Chapter 43: “You Should Feel Honored”

Under the bright moonlight, Xiao Yu stood tall, a thousand flying swords hovering behind him like a dazzling constellation. As the wolf demon hefted the colossal jade seal overhead, Xiao Yu’s fingers deftly twisted into a sword seal, and with a sharp motion forward, he released his attack.

A resonant cry echoed as the thousand swords instantly converged into a massive dragon of blades. The sword dragon roared fiercely, charging forward with an imposing momentum toward the wolf demon.

Sensing the incoming threat, the wolf demon threw its head back and howled at the moon. With a powerful swing, it hurled the jade seal straight at the charging sword dragon.

But the jade seal, being Xiao Yu’s own artifact, twisted midair, altering its trajectory to once again target the wolf demon itself.

The wolf demon snarled, swatting the jade seal away with its massive claws as though it were nothing more than a ball of fluff. The jade seal tumbled across the mountain range, disappearing into the depths of Wan Shou Mountain.

The enormous sword dragon collided head-on with the wolf demon. Its head smashed into the demon’s chest with an audible crash, followed by the body and tail slicing through like a relentless tide. The sharp blades made contact with its torso, producing a bone-chilling sound of steel scraping against flesh.

Despite the assault, the wolf demon’s chest remained intact, its steel-like flesh repelling the swords with ease. The dragon gradually disintegrated, its energy spent, leaving Xiao Yu’s Pure Yang Sword trembling as it returned to his grasp.

Damn it! Xiao Yu cursed inwardly. Its defences are insane!

Its already formidable power was further enhanced tonight by the full moon’s influence.

“Ha! A mere mid-stage Golden Core cultivator dares stand before me? Crushing you will be no harder than squashing an ant!” the wolf demon bellowed.

With a deafening boom, its massive legs pushed off the ground, launching its enormous form skyward. Its razor-sharp claws swiped down toward Xiao Yu with a force that could split mountains.

At the critical moment, Xiao Yu soared higher, evading the strike just in time. His Pure Yang Sword carried him above the clouds as the wolf demon’s claws raked through empty air, striking instead a nearby bell tower.

The tower crumbled instantly, its bronze bell flattened into a mangled disc.

With a snarl, the wolf demon leapt after Xiao Yu, breaking through the clouds in relentless pursuit. As a former Nascent Soul-level demon king, it had retained the ability to fly, matching Xiao Yu’s speed with ease.

“Good—it followed me.”

High above the clouds, Xiao Yu’s lips curved into a calculated smirk. This was exactly what he wanted.

Above the cloud cover, the risk of collateral damage to the temple and its inhabitants was minimized. More importantly, the secluded space gave him the freedom to unleash his true strength without worrying about revealing his trump cards.
