Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.599 Return of the Duelist

CH.599 Return of the Duelist

After Cailie’s birthday, I finished the last few devices that would be needed for the portal exploration.

I had made the device that would allow those with Summoning Magic, but lacked the Taming skill, to make summoning contracts on the other side of the portal. Naturally those who have both skills can do it without the device.

As for those who can only use Taming. Well, they can still tame monsters on the other side, but after they return, they won’t be able to summon them. But they can bring them to this side through the portal.

Which sounds great, but it does have a minor problem. The monster(s) brought to this side through the portal need some mana from the tamer. It isn’t all that much, but it is more than natural mana regeneration, unless you have Fast Mana Recovery with a decent level. And with higher rank monsters, the mana needed is even more, so you need an even higher Fast Mana Recovery skill.

So I began working on a device that could make a temporary portal to a monster the user has tamed. But that will take a while. Making a temporary portal and moving a stabilized portal are two completely different things. But I’ll eventually figure it out.

Now sadly, I won’t be joining the exploration team. I want to, but I really just can’t. I’m the dimensional fissure detergent. … Okay, not really. I’m the one that cleans them up with Exodia. That means that I really can’t be somewhere in the middle of nowhere with questionably reliable contact with HomeBase.

Thus, someone else has to lead the team. And luckily, someone perfect basically demanded to be the one leading the team. Unika.

She really is a perfect choice, as she can both summon monsters with Summoning Magic and tame them with Taming.

She is also a beast-folk, so she shouldn’t get any bad blood from the members of the Wild Pack. They’ve been getting better since our cooperation began, but they are still a bit … They don’t fully trust humans, let’s put it that way.

We, Unika and I, were about to head out to talk to Indigo and the people she picked to be a part of the portal exploration squad, but before we managed to leave, I got an alert from a miasma dosimeter. One of them had experienced a miasma surge equal to that of a dimensional fissure.

And since fissures are top priority, I immediately headed to where the alert came from by teleporting to the adventurers’ guild holding the dosimeter that sent the alert.

Unika promised she’d sent me backup and that she’d take care of business with the Wild Pack.

That guild was in a bit of a panic because of the readings, but they calmed down a bit after I arrived. The guild master knew me from the time I planted the flowers, so I quickly got some info from him. Sadly he didn’t know where the fissure was, as they hadn’t found any sort of pre-sign, so I’d have to search for it.

I asked him to have the adventurers focus on defending the town and then quickly flew up into the sky in hopes of seeing the fissure.

I didn’t spot anything immediately, so I sent out as many surveillance drones as I could, so we could find this fissure. I then activated Miasma Vision, hoping it would guide me to the fissure, and as I did, I realized why I didn’t spot anything.

I turned to face the sky and saw miasma leaking from an open fissure. That was about four, maybe five kilometers in the air. I assumed it would have appeared near the ground, as that is where they have always been. Except the one time it was in the dungeon. But still, I’ve never seen a fissure being that high up in the air.

With it being so high up, it isn’t easy to spot. Fissures are 20 to 30 meter 2 dimensional objects. So looking at it from the ground, all you would see is a thin line of visible mana and miasma.

And flying around the fissure were at least 20 wyverns. Most of them were regular B-rank wyverns, but at least three of them are larger, and thus are likely A-rank.

“... okay, monsters first.” I said to myself, as I opened my Collection. I had to get out a handful of monsters, as I had a plan. Sadly that plan needed me to summon a few monsters quickly, but luckily the wyverns were still just flying circles around the fissure, so I had the time.

“Come forth, my Hieratic Seal of the Sun Dragon Overlords.” I said, as I summoned two Dragon Balls. What? They are dragons and they are balls.

Spoiler

I then overlaid the two dragons to summon Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon. I could have summoned him without Xyz summoning, but he wouldn’t have had any material, and I kind of need material for what is coming next.

I activated Rank-Up-Magic Cipher Ascension, ranking up my Cipher Dragon into Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon.

