Chapter 19: You Are My Husband
The moment Jiang Xi closed the door, Yu Li—who should have been fast asleep from the alcohol—suddenly opened her eyes.
Her gaze was clear, with not a trace of intoxication.
Once her vision adjusted to the darkness, she was about to sit up when a bone-chilling gust of wind swept over her. A suffocating pressure pinned her down, and the cold air slithered beneath her collar, seeping into her clothes.
She flexed her wrists, attempting to push herself up, but the unseen force only tightened its grip. The sudden tension caused one of the buttons on her shirt to pop open.
Yu Li: “……”
So he’s throwing a jealous tantrum now?
In the unseen depths of darkness, a man sat on the edge of the bed. His long black hair cascaded forward as he lowered his head, shadowing his eyes with thick lashes that concealed the storm raging beneath.
A soft sensation brushed against her cheek.
Someone was kissing her.
Yu Li froze for a moment but didn’t resist.Delicate, lingering kisses trailed down until they reached the corner of her lips. The icy touch sent shivers through her, and she felt the ghost hovering above her take a deep breath—savoring the lingering scent of alcohol on her lips.
Yu Li could only stare blankly at the ceiling, letting the ghost do as he pleased.
It almost felt like a giant dog sniffing her.
What the hell was he smelling? Could ghosts even have a sense of smell?
As if sensing her distraction—or perhaps displeased by her lack of reaction—the man’s gaze darkened.
Without warning, he sank his teeth into her neck.
His sharp fangs pressed against her skin.
“Hiss—”
Yu Li inhaled sharply, her brows furrowing.
Bo Jingmo, are you a vampire now?
All this over holding hands? His jealousy was worse than before!
Noticing he had bitten too hard, the man tensed. He instinctively pulled away, a thick mist swirling gently over the wounded area, swiftly easing the pain.
Yu Li tilted her head, narrowing her eyes.
In the faint moonlight, she finally got a clear look at Bo Jingmo.
One human, one ghost—locked in a gaze.
When Yu Li noticed the pitch-black color of his pupils, different from a normal human’s, her expression stilled slightly, brows arching in amusement.
She curled her lips, her red lips parting slightly as she drawled, her voice sultry against the quiet night,
“Oh? Are you planning to kill me?”
Her hair tie had come loose at some point.
Golden strands of hair cascaded messily over the bed, framing her face in a dazzling glow. Her delicate features were stained with a seductive blush, and her sapphire-blue eyes shimmered with misty warmth—painting an intoxicatingly beautiful scene under the moonlight.
Bo Jingmo’s gaze remained silent and heavy.
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he leaned in, his eerie black eyes locked onto the woman smiling beneath him.
The dark room was shrouded in silence, save for the silver moonlight spilling through the window.
After a long pause, the man finally spoke softly,
“You’re not drunk.”
His voice was deep, carrying the same tone as his past life despite his slightly changed appearance.
The familiar voice made Yu Li’s eyes curve in delight.
She exhaled lightly, the teasing warmth of her breath mingling with the scent of alcohol as it caressed the man’s face.
Bo Jingmo faltered for a brief moment.
Then, he heard the woman’s playful whisper,
“If I didn’t pretend to be drunk, how else would I see you?”
Yu Li tested her wrists, finding the restraint gone. She raised a hand, her fingers brushing through the long strands of dark hair that draped over the ghost beside her.
Her eyes glinted with mischief as she smirked.
“After all, rather than waiting for death, I’d rather face it head-on.”
If enemies met again, the only logical outcome was revenge.
Yet, upon hearing those words, Bo Jingmo stiffened.
A crease formed between his brows, and an inexplicable sense of unease crept up his chest. Before he could think, he blurted out,
“I don’t want to kill you.”
【Sister, the system detected a plot shift. The camera is now focused on you. Please remember to stay in character.】
The system’s sudden voice rang in her mind.
Of course, Yu Li already knew he didn’t want to kill her.
But according to the script, as the murderer neighbor, she shouldn’t know that.
From her perspective, the ghost she had killed was now standing before her, yet he wasn’t seeking revenge. That was simply absurd.
So, when she heard those words, Yu Li instantly widened her eyes in exaggerated surprise, a glint flashing through her gaze.
She wrapped her arms around the ghost’s neck and pulled him down slightly, her voice laced with gentle amusement.
“Hm? Then, my dear, why are you here?”
“If you’re not going to kill me… could it be…”
She reached out, her pale fingertips grazing his cold cheek.
Her gaze grew increasingly ambiguous.
“…that you’ve fallen for me?”
The audience erupted instantly.
【What, WHAT, WHAT?! What’s happening?! Holy sh*t, big scene incoming!!】
【Damn, Bo Jingmo, you lucky bastard! The beauty just threw herself into your arms!】
【What exactly is the relationship between Filia and Ye Jingyu?! Look at how naturally she’s acting—there’s no way she’s improvising on the spot! Did they have some unresolved emotional entanglement before she killed him?!】
【No wonder Bo Jingmo fell for the neighbor at first sight—turns out, they already had feelings for each other!】
【Really? But Da Dong doesn’t seem to think so. He looks like he wants to tear Filia to pieces.】
Yet, after Yu Li’s question, the ghost hovering above her remained deathly silent.
