after me.”

“Not anymore,” Yang Yu teased. “From now on, no one will dare. Just accept your fate and be mine.”

Lin Jia didn’t respond.

After a while, Yang Yu glanced over, only to see tears rolling down her cheeks.

His heart clenched. He immediately slammed on the brakes, stopping the car.

“What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong? Do you… really hate me that much?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.

Lin Jia just sat there, quietly crying.

Yang Yu was utterly confused. She was fine just a moment ago! How did she suddenly start crying?

Those ‘advisors’ of his had assured him that his chances of winning Lin Jia over today were over 90%.

He decided to test her feelings one last time. If this approach didn’t work, he would have to change tactics. After all, his mission was to alter Lin Jia’s fate—there were plenty of ways to achieve that.

Carefully, he said, “If you really don’t want to be my girlfriend, I won’t force you. If that’s the case, I’ll just stay out of your life from now on.”

He unbuckled his seatbelt and pretended to open the door, as if ready to leave.

Before he could step out, Lin Jia grabbed his arm, her voice choked with emotion.

“Don’t go. It’s not that I don’t like you… I’m just scared,” she admitted. “You’re treating me so well now, but what if one day you suddenly stop? What if you don’t love me anymore? I won’t be able to handle that.”

Yang Yu exhaled, relieved.

There were other ways to complete his mission, but having Lin Jia marry him was the outcome he truly wanted.

“I will treat you the same, now and forever,” he said, gazing at her intently. “Trust me.”

Lin Jia sniffled. “Meng Yun once said the same thing… but after five years, he got tired of me. He couldn’t even be bothered to comfort me when we broke up. Men’s words are the least reliable.”

Yang Yu didn’t bother explaining.

Instead, he reached out, tilted her chin up, and kissed her.

Smooth. Swift. No hesitation.

Lin Jia didn’t even have time to react.

Minutes later, he pulled away.

“I don’t care what you think,” he said firmly. “From now on, I’m your boyfriend. I know you have trust issues, so let’s just get married as soon as possible.”

Then, he leaned in for another kiss.
