Chapter 42: “Damn Humans, All of You Shall Die!”
“Never in all my years of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival have I had the honor of doing so alongside a Golden Core expert. To commemorate the occasion, I instructed my disciples to prepare something grand. Immortal Master, I trust you won’t find it overwhelming?”
The old abbot chuckled as he spoke.
“Not at all,” Xiao Yu replied with a gentle smile.
Cultivators, though fond of tranquility, were not devoid of human sentiment.
“By the way, Abbot, have you checked the formation by the wolf demon’s prison? On a night like this, it’d be best to ensure everything remains secure,” Xiao Yu asked, his tone cautious.
“Rest assured!” The old abbot waved dismissively as he hung a lantern.
“I inspected it earlier. The wolf demon is as quiet as a timid maiden since the formation was reinforced. It can no longer stir up trouble. Let’s enjoy the festival in peace!”
Before his words fully settled, the ground beneath them began to tremble.
BOOM!
A thunderous explosion erupted from deep underground, shaking the entirety of Iron Pillar Temple.
As the disciples staggered, trying to keep their balance, a piercing and ferocious wolf howl ripped through the air, echoing beneath the full moon.
Awoooooo!
The cry was so sharp it reverberated in the bones. For weaker disciples, the sound was lethal; blood poured from their orifices, and they collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
CRASH!
A colossal shadow burst forth from the well, landing heavily on a rooftop. The building shuddered under the immense weight of the figure.
Backlit by the moon, the creature’s terrifying outline came into view—a massive wolf-headed humanoid with blazing red eyes, glaring hatefully at those below.
Its maw opened, and a voice brimming with malice and resentment growled:
“Cursed humans of Iron Pillar Temple! You’ve imprisoned me for a thousand years—an entire millennium! Tonight, you shall pay the price for your insolence!”
With a powerful leap, the wolf demon descended into the courtyard, its claws slicing through the terrified disciples like a reaper’s scythe. Blood sprayed, painting the stone red.
“Moon Devouring Emperor!” Xiao Yu’s pupils contracted.
The situation escalated too quickly for deliberation. Witnessing the massacre, Xiao Yu acted instinctively. His hand swept over his storage pouch, summoning his Linghong Sword into his grasp as he charged toward the rampaging beast.
“This… How is this possible?”
The old abbot, still holding a half-hung lantern, froze in disbelief.
He had personally overseen the formation’s repairs, ensuring it was in perfect condition. How could the wolf demon have broken free? The sheer impossibility of it all left him reeling.
“All of you must die!”
The wolf demon, towering as high as a house, swiped its massive claws with lethal precision. Each swing claimed multiple lives.
Buildings, no more than fragile toys before its might, collapsed under the casual flick of its powerful tail, burying more disciples beneath the rubble.
“Fireball Technique!”
Hovering mid-air on his Linghong Sword, Xiao Yu’s robes billowed in the moonlit wind. Channeling his inner fire, he formed an immense fireball between his palms, its flames imbued with the searing heat of his Golden Core essence.
The fireball shot forward, exploding against the wolf demon’s broad back in a blinding flare.
The beast halted mid-swing, turning its head slowly toward Xiao Yu. Its crimson eyes glowed menacingly.
“A Golden Core cultivator?” it rumbled, its voice dripping with disdain.
The fireball left the wolf demon unscathed, its thick hide having withstood the assault with ease.@@novelbin@@
Xiao Yu frowned, “Not even a scratch?”
Years of confinement and the constant onslaught of the formation’s suppressive power had honed the wolf demon’s body into an indomitable fortress. Its flesh was as hard as tempered steel, impervious to ordinary techniques.
“It’s been ages since I’ve tasted the flesh of a human cultivator,” the demon sneered. “You’ll make a fine appetizer tonight.”
With a blur of motion, the demon lunged at Xiao Yu, its maw agape in a predatory charge.
BOOM!
A massive jade seal materialized from above, slamming down on the demon before it reached Xiao Yu. The force of the impact sent it crashing to the ground, where the jade seal pinned it firmly in place.
The courtyard fell eerily silent.
“Brilliant move, Immortal Master! Truly brilliant!” The old abbot clapped his hands in praise, convinced the ordeal was over.
The surviving disciples, though battered and bleeding, breathed sighs of relief, grateful to have escaped death.
“It’s not over,” Xiao Yu said grimly, his tone sharp. “This wolf demon won’t die so easily. All of you, leave this place immediately.”
The old abbot’s face drained of color as realization dawned. He hurriedly ushered the remaining disciples away from the courtyard, their retreat urgent and chaotic.
No sooner had they vacated the area than the jade seal began to tremble.
The massive seal slowly rose into the air, revealing the wolf demon beneath. Its muscled arms bulged with unnatural strength as it hefted the seal high above its head.
The beast’s face twisted into a malevolent snarl, its greenish-blue skin glistening under the moonlight. Its razor-sharp fangs gleamed as it growled:
“You think this can hold me?”
“Ten Thousand Swords: Heavenly Dragon!” Xiao Yu roared, his voice resonating across the battlefield.
Behind him, a thousand swords materialized, their edges shimmering with lethal intent. With a sweep of his hand, the swords converged, forming an enormous celestial dragon of bladed light, ready to obliterate all in its path.
What do you think?
