Chapter 8 – Do you guarantee these fruits are ripe?
Chu Xuan's ears twitched as he glanced toward the nearby table and chairs.
There, two Qi Refining stage cultivators sat facing each other.
The skinny cultivator asked, "…Fellow Daoist, are there any bounty tasks at Taiping Market? I'm a bit short on spirit stones."
The burly cultivator replied, "Yes, there is. Help the Divine Gang Sect find remnants of the Wuji Sect. You get three hundred small spirit stones for each one you find. Oh, and Senior Sun from the Divine Gang Sect said if you find that Qi Refining stage cultivator Chu Xuan, you'll get four hundred small spirit stones."
"Still haven't found him? It's been six days already."
"That kid's as slippery as an eel. Not easy to catch. Even when Senior Sun led a group of Qi Refining disciples to surround him, he managed to escape."
"But I heard that kid is only at the fourth level of Qi Refining. If it came to a one-on-one fight, I could easily crush him."
"Don't underestimate him. I heard that Chu Xuan, though of average talent, is proficient in poison techniques and gu insects. Two Qi Refining stage five cultivators from the Divine Gang Sect have fallen to him."
"…Then I better change my target. This guy is too slippery to find."
"Just admit you're scared."
The skinny cultivator's face turned red, veins bulging on his forehead as he argued, "Nonsense! Only the living can tread the path of cultivation. How can a cultivator be afraid of death?"
Then they started talking about incomprehensible things like the "Great Way of Survival" and "Seeking Fortune and Avoiding Calamity," which made the burly cultivator laugh.
The atmosphere around them was filled with cheer.
Chu Xuan heard this and his expression turned peculiar.
Six days!
It had only been six days since he killed He Liang and escaped the encirclement of the Divine Gang Sect cultivators.
By this calculation, the time flow between the Cangxuan World and the apocalypse planet was roughly ten to one.
So, in the eyes of the cultivators here, he had gone from the fourth level of Qi Refining to the sixth level in just six days?
That's practically a cultivation prodigy!
Even if he soaked in a medicinal bath every day, he couldn't have progressed this quickly!
"The Blood Mirror, what a treasure!"
Chu Xuan drank his tea with a broad smile.

Two days later.@@novelbin@@
Chu Xuan had thoroughly explored Taiping Market.
He had become familiar with the face of every vendor.
Only then did he approach a large shop.
The Herbal Pavilion.
This place specialized in spiritual plants.
After comparing prices at several places, Chu Xuan found this one to be the most cost-effective.
Before long, he walked out of the Herbal Pavilion, satisfied.
He had bought a variety of spiritual plant seeds.
As for materials for corpse refinement, he had mixed in a few purchases as well.
Seeing him buy so much, the shopkeeper even threw in some extras.
Who knows if the shopkeeper would have taken everything back in fright if they knew he was a demonic cultivator.
After buying everything he needed, Chu Xuan casually approached a simple stall.
Setting up a stall in the market was straightforward.
Lay a cloth on the ground and toss your goods on it.
The more meticulous ones would use a wooden sign to carve the prices and place it next to the items.
The items at this stall weren't exactly common, but they were at least widespread.
None of the items caught Chu Xuan's eye.
He only noticed a withered white spiritual herb among them.
Withered Bone Grass.
This spiritual plant had very strict requirements for its growing environment.
It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "pawread dot com".
It only grew abundantly in the Burial Cave of the Wuji Sect.
Once transplanted elsewhere, it would immediately wither.
When the Wuji Sect was destroyed, the disciples scattered, and Chu Xuan had agreed on tokens and codes with a few close disciples for future communication.
This Withered Bone Grass was one of the tokens.
Chu Xuan squatted down in front of the vendor.
He picked up one item after another.
The vendor, an old-looking cultivator, impatiently said, "Buy it if you want, otherwise move along and stop touching everything."
Chu Xuan picked up a fruit and smiled, "Buddy, how much for this Pool Dragon Fruit?"
The vendor replied casually, "Two small spirit stones each."
Chu Xuan smiled slightly, "Is the peel made of gold, or is the flesh made of gold?"
The vendor was taken aback and shook his head, "There's no Pool Dragon Fruit anymore. I picked these from the ruins after the Wuji Sect was gone. You think it's expensive? So do I."
Chu Xuan's smile widened, "Do you guarantee these fruits are ripe?"
The vendor's eyes brightened, "These are of average quality. If you offer a high price, I have more."
Chu Xuan nodded, "Alright, lead the way."
The vendor quickly gathered up the cloth and tossed it into his storage bag, then led Chu Xuan away.
Although Chu Xuan followed behind, he kept his eyes and ears open, constantly aware of his surroundings.
The two of them quickly left Taiping Market and arrived at a secluded spot under the trees.
The old-looking cultivator lowered his voice, "Which senior brother are you?"
Chu Xuan calmly replied, "He Liang."
The old-looking cultivator was stunned, "He Liang? That traitor He Liang is long dead."
Only then did Chu Xuan feel assured, nodding, "Chu Xuan."
The old-looking cultivator was excited, "Brother Chu! Is it really Brother Chu?"
Chu Xuan nodded slightly, "And you are?"
The old-looking cultivator took a deep breath and quickly said, "Chen Ge, I'm Chen Ge, who joined the Wuji Sect the same year as you! This token and code were taught to me by Brother Wei Hua."
Chu Xuan nodded.
Wei Hua, ranked twelfth in the inner sect, had a good personal relationship with him.
"How is Wei Hua doing?" Chu Xuan asked casually.
Chen Ge whispered, "Brother Wei is still recovering from his injuries. Uncle Liu and the others are all at the Wu family."
Chu Xuan chuckled silently.
Among the Foundation Establishment stage cultivators of the Wuji Sect, only one had the surname Liu, and that was Liu Zhenxiong.
Uncle Liu referred to Liu Zhenxiong.
He hadn't expected these Wuji Sect cultivators to be hiding directly at the Wu family.
No wonder the Divine Gang Sect couldn't find them no matter how hard they searched.
They would never have guessed that right under their noses was the perfect hiding place for demonic cultivators!
Chen Ge earnestly said, "Brother Chu, you should join us. We Wuji Sect cultivators need to stick together to survive."
Chu Xuan shook his head, "Too many people, too big a target. I'm only here to buy some things."
Chen Ge looked disappointed but nodded, "What do you want to buy, Brother Chu?"
"The Blood Transformation Formation."
Chen Ge was surprised, "The Blood Transformation Formation? What do you need it for? The Five Righteous Sects are currently cracking down on slaughters targeting mortals. I'm afraid as soon as you activate the Blood Transformation Formation, righteous cultivators will come knocking."
Chu Xuan just smiled, "Do you have it?"
Chen Ge nodded, "I remember Brother Wei has one. You can buy it for a medium spirit stone. How about this, Brother Chu, you wait outside the Wu family, and I'll fetch it for you."
Chu Xuan nodded slightly.

The two of them quickly reached the Wu family.
The Wu family was established in a spiritual energy-rich valley, with buildings every five steps and pavilions every ten, like a small kingdom.
Chu Xuan didn't approach the Wu family but stopped at a distance, taking out a low-grade storage bag and tossing it over.
"Inside is a medium spirit stone for the Blood Transformation Formation. There are also thirty blood pearls, exchange them for spirit stones at the usual rate."
Chen Ge was pleasantly surprised, "Great, we're in need of blood pearls right now!"
He quickly accepted it, "Please wait here, Brother Chu, I'll be right back."
With that, he hurried into the Wu family.
