Chapter 487 487: Sixth Floor: The Chamber of Seven Seas (8)
Sylus stood at the center of the chaos, his staff glowing with icy brilliance as he controlled the flow of water around him. One of the monstrous Fishmen lunged at him, its eel-like tendrils whipping through the water. Sylus raised a hand, creating a dome of freezing water that encased the creature momentarily, halting its momentum. He followed up with a blast of ice shards, the projectiles striking the Fishman's torso and sending it spiraling backward.
Two more Crab Men charged at him from opposite sides, their claws poised to crush him. Sylus planted his staff firmly into the ground and muttered a spell under his breath. The water around him solidified into jagged ice spikes, shooting outward in every direction. One of the Crab Men was impaled through its midsection, its glowing body cracking under the pressure. The other narrowly avoided the spikes but was forced to retreat, giving Sylus enough time to regroup.
"Sylus, watch your flank!" Jesua shouted.
He turned just in time to see a Fishman leaping at him with a trident raised high. Sylus reacted instinctively, swinging his staff in a wide arc and summoning a wall of ice between himself and the attacker. The Fishman crashed into the barrier, shattering it into glistening shards, but Sylus was already prepared. He thrust his staff forward, sending a concentrated beam of icy energy directly into the Fishman's chest, freezing it solid before it crumbled into pieces.
Cyrus roared, his Leviathan blood surging with power as he tore into the transformed monsters. A Crab Man lunged at him, its claws snapping wildly. Cyrus caught the claw with his bare hands, his muscles straining as he forced the creature's arm back. With a feral growl, he twisted, snapping the claw clean off. The Crab Man screeched in pain, but Cyrus didn't let up. He drove his knee into its abdomen, shattering its carapace, before finishing it with a crushing blow from his tail.
A Fishman with elongated fins and glowing eyes charged at him, its eel-like tendrils lashing out. Cyrus ducked under the first strike, catching the second tendril in his hand. He yanked the creature forward, delivering a devastating headbutt that sent it reeling. Before it could recover, Cyrus whipped his tail around, striking the Fishman with enough force to send it crashing into a coral formation.
Two more monsters approached, coordinating their attacks. One Crab Man lunged low while a Fishman leapt high, aiming to catch Cyrus in a pincer movement. Cyrus twisted his body, dodging the Crab Man's claw and deflecting the Fishman's blade with his forearm. He countered by spinning in place, his tail sweeping both enemies off their feet. Without hesitation, he drove his claws into the Crab Man's chest, then turned to deliver a powerful uppercut to the Fishman, sending it spiraling into the distance.
The trio quickly adapted to the increasing intensity of the battle. Jesua used her speed to distract and isolate enemies, creating openings for Sylus and Cyrus to exploit. Sylus maintained control over the battlefield, using his ice magic to slow the creatures and limit their movements. Cyrus acted as the team's enforcer, using his raw strength to finish off any enemy that got too close.
"Focus fire on the big ones!" Jesua called out, her blade carving through another Fishman.
"On it!" Sylus replied, freezing a Crab Man's legs in place to give Cyrus a clear shot.
Cyrus charged forward, his claws glowing with energy. He slammed into the immobilized Crab Man, tearing through its defenses with relentless fury. The trio pressed forward, their movements synchronized as they worked together to push back the tide of enemies.
But the monsters showed no signs of stopping. The water churned violently, and the glow of their bioluminescent forms grew brighter, signaling that the fight was far from over. The trio tightened their formation, their determination unshaken as they prepared for the next wave.
The battle had descended into a storm of water and aggression, with the trio standing firm against the relentless onslaught of the Crab Men and Fishmen. The water swirled with dangerous currents, distorted by the creatures' manipulation of the aquatic environment. The air was thick with tension as Jesua, Sylus, and Cyrus engaged in combat, each of them finding ways to adapt, dodge, and strike in this chaotic underwater brawl.
