Chapter 486
Chapter 486
As Keith had expected, the reaction to the news that they would be leaving soon was different for each one of them.
The most cheerful of them became the most silent.
Feifei's silence weighed heavily on all their hearts, especially Keith's, whom she refused to talk to at all. Even when she needed some help or answers to her questions, she would use either Roulan or Rouxi as her Messengers.
Nonetheless, she was always on time for their training sessions, and she worked harder than ever before. She stopped playing around and focused only on training, studying, and resting, completely immersing herself in these things.
At any other time, Keith would have pulled her leg and teased the life out of her over this behaviour, but he knew that she was hurting and she needed some space. Hence he respected her boundaries but made sure to convey his feelings to her through the Sacred Bond that they shared.
However, she was born stubborn, and now that she was his daughter, she was even more stubborn.
Days passed by, weeks passed by, months passed by, but she did not speak to him at all. Not a single word.
It was her way of punishing him, and he accepted it without a complaint.
Rouxi too got to know her dearest sister much better in these few days. Even though she had been with her since their childhood, Feifei's stubbornness and self-control still shocked her to the core.
She did try to talk to her sister about it, trying to soothe things a little, knowing well that the reason why Keith had stayed silent about it for so long was so that they could enjoy themselves to the fullest. And she was grateful for it just as much as she was upset over it.However, what she received in reply from Feifei was a cold glare that sent chills up her spine.
The coldness in her eyes made it clear that Rouxi did not want to get involved in this matter. It was between her and Keith, and she needed to respect it.
Sad as she was to see her sister become so quiet, Rouxi knew that Feifei would be fine.
Besides, she had things on her hand that needed all her attention, so, she could not afford to dwell on the inconsequential matters.
She realised that she would have to lead and protect both Feifei and Roulan in the Lower Heaven, at least for a year or two, and she became obsessed with growing stronger.
Even though she felt a little guilty for snatching him away every night, she did not stop. She knew that it was the right thing to do.
Her best bet at improving her Realm faster was the Yin-Yang Divine Codex, which Keith had taught her and Rebecca. And so, it was not all out of desire that she indulged in carnal pleasure with him every night for the rest of their time in Aerzar.
Roulan was completely fine with the arrangement. Even though she could not sleep with Keith at night, he never refused her when she approached him with desire burning through her body, but she did exercise a lot of restraint, taking it on as a challenge as well.
And in the last few weeks, she no longer approached him, having prepared herself for the decades-long separation from him that awaited her.
Now, it was the day before their departure, and Keith's footsteps echoed in the hallway as he approached Feifei's room.
He knocked on the door twice, and then opened it, helping himself inside.
His curious eyes wandered all around the room, finding paintings in every corner, dozens of them, and Feifei was busy working on one right now.
Without disturbing her, he closely examined each painting, and he could not help but frown a little when he found them all incomplete.
A soft cry broke him out of his thoughts, and an extremely beautiful creature landed on his left shoulder.
"Hey, Feya." He lovingly scratched the Dragon's head, and then glanced at the painting again, where a Fey Dragon was drawn.
There were butterflies, pigeons, unicorns, pegasus, and wolves on other canvases. It was clear that she loved drawing animals and beasts.
However, the painting she was currently working on was different.
She had drawn herself, Rouxi, and Roulan on the canvas, and the three of them were playing with Eira and Feya, standing inside a stream that was not far away from their Palace.
Even though the painting was far from complete, it was still the best work he had seen in his entire life, even including the best of the works of Celine.
"Is it time?"
Her soft voice entered his ear when she drew back her hand from the canvas, and subconsciously, a smile crept on his face.
These were the first words she had directly spoken to him in nearly 80 days.
"We leave tonight." He lightly said, and when he watched her body tremble, he stepped forward and pulled her in his arms, squeezing her in his embrace. "I will miss you." He whispered and planted a kiss on her head.
Feifei did not answer him and just stayed in his arms, hugging him back and shedding tears on his chest.
She was still a little upset with him, but now she no longer had the strength to act strong and behave stubbornly.
