Chapter 901 The Last Mission: Explosion

Chapter 901  The Last Mission: Explosion

Day Ninety Five…

"Nate? What are you waiting for, Bro? Don't just stand there. Go after her!" Stephen urged his best friend to chase after Jane. He knew that Nathan needed some answers from Jane. Instead of standing there with so many questions running in his mind, it was best for Nathan to confront Jane.

"I believe she has her own reason for doing this," Stephen added, consoling Nathan.

Nathan clenched his fists. Putting the ring in his pocket, he immediately ran, following Jane.

As Nathan and Jane left the venue, everyone fell silent, still wondering what had gone wrong. "What's wrong with Sis Jane? Is she feeling unwell? Why did she run away?" Mystique asked Iron Lady.

"I don't know. She doesn't look happy as well. Is she upset? Did she argue with Nathan?" Iron Lady shared her thoughts.

"Stop gossiping." Mrs. Frost reprimanded the ladies. "Let the couple resolve their own issues. There's no need to pry."

The two ladies apologized to Mrs. Frost right away. "What happened here? Why did Nathan leave? I was waiting for his cue!" Aiden asked everyone exasperatedly.

Stephen just shook his head, tapping Aiden's back. "Let's collect the fireworks. We can save them for the next proposal."

"Huh? But why–" Stephen already dragged Aiden, making their way toward the fireworks they set up near the beach. But before they disappeared, Stephen spoke to the ladies.

"Ladies, you can continue the party. We've ordered enough food and drinks for everyone."

The members of the Phantom Assassin Guild cheered when they heard Stephen's words. Not to waste their efforts, the ladies decided to continue the party and enjoy the night. They all believed that Jane and Nathan would be able to sort out their misunderstanding soon.

Meanwhile, Ethan decided to go back to Jane's room and read her diary. "Aunt Hanabi, I can't join you for tonight's party. I will take a rest in my Mommy's room. Is it okay?"

Hanabi nodded. "Okay, Ethan. I'll accompany you for a bit. I am not also in the mood to join the party."

Ethan and Hanabi left the venue and headed to Jane's room. On the other hand, Mr. Hiroshi and Kazuki found it a little bit awkward to join the ladies. For them, they were old for that party so they also decided to go back to their respective rooms.

As for Jane, she continued running away without a clear destination in mind. She didn't know how she would face Nathan after this. She didn't know how she would explain and justify her actions.

'I saw his face. I hurt his feelings. But I can't face him. I want to avoid it…' Jane felt so conflicted.

Before Jane could realize it, she had already exited the resort. She was so distracted that she failed to notice the approaching car.

"Beep! Beep!"

The loud honking of the car snapped her out of her deep thoughts. However, she froze in her spot as the car's headlights blinded her for a second. She raised her hand to cover her eyes.

'Damn! Am I getting hit by a car?' Jane thought to herself.

However, before she could feel the impact of the collision, a strong arm pulled her from behind. She was dragged away and her body bumped into something hard.

Jane looked up only to meet Nathan's heated gaze, his arms wrapping her body in a tight embrace.

"Nate," she mumbled. The tears she tried to hold back finally fell from the corners of her eyes, streaming like raindrops. She couldn't stop it.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to–" Her next words were swallowed by Nathan's lips. His mouth captured her lips, kissing her passionately.

Surprisingly, Jane didn't resist him. She kissed him back, matching the intensity of his lips.

Nathan knitted his eyebrows into a deep frown. 'I can't understand this… I could feel her love… but why? Why did she run away as if she was afraid of me earlier? I didn't even get the chance to confess. But now, here she is… responding to my kiss.'

After that long passionate kiss, Nathan finally released her lips. Jane gazed down, avoiding his eyes. 'She is hiding something from me.' Nathan thought to himself.

"Don't cross the street if you are distracted. You almost got hit by the car," Nathan reprimanded her, instead of confronting her.

Jane instinctively looked up. She opened her mouth only to close it again. She was at a loss for words.

Nathan cupped her face, concealing the pain in his heart. Yes, indeed. Jane's strange behavior had hurt him earlier. But he could endure it as long as she would stay by his side. "Don't run away from me like that, Jane," he mumbled, his tone laced with desperation and helplessness.

Jane bit her lower lip, looking away. "I'm sorry. I have a reason for doing that. But I can't tell you."

"Are you scared of me, Jane?" he asked her again, his thumb gently caressing her cheeks.

Jane shook her head frantically. "No. I'm not scared of you. I love you."

Nathan took a deep sigh. He noticed that ever since she woke up from her long sleep, Jane started to act strangely. "Tell me what is wrong with me, Jane. Why do I feel like you are avoiding me? I thought you wanted to know my real feelings?" Nathan wanted to understand her. He needed to know her reason for acting this way.

"Please talk to me, Jane. Don't run away. Confront me. And tell me honestly." Nathan's grip on her body tightened.

"Nate… please. Just give me five more days. I will only ask you for five more days. Let's not talk about this for now. Please…" Jane responded in her pleading voice.

"Are you really not going to tell me anything and explain?" Nathan tried once more.

But Jane just shook her head. "Please… Trust me. I'll sort this out in five days."

Nathan heaved a sigh of defeat. Though he was dying to know her reason, he couldn't refuse her pleading request. Nathan was about to respond to her when suddenly a loud explosion was heard coming from the resort. BOOM!

Nathan and Jane hastily turned in the direction of the sound. BOOM! BOOM!

A series of explosions happened, shocking them both to the core.

'What's going on here?'

'Are we getting attacked?'
