Zombie Cultivation Across Worlds

Chapter 7 – The key was to look but not touch, see but not buy

The Haotai Hotel isn't far from the Walmart.

It's only three kilometers away.

However, this is no longer the smooth-traffic modern society.

Instead, it's a zombie-infested apocalypse city.

The streets are filled with abandoned vehicles and collapsed billboards.

The road conditions are far from smooth; at the very least, they're full of obstacles.

The Wuling Divine Car took a full two hours to reach the Walmart.

***

Swish.

The car door opened.

Zhao Hong jumped out.

Following him were three dogs.

They were Dahei, Dahuang, and Erhuang.

These were his most capable, intelligent, and fierce spiritual dogs.

Zhao Hong suspiciously surveyed his surroundings.

His vision and hearing far surpassed that of ordinary people, so he easily noticed that something was off near the Walmart.

There was very little sound.

There wasn't even the low growl of zombies.

At most, there were some scurrying sounds of rats.

He had been to the territories of high-level zombies before.

But such a vast, deathly silent territory was something he was seeing for the first time.

"Let's go in and take a look."

Zhao Hong pointed at the Walmart.

The three spiritual dogs let out a low growl and entered the mall from three different routes.

Moments later, three howls echoed from inside the mall.

Zhao Hong frowned.

Before the zombie outbreak, he was familiar with the nuances of dog barks and their meanings.

This kind of barking indicated there was no danger.

"Leave one person in the car, you come with me to check it out."

Zhao Hong said casually.

"Yes."

A burly man got out of the car, bracing himself to walk ahead.

Soon, Zhao Hong and the man reached the fifth floor of the mall without any hindrance.@@novelbin@@

Seeing the scene here, Zhao Hong's heart couldn't help but skip a beat.

It had been five years since the zombie outbreak.

He was used to all kinds of bloody scenes.

But such an eerie sight was something he was seeing for the first time.

Throughout the mall, from the first to the fifth floor, there were scattered zombie flesh pieces everywhere.

It was summer, so there should have been swarms of flies.

However, not a single fly dared to approach this mall.

The scene on the fifth floor was even more terrifying.

There were several large bathtubs.

Inside was a layer of dried black-red blood, full of impurities.

In a corner not far away, there were two shriveled, emaciated zombies.

These two zombies had blood holes dug all over their bodies, and some red plants were growing from them.

However, these plants were now all withered.

It felt as if the plants had drained all the nutrients from their bodies.

Zhao Hong's heart tightened.

"Boss... what do we do now?" The burly man beside him was trembling.

"Are you cold?" Zhao Hong suddenly asked.

The burly man shivered all over, "Cold, very cold, the temperature here is very low."

Zhao Hong felt an inexplicable fear rising in his heart.

The outdoor temperature was at least thirty degrees.

Yet, inside the Walmart, he felt cold.

This was too abnormal.

Zhao Hong knew that staying in an abnormal place was dangerous!

"Let's go."

He didn't dare linger any longer and turned to leave.

Once back in the car, he gradually calmed down.

"Did you bring gasoline?"

Zhao Hong lit a cigarette, blew out a few smoke rings, and suddenly asked.

"Yes, boss, just give the order." The two burly men nodded.

"Burn this place down, it's too eerie." Zhao Hong said calmly.

"Yes!"

***

Moments later, thick black smoke rose above the Walmart.

The piercing cold seemed to dissipate with the flames.

Only then did Zhao Hong's heart settle back into place.

"Let's go back."

He casually tossed the unfinished cigarette out the car window, crossed his legs, and said nonchalantly.

The Wuling Divine Car started up again and quickly disappeared into the street.

***

Cangxuan Continent, Yu Kingdom, outside Clear River City.

In a lush forest.

The empty space suddenly twisted.

In the blink of an eye, a figure appeared out of thin air.

Startling the birds on the treetops and scaring away the squirrels on the branches.

"I'm back."

Chu Xuan looked around, took a deep breath, and smiled.

The air here was filled with spiritual energy, much better than the air on that apocalypse planet.

"First thing, I need to find out if the time flow is consistent between the two worlds. Second thing, I need to buy corpse refinement materials and a large number of spiritual plant seeds.

Third thing, I need to find the secret trading spots of demonic cultivators like the Wuji Sect and Corpse Puppet Sect to purchase the Blood Transformation Formation."

With his plan set, Chu Xuan immediately took out a human skin mask and put it on.

After a slight disguise, he transformed from a cold-looking young man into a burly bald man.

Though the Disguise Technique was a minor art, Chu Xuan had used it many times to escape danger.

Now, disguising himself was second nature.

"I remember, three hundred miles south of Clear River City, there's a valley rich in spiritual energy, which is a marketplace."

Chu Xuan took out a flying sword and flew south of Clear River City.

This flying sword was just a low-grade flying spiritual artifact, with a flying speed of three hundred miles per hour.

It consumed one small spirit stone per thousand miles.

It was a second-hand artifact Chu Xuan had bought from the Wuji Sect.

Its speed and consumption were just average.

In the future, if he had extra spirit stones, he would definitely buy a better flying artifact.

An hour later, Chu Xuan arrived at the marketplace.

"Taiping Market."

Chu Xuan strode into the market.

A thousand miles further south of Taiping Market was the mountain gate of the Divine Gang Sect, one of the five righteous sects of the Yu Kingdom.

This small market was naturally not directly controlled by the Divine Gang Sect.

Instead, it was run by the cultivation families under the Divine Gang Sect.

These families were mostly established by Foundation Establishment stage cultivators who had no hope of advancing within the Divine Gang Sect.

Any offspring born with spiritual roots would be immediately sent to the Divine Gang Sect to practice.

Thus, continuing to strengthen the family.

Taiping Market was controlled by the Wu family.

The Wu family ancestor was a nearly two-hundred-year-old Foundation Establishment stage cultivator.

Most of the cultivators who came to Taiping Market to sell and trade were in the early or mid Qi Refining stage.

Even late-stage cultivators were rare.

Chu Xuan had already gathered all this information before coming here.

As a demonic cultivator hunted by everyone, if he didn't gather such information beforehand and stepped into unknown territory lightly, the outcome would be disastrous.

Upon arriving at Taiping Market, Chu Xuan didn't immediately purchase what he needed.

Cultivators lived longer and knew how to overcharge.

As a newcomer, they would definitely raise the prices on him.

So, he planned to stay for a few days.

In the beginning, he would just browse.

The key was to look but not touch, see but not buy.

Chu Xuan found a tea house specifically for cultivators to rest, ordered a pot of spiritual tea, and quietly drank while listening to others' conversations.

Cultivators' conversations were naturally not as chaotic as mortals', allowing him to eavesdrop.

Some were very cautious, even using spiritual power to shield their conversations.

Therefore, as a fellow Qi Refining stage cultivator, it was indeed difficult to overhear others' discussions.

But Chu Xuan had a Listening Insect in each ear.

These little insects could amplify his hearing.

Naturally, he could catch bits and pieces of others' words.