Both as the player Bo Jingmo and as the character Young Master Ye Jingyu, he had zero experience with romance.
He had never encountered a situation like this before.
But still—silence meant consent.
The unexpected outcome made Yu Li chuckle softly.
“My, my… this is…”
How interesting.
She had finally realized something.
The person she had personally killed…
Had fallen in love with her after death.
A flicker of amusement crossed her eyes.
Sitting up, she raised her hand and casually smoothed down the ghost’s hair, her tone relaxed.
“Ye Jingyu, have you forgotten how you died?”
Bo Jingmo was too drawn to the intoxicating scent of her soul.
He leaned in unconsciously, his lips brushing against her ear as he murmured hoarsely, his voice laced with an undeniable obsession,
“Filia, I don’t remember.”
Because he didn’t remember, he could do whatever he pleased.
Because he had forgotten their past grievances, he could embrace this forbidden love without hesitation.
For Yu Li, the plot wasn’t hard to piece together.
In this script, Filia had killed Ye Jingyu, Da Dong, and the ghost still lying dormant in the lake.
So when these ghosts awakened, their first objective was naturally to kill Filia.
That was why, in all the previous playthroughs, no audience had ever seen Filia’s character.
No one knew Filia’s role in the story.
No one knew her relationship with Ye Jingyu.
Which meant—Yu Li could shape her character however she wanted.
Or even… manipulate the plot.
Of course, this was a risk. If anything seemed off, she’d be accused of breaking character.
But she was doing this for a reason.
—To help a certain someone who sucked at acting.
Yu Li narrowed her eyes with a smirk.
Once a certain ghost regained his memories, she’d settle the score with him.
But for now, she had a role to play.
So, upon hearing Bo Jingmo’s response, she leaned in and kissed him.
His lips were cold, the sensation as light and unreal as pressing against cotton.
But she smiled sweetly, her blue eyes shimmering with warmth as she whispered,
“It’s okay. I’ll tell you the truth.”
“I am your wife, and you… are my husband.”
“You died of illness. I was devastated. Every day, I was haunted by memories of you, but I couldn’t bear to leave this place. So I bought the villa next door… just to stay close to you.”
The air around them froze.
The barrage of chat comments froze for a moment before completely crashing.
【……? Wait, bro?】
【Holy sh*t, is this woman insane? She actually just made that up on the spot?!】
【Filia basically said: “For survival, I’ll say anything.”】
【She’s totally taking advantage of Bo Jingmo’s amnesia on purpose. Damn, that’s evil.】
【Does she not realize that Da Dong already told Bo Jingmo the truth?】
【Now it’s just a matter of who Bo Jingmo believes. Logically, Da Dong should be the most trustworthy—he’s loyal and obviously wouldn’t lie to Bo Jingmo.】
【Yeah, if it were me, I’d trust Da Dong too.】
【Agreed. Filia’s lie is way too easy to see through. Zero credibility.】
Everyone in the chat was convinced that Bo Jingmo wouldn’t believe her.
But in the very next second—
The cold, emotionless man, who had just been kissed, visibly lit up.
With a swift motion, he wrapped an arm around the woman’s waist, lowered his head, and kissed the side of her neck.
His nose brushed against the golden strands of her hair, and his dark eyes gleamed with excitement. He squinted slightly, his tone eager as he called out—
"Wife."
The chat fell into a deeper silence.
【……】
【……】
【……】
【Bro, do you realize what you just did? You handed your life over to your enemy.】
【Bo Jingmo, look at yourself! Look at how shameless you are!】
【Screenshot taken. I’m posting this in the comment section later. Feel free to grab it. Nobody let this simp Bo Jingmo live this down.】
【So… is Filia good or bad?! I can’t tell! She was helping Jiang Xi and the others before, but now she seems like she’s siding with Bo Jingmo?!】
The audience was being driven mad by Yu Li’s unpredictable actions, desperate to fast-forward to the final episode.
Not a single person realized that right now, it was an NPC playing with the players.
Yu Li patted Bo Jingmo’s head, recalling what Jodie had said earlier about finding something strange. She signaled for him to let go.
“I need to find something related to you. Do you know what it is?” She smiled. “Jodie probably picked it up. It’s something very important to you, so don’t break it.”
She cupped his face, her blue eyes crinkling as she grinned. “I hid it well, but they found it. So now, let me take care of it for you.”
Bo Jingmo blinked.
In an instant, black mist swirled, carrying over a small bottle and placing it in Yu Li’s hands.
A white porcelain bottle.
The exact one Jodie had found.
Yu Li took it, lifting it under the moonlight. The pale glow reflected off the bottle’s surface, making her squint slightly at the brightness.
Her lips curved subtly.
Tilting her head just enough to glance at the man behind her, she softened her voice and murmured,
“My dear, all we have to do is get rid of those people. Then, it’ll just be us.”
She chuckled, lowering her head to press a kiss against the corner of his lips.
“So, from now on, just follow my lead and act along with me.”
What do you think?