"When we meet again, I will be stronger than you." She playfully, yet confidently said, pulling back and wiping away her tears.
Her soulful amethyst eyes met his beautiful orbs, and then an enchanting smile crept on her lips.
"That's possible." He admitted and then teasingly smiled. "Are you going to beat me when we meet again?"
"I will punish you just like you have been punishing us for the last several months. I will make it even." She promised.
"And what if you are not stronger than me at that time?"
"Nothing." She snorted and then smiled again, looking around at all her sketches and incomplete paintings on the canvases. "Like them?"
"They are incomplete." He said and watched her nod her head.
"You will finish them. And they should be paintings worthy enough to impress the future Yellow Empress." Feifei proudly said.
"Confident, aye?"
"I will have passed the remaining two Trials by then." She said it as a matter of fact, and he could only chuckle at her words.
"Fine. I will finish them for you." As soon as he promised her, he saw happiness sparkle in her eyes, and then she jumped up to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him.
Minutes later, she separated from him and bravely held back her tears as her emotions once again riled up in her heart.
"Shall we?" He asked.
She curiously raised her brow at him but took his arm as he led them out of the room, walking down the hallways in a comforting silence.
Feifei did not ask where they were going, and a few minutes later, when they arrived in the dining room, she received her answer.
It was dinner time.
An appetising smell filled up her lungs, making her salivate, and she smiled as she found Rouxi and Roulan waiting for them at the table.
Though Keith had been making meals for them for months, today's meal made them fall in awe at his craftsmanship once again.
As soon as they took their seat, the girls happily started plating the food, and their Father could only helplessly shake his head when he did not receive a single compliment.
"You are cruel..." Instead, he received a complaint, and Roulan voiced her thoughts that it might be the last delicious meal they are having for a while, confident that it would be hard to meet this level of craftsmanship.
"No, you will be fine." He shook his head, pouring himself some Cloud's Blood Wine. "The ingredients found here and in the Lower Heaven and Heavens are incomparable. Even if you spend thousands of years trying different delicacies, it won't be enough. I can promise you that you will find much more delicious food there than what you have on the table right now..."
"Seriously?" The former Princess of Qin Family looked at him in surprise.
"Yes."
For the first time in a long while, the meal was not a silent affair, and they all happily chatted and listened to what Keith had to share about the Lower Heaven.
Rouxi and Roulan were very happy to see Feifei back to her old self, cheerfully chatting with Keith, and they wished that she would stay happy forever.
Her smiles brightened their own moods and lifted their morale as well. And strangely, her brightness made them feel safe.
"We are going to have lots of fun!" The Future Yellow Empress suddenly said, sipping on the best of the Cloud's Blood Wine, and her two sisters surprisedly looked at her.
It was one of those moments where Feifei uttered words out of the blue, a premonition, and just those words were enough to ease all their worries.
Both of them knew that their sister was blessed when it came to sensing the future. So, if she was confident that they were going to have a lot of fun, then it meant that they were indeed going to have a lot of fun in the Lower Heaven.
After their meal ended, Keith brought them inside the Demiliore Manor on Gaia.
All three of them curiously looked at their bodies, sensing something but not seeing it, and it felt a little weird to them.
"It's the Law of Time." He informed them. "You are still under the laws of Time of Aerzar."
"Oh."
As soon as they received their answer, they stopped paying attention to it, and then Feifei ran off to meet her other sisters.
Everyone except for Venessa, Ginara, Sibyl, Avriel, and Iseul was at the Manor, and though they were all happy to see them, they also knew what it meant.
"Did he give you something to exchange for money?" Qingyue asked and was relieved when she saw Roulan nod her head.
"Some precious pills and Potions that are of no use to us. We can auction them off after arriving in a city. Money wouldn't be an issue." Rouxi assured her.
"You always knew and you did not tell us!" Feifei pouted, making Qingyue apologetically smile at her.
"Not all of us knew about it." Ingvild immediately shook her head, clearing her name, and little Helena too nodded her head to those words.
Keith sensed the presence of Jin and Baobao in the Manor, and so he excused himself to go and see them, leaving the girls to chat with each other.
What do you think?
