Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.600 Portal Exploration Squad: Start

CH.600 Portal Exploration Squad: Start

[Unika POV]

“Alright team. Last check. Everyone has everything?” I asked the PES, or the Portal Exploration Squad.

“We are ready.” Einar and Eline confirmed.

“I have everything I should need.” Rahman, a dhampir blacksmith who is coming with us so he can repair our equipment, answered.Note: Rahman is a part of the very first set of HomeBase dhampir students. He stayed on HomeBase to learn weapon making and how to make blood iron and vampiric steel weapons.

“We are also ready.” Indigo answered. While I was in charge of the operation, she was the team leader for the Wild Pack members.

Other members of the Wild Pack were Nora, a cat-folk with a tamed lightning tiger.

Fizza, a female antler-folk who can do both taming and summoning. She has a tamed forest deer.

And last is Meraab, or just Mer. She is a Flower-folk, which is an evolution of Plant-folk. Plant-folk look a lot like humans, but their skin is green and they can sustain themselves on just sunlight and water. Mer, like Fizza, can also use both summoning and taming, but she can only tame and summon Plant monsters.

She didn’t bring any monsters with her, as the monsters she has tamed don’t move very quickly, but she can summon some monsters that will be useful in a fight. She also has plenty of knowledge on plants, and she wants to investigate the other world.

That makes our team 8 members strong. Plus some tamed monsters.

“Good. Then we are ready to go.” I declared.

We began making our way towards the portal, with most of HomeBase seeing us off. Some of them looked worried while others knew we would come home safe.

As we got to the light fence surrounding the portal, Brian was waiting to send us off.

“Good luck and come back safe.” He told us, before taking me into a deep embrace and giving me a kiss.

“Thanks. And don’t worry. We’ll be back.” I promised.

“I know. But just in case.” Brian said, as he brought out a pile of cards. “These cards are quite specific, but they might be useful for you, if you run into situations where they help. Read them when you have the time.” He told me, before adding. “If you run into Himeśaila, Nir or Luna, make sure you note down where they live.”

“We will.” I answered.

“And please.” He said quietly. “Come home safe.”

“We will.” I answered, as I kissed him again.

I then turned to face the portal. I saw the grasslands on the other side, as well as Swampert, Brian’s newest summon, on the other side. He was waiting for us just outside of the light fence on that side.

I had talked with the alligator before, just to learn some things about the grasslands, but to an alligator, things are different than to us.

So in the end, the only thing we can do is walk through.

On the other side of the portal, a similar portal stabilizer and light fence were there as well. Brian had decided that this side should also have them, and I agree. They are useful.

I opened the fence so we could exit, and after quickly greeting Swampert, and everyone getting outside of the fence, I closed the light fence so we could be on our way.

“So. Which way should we go?” I asked everyone. The Wild Pack just looked at me like I was crazy, but those who live on HomeBase didn’t question it.

“What?” I asked them. “We don’t know anything about this world. So we can pick any direction.” I told them. “Also, you might want to let your monsters out of Paradise.” I added, and did so myself.

We did just that, which caused the monsters in the grasslands to run away. Can’t blame them. TuggaIndigo’s Cerberus can be quite intimidating, but I got used to him while teaching Indigo how to use Tamer’s Paradise. We couldn’t have brought Tugga over if she couldn’t use the skill.

“This way. This way!” Nio called out, as we were pondering where to go.

“... well, that is clearly where we are going.” I just told everyone.

“Why?” Fizza asked.

“Because when Nio decides something, it is easier to follow his lead.” I answered. “And we didn’t have any set way in the first place.”

“Alright.” Indigo accepted my reason. “Team, we are heading out!”

During our first day of exploration, we didn’t find anything interesting. Fizza tamed a plains elk, just to test if she could, but other than that, we didn’t make any other tames or summoning contracts.

I also made note when our phones lost contact with HomeBase. While the portal stabilizer did have a relay station, it can only reach so far, so eventually we were out of reach.

We then began setting out our camp, which was quite easy. Brian had made me a Space Magic device that is linked to his Storage, or at least one ‘folder’ of Storage. With it, I could take out anything from that folder.

That includes a travel house Brian made for our journey. It is a large house which seemed a bit much for a travel house, but Brian insisted on it. It stood in stilts that can extend up to five meters long, so it can be placed on uneven or unstable ground. And it can also put up a barrier, so you are safe inside.

It had room for 12 people. Two one person rooms, three two person rooms and one four person room. I took over one of the single rooms, as did Rahman. Einar and Eline shared a room, while the Wild Pack spread out since we had the space. Indigo was on her own in a two person room, as was Nora. Mer and Fizza shared the four person room.