Jesua darted through the water, her movements precise and agile. She slashed her blade at a Fishman with elongated, barbed fins, its sharp weapon slashing for her neck. With a fluid motion, Jesua spun out of the path of the blade, using her momentum to slash horizontally, cutting across the Fishman's arm, severing a fin from its body. It hissed in pain but didn't stop, attempting a sweeping blow with its sharp claws. Jesua ducked, her feet planting firmly on a large coral outcrop, propelling her upward in a graceful arc to avoid the strike. She landed on the Fishman's back, her blade sinking into its neck with a swift, clean strike.
Jesua's eyes scanned the battlefield for more threats. A Crab Man had closed in behind her, its jagged claws snapping with terrifying speed. Jesua somersaulted forward, narrowly avoiding the devastating pinch. As she landed, she spun on her heel, bringing her blade down in a deadly arc, cutting through the Crab Man's exposed underbelly, severing a leg. The creature screeched, staggering backward, but Jesua didn't hesitate. She dashed forward, slicing through the Crab Man's remaining legs, finally taking it down.
She turned back to face the incoming Fishman, now wielding a trident. Jesua danced around its thrust, using her speed to outmaneuver the weapon, then kicked off a nearby coral formation to gain distance and prepare for the next round.
Sylus, now deeply attuned to the water around him, raised his staff, causing the water to twist and form sharp ice blades. A Fishman with eel-like tendrils lunged at him, but Sylus anticipated the move. He raised his staff, summoning a barrier of water that surrounded him like a bubble. The Fishman's tendrils struck the barrier, only to be deflected by the icy surface, which froze the tendrils solid. Before the Fishman could pull away, Sylus conjured a spear of ice and thrust it forward, impaling the creature and sending it crashing to the ground.
But the next Crab Man wasn't so easily deterred. It charged, swinging its massive claws with deadly precision. Sylus raised his staff defensively, creating a thick wall of ice to intercept the strike. The Crab Man's claws collided with the ice, cracking the surface, but Sylus was ready. He summoned a burst of freezing energy, sending a spray of sharp ice shards into the creature's exposed body. The Crab Man howled in pain, retreating momentarily as Sylus advanced, summoning pillars of ice from the water below, trapping the creature and limiting its movement.
Two more Fishmen surrounded him, their weapons glinting in the dim light. Sylus kept his focus, his staff glowing with a cold aura as he froze the water between them, sending a spear of ice shooting out in rapid succession. The Fishmen attempted to dodge, but Sylus' attacks were too fast, and they were pierced by the sharp spears, their bodies freezing instantly as the water around them solidified.
Cyrus' muscles rippled with raw power as he charged into the fray. A massive Crab Man rushed at him, its enormous claws snapping through the water. Cyrus met the attack head-on, his forearms locking against the creature's claws. With a roar, he twisted his body, using the Crab Man's momentum against it, throwing the creature sideways into a rock formation. The Crab Man's shell cracked, but it wasn't done yet. As it attempted to right itself, Cyrus unleashed a devastating tail strike, smashing into its side with the force of a tidal wave, shattering the remaining shell and sending the Crab Man flying.
Cyrus' eyes darted to the Fishmen coming from his left. They were using the water to their advantage, weaving through it with terrifying speed. One swung a trident at him, aiming for his chest. Cyrus ducked under the strike, his claws coming up to catch the trident's shaft in mid-air, pulling the weapon out of the Fishman's hands. He swung his tail around to knock the creature off-balance, sending it crashing into another Fishman. With their attacks disrupted, Cyrus grabbed the nearest Fishman by its eel-like tendrils, lifting it into the air and slamming it into the rocky floor with brutal force.
But the tide was not yet in their favor. Another Fishman, this one larger and with a glowing, bio-luminescent body, swung a massive anchor at Cyrus. The anchor struck his side, but Cyrus, unfazed, grinned. His Leviathan blood boiled, and with a quick riposte, he sliced through the air with his claws, cutting clean through the anchor chain. He followed up with a series of rapid punches, each one smashing into the Fishman's face with the sound of cracking bone. Finally, with a mighty roar, he delivered a final punch that sent the Fishman flying backward, its body sinking into the depths.
What do you think?