Spoiler

“Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon! Use your effect! Use all of your overlay units to take control of as many of those wyverns as you can!”

My dragon did as ordered. Each of its mouths ate one of the overlay units, and then the dragon’s wings began to shine brightly. The bright shine turned into beams of light that struck multiple wyverns, forming a noose around the necks of the wyverns and dragging them towards Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon. A total of nine wyverns, including the three higher ranked ones, were brought to us, before an illusionary form of Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon formed around them.

“... okay. Didn’t expect that.” I admitted. I know the anime version of Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon can take as many monsters as possible, while the TCG version only takes monsters up to the number of overlay units used, so apparently mine works on anime rules, as I filled every monster zone my duel disk has with Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragons.

But they also won’t last forever, so let’s clean the rest of these wyverns while I can.

“Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragons. Attack those wyverns with Ultimate Lightwave Stream!”

Spoiler

All ten of my dragons followed my order, filling the sky with light. It was so bright that I had to turn my head so I wouldn’t become blind.

After I regained my vision, the sky was clear of wyverns and only my dragons remained. But I know I’d only have temporary control over the illusionary Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragons, so I needed to use a few more cards.

I started with Super Rejuvenation, because I was about to tribute some dragons, so I might as well get some Pack tokens while I’m at it. I then used four copies of Destruct Potion and five copies of Mystik Wok to turn the illusionary Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragons into something useful.

Spoiler

I collected all of the healing potions and the meat that dropped from the monsters into Storage, and then focused on the dimensional fissure.

Since I already had Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon out, I just equipped Xyz Unit to it, so it can use its effect if necessary, and then I summoned Exodia to close down the fissure.

Spoiler

So while Exodia closed the fissure, I watched over it with Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon. A few more wyverns came out, but we quickly took them down and then Exodia managed to close the fissure.

I unsummoned Exodia and my Galaxy-Eyes, before flying back to the ground. I asked around if there had been any damage, and after hearing that a few villagers had damage to their vision because of the Ultimate Lightwave Stream, I offered some of the Destruct Potions to them. I didn’t let a single person drink a whole bottle, only about a quarter, but considering that one bottle will heal you for 4500 HP, just a quarter is enough to heal any eye damage. And between the four bottles, that was more than enough to heal everyone.

I then gave the guild master some meat from the fake Neo Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragons so the village could have a feast tonight.

As I was telling them that, one of the B.E.S. ships arrived, having been piloted by Cailie. She had gathered some troops and flown over here as fast as possible, but sadly it took them a bit too long. Teleportation really is the way to go.

And while they were too late to join the fight, they weren’t too late to eat some dragon meat with everyone. So despite the fact that I almost teleported to HomeBase already, I decided to stay for the feast instead.

Oh, and dealing with a fissure means that I got a new set. .

And a new set means 10 packs, so let’s get straight into it.

Spoiler

Spellbook of Power is pretty nice. Sure it is a temporary buff, but still. Also, more strange books for the Factory library.

Trance the Magic Swordsman has 2600 attack, which is really nice for a level 6 monster.

Damage Mage isn’t bad, kind of reminds me of some Arc-V era cards that have the same or similar effect. Sadly Damage Mage has bad stats.

Heroic Challenger - Spartan is fine. He is just a Warrior that can in some situations gain some extra attack.

Where Arf Thou? is good for TCG use, but I probably won’t be using it.

Madolche Waltz is a meh burn card.

Three Thousand Needles is bad. It has an effect that needs it to be in defense position, but only has 1800 defense. But the 3k attack is pretty nice.

Madolche Baaple is cute, but the effect sucks.

And Imairuka is mediocre mill card that could get you a draw.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Charioteer of Prophecy is mediocre GY recovery.

Uniflora, Mystical Beast of the Forest is actually pretty cool, but I have unlimited… near unlimited copies of Monster Reborn, so I don’t need it.

Chronomaly Pyramid Eye Tablet is great. I love generic and semi-generic attack boost cards.