For dinner, as I had for lunch, I brought out food from Storage. Brian promised he would set out food for us in that Storage folder, so we will always have something to eat. And if he forgets, we do also carry other meals, including what Brian called MREs. Or meals ready to eat. I tested one of them and while they are food, they aren’t that good. Still better than the usual meals adventurers eat while they travel. I’m just too used to HomeBase food.

Our second day wasn’t much different from the first day, but we did learn something. Monsters that we tame in this world cannot die.  We weren’t sure, as this is the world these monsters naturally live in, but Fizza’s elk died when we had a run-in with an A-rank monster.

It simply broke apart into specs of light, like any other summoned monster, and Fizza was able to summon back the monster.

Sadly, since the elk was now summoned, it took some mana from Fizza, whereas it previously didn’t.

At the end of the day, we reached the edge of the grasslands. They were quite huge, but now we’ve reached a dense forest, and we even spotted a very tall mountain on the other side of the forest.

Next day, we will be taking our first flight, so we don’t have to traverse the forest.

As I said, today we are flying. I summoned B.E.S. Big Core MK-2 for that.

Spoiler

We didn’t use a ship on the first two days as we wanted to enjoy the sights and we are in no hurry.

But the forest we found yesterday was so dense that we would either have to change course or jump on a ship. And we picked the ship. No, we were no longer following Nio. If we did, we would be running around in circles.

While we were flying, we made sure to keep an eye on any animal paths in the forests. There were some, but they were very windy and went all over the place. So it was definitely for the best that we flew over the forest.

As we got closer to the mountain, I took note of how beautiful it was. It was shining in many, many colors. And the tip of the mountain looked like it held a giant gem of some kind.

But that appreciation quickly turned, as some of our monsters began to react to something. Even Nio seemed to be afraid of something and began to say that we can’t go to the mountain.

And when Nio is afraid, there is something bad on that mountain, so I changed course.

But sadly, it seems that I was too late, because despite our airship being invisible, something had definitely noticed us. That became apparent as a loud roar shook the ship, before a massive flame, as bright as the sun, came from the mountain and scorched the air near us. Luckily it didn’t hit the ship, as I’m not sure if the ship would have been able to take it.Yes, yes it could have. B.E.S. ships can stand up to the number of hits they have counters.

“Get us out of here!” Indigo yelled. “That kind of attack has to come from an SS-rank.”

“On it!” I answered, as I accelerated to speeds beyond what the invisibility engine of the ship could take, so I disabled it before we blasted off, luckily leaving whatever monster we pissed off behind.

As I finally slowed down our ship, and re-engaged the invisibility, I realized we were … somewhere.

We didn’t have maps on this side. The only thing we had was a direction and estimated distance to the portal. And we were way further away than we were before our little burst of flight.

The location we ended up in was another mountainous region, but this time, there was no single massive peak. Instead it was an entire mountain range, but even the tallest peaks weren’t all that tall.

I had to unsummon MK-2 soon, so since Nio was no longer afraid, we decided to land.

Nio, and the other monsters, then demanded food, despite the fact that I was not ready to eat. I need more time to calm down first.

While we were eating, a few monsters came over because of the scent of our meal, but seeing Nio and Tugga, they stayed back. But they didn’t leave, maybe thinking that Nio and Tugga might not eat it all, and that they can come after we leave to have our leftovers.

As we continued to sit and eat, a few more monsters came to us. That included a monster that I knew well. Her appearance made the members of the Wild Pack put up their guard, but I quickly calmed them down.

“Silon!” I called the nine-tailed fox. I felt my connection to her, so I knew it was her.

“Hello, Master.” My monster answered. “I didn’t think you really would come here.”

“Well, I did.” I said. “Come join us for food.” I told her. I then noticed multiple weaker fox monsters behind Silon and added. “And your friends can join too.”

As I talked with Silon, we learned some things about the area we were currently in. The strongest monster in this area, which she called the area guardian, was a great earth beast. It isn’t a monster I knew, but the foxes described it as a huge monster that lives underground, and it is what caused the mountains to form.

It sounded very powerful, but Silon reassured us that it is quite friendly. That means that we could stay here for the night.

I then asked Silon if she knew anything about the fire beast that we ran away from, but as Silon rarely leaves this area, she didn’t know much.

But she said that if we were able to get in contact with the great earth beast, he could tell us about area guardians like him, and area rulers, like the monster that attacked us. So we decided that maybe we should try to contact the beast.

And so, our third day of exploration came to an end. Sadly we experienced our first real danger, but we survived and we have a potential source of information.