Chronomaly Golden Jet is just Chronomaly Xyz support. Not bad but nothing crazy. Though it is a jet, so I might be able to fly with it. But I doubt that it is as fast as the Gradius ships.

Gagagarush is a decent trap, but a bit too situational.

Noble Arms - Gallatin is an okay attack boost, but it quickly turns into an attack drain. I have better equip spells.

And Sishunder is bad GY recovery.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Heroic Challenger - Swordshield is a decent defensive card.

Madolche Butlerusk I already had. Got it from the Good Master mission. And it is an okay monster. He is also a good butler.

Madolche Mewfeuille just allows a special summon of a Madolche from the hand. Not bad, but not something I need.

Heroic Chance is a really good attack boost. And since ‘direct attack’ is basically the same as a sneak attack, it is pretty useful despite the limitation. Besides, I don’t think any Heroic monsters really want to sneak attack opponents.

Madolche Lesson is GY recovery and a decent attack boost.

Impenetrable Attack is fine, but I have better cards that do the same.

And Heroic Challenger - Double Lance is pretty nice. Just a one card Rank 4 Warrior.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Lucky Punch is stupid and I won’t be using it.

Chronomaly Technology is fine, but you really don’t need it in your regular Chronomaly deck. Between Nebra Disk and Crystal Skull, Chronomaly already have quite a bit of search power. But I guess more never really hurt anyone, except your opponent.

Chewbone is just bad. Why would I want to give three tokens to my opponent? And if I want to give them tokens, why not give them Ojama tokens instead?

And why does Madolche Tea Break return the negated Spell/Trap to the hand? That makes no sense. Just destroy it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Madolche Chateau is great. GY recovery, attack boosting and working with Madolche effects. A great Field Spell and I’ll make a Factory room for it.

Chronomaly Moai is a free special summon. Which is nice, but I have unlimited summons.

Atlantean Attack Squad can have 2200 attack, which is nice.

Turnabout is way too specific.

And Chronomaly Colossal Head isn’t that good.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Geargiaccelerator is fine, but nothing special.

Block Golem is nice, but I have unlimited Monster Reborns.

Xyz Soul is potentially a 2400 attack boost, so it is good.

Lightray Madoor is just an Aqua Madoor retrain. It does special summon itself and has 3k defense, so it isn’t bad. Just okay.

Overlay Regen is perfectly fine. Having more ways of giving monsters overlay units is good.

Hierophant of Prophecy can potentially destroy a ton of spells and traps. And it has good stats, so a good monster. I also love the robes he wears. Yugioh really does know how to make badass mages.

And Pahunder gives you an additional normal summon, which is nice, but I don’t need it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Three of a Kind is okay. It is super easy for me to get three of the same monster out. But all it does is destroy stuff, and I can do that with other cards.

And Cold Feet sucks, unless I can force my opponent to activate it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Amores of Prophecy gives you a special summon from the hand. I still don’t need that.

Galaxy Queen's Light is good for Xyz summoning.

Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing is okay. Kind of. I guess it is nice for stalling time, but the activation condition is too hefty.

Goblin Marauding Squad is more goblins for the goblin bank.

And Chronomaly Crystal Bones is great. Free special summon of two monsters from the hand is much better than just 1 monster from the hand.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Strength of Prophecy is okay. 500 attack boost is small, but it is easy to gain.

Next, and last, pack.

Spoiler

Catapult Zone is a decent Field Spell. And another Factory room.

Photon Caesar is a good way to get level 8 Xyz material on the field. Especially since I don’t have to tribute summon the thing.

Little Trooper can get me any and all Level 2 or lower Warrior-Type monsters, so that is amazing.

Madolche Magileine just searches Madolche monsters on summon.

And Revival Golem specials itself when sent from deck to GY. So decent enough.

First opening of Return of the Duelist was … okay, I suppose. One ultra rare and one super rare from ten packs isn’t amazing, but it isn’t bad either.
