Chapter 359 Mykel's personality.
Elestria watched the news about the situation in the Verdentia Republic and she was smiling the whole time. She knew she could make a move now and she could easily make herself the savior, but she held back because she wanted to make them suffer a little bit more.
"Are you planning to be with someone like him?" Elestria asked.
"What's wrong with him? He's doing this because it's for you, not because he wants to do it," Elysande answered as she enjoyed her tea. "He's different from what you think. He's gentle and kind to those that are close to him, and I have no problem with him having to dirty his hands," she explained.
Ever since the talk they both had after Elestria witnessed something inappropriate, those two had been distancing themselves. The reason was because Elestria still didn't want to see Elysande with Mykel knowing his nature and unknown past. She believed there was something that Mykel hid from them, something dangerous that they might regret if they were attached to him.
"He's manipulative, Ely. Don't you understand what that means? He might be using you for his own agenda," Elestria pointed out and looked at Elysande with a concerned look on her face.
"What's wrong with him being manipulative? You're also manipulative and used everyone including Mykel for your own agenda. What's wrong if he used me or manipulated me? Isn't that what love is? To let the one you love fall in love with you?" Elysande asked and she started to feel uncomfortable with the topic since it wasn't the first time Elestria tried to push her away from Mykel. "What matters is how you are going to use your knife. You can use it to kill or to cook, and you always use your knife to kill unlike Mykel," she stood up and didn't want to argue with Elestria anymore.
"You're going to regret this, Ely," Elestria looked at Elysande who was about to leave her chamber.
"Is that a threat or a warning? This is my love life, and I wouldn't go this far if I didn't know what I was doing. I'm not stupid, Ester, I'm a former Queen of this kingdom and I could achieve more without shedding a drop of blood," Elysande coldly stared at Elestria and then left.
Melissa came back to the orphanage with Zachary and Aston with a determined expression. She had been thinking really hard on what Mykel said back then and she knew what she needed to do. She realized something about her that made her worse than others, that was the fact that she wanted to be loved by people through self-sacrifice.
They were escorted by the children to where Mykel was, and they were surprised when they saw Mykel playing with everyone in the backyard. His nature and personality were the total opposite when he was dealing with powerful people and demons. Continue your journey with My Virtual Library Empire
"You came earlier than I thought," Mykel looked at Melissa and his cheerful aura became cold in an instant.
"Yes, and I have realized what I'm lacking," Melissa nodded her head. "I want to be the best of myself and for my people as well. I need your guidance," she pointed out.
"Even it means to manipulate your own people? To betray their trust if someday you got caught?" Mykel asked.
"No, I'm not going to manipulate my people even if it cost me my life. I would never betray their trust and I would kill those who tried to manipulate them," Melissa answered with a serious expression and she would kill Mykel based on her words. "I'm asking your help not to deceive my people but to help me from Her Majesty as you have promised me," she pointed out.
Mykel's cold aura suddenly disappeared the moment he smiled gently at Melissa. It appeared that he was testing her and he seemed happy with the response she gave him.
"I'm glad that still have a ground to stand on. I'll help you and this might be a bit controversial because I'm going to take the glory from her," Mykel said with a smirk.
Aston was dumbfounded when he heard the conversation between Mykel and Melissa. He never thought those two were scheming together against Elestria even though he was so sure Mykel was Elestria's dog. He wondered what they had been hiding from the people, and how deep those two were scheming against Elestria. If so, why did Mykel pretend to be Elestria's dog, that was when his brain hit the ceiling, and realized he was too stupid for this kind of stuff.
"You know now, and I suggest you keep your mouth shut or Mykel will kill you. The reason why you're brought here is to let you know and want you to get involved in this matter," Zachary pointed out and looked at Aston's confused look on his face.
"I don't understand a single thing..." Aston looked at Zachary and he looked lost.
"I'll tell you everything. For now, just follow them," Zachary said as he saw Melissa and Mykel walk back into the orphanage.
They went to the President's Palace under Mykel's request and brought him to the presidential office so they could talk privately. What was more, Melissa's visit to the orphanage was heard by the public, and they wondered why she suddenly visited the orphanage.
As soon as Mykel sat down, he grabbed a piece of paper from his suit pocket and put it on the desk. Melissa looked at the paper, carefully grabbed it, and unfolded the paper to see the content. She was a bit confused at first because it was a map, but she looked at the dots and noticed what it was.
"This is..." Melissa furrowed her eyebrows.
"The location of the cultists that have been spreading false prophecy, disturbing the peace. Who would have thought that these cults and the radicals are basically the same people," Mykel explained. "If you want to attain peace, why don't you get rid of the wild grass, the parasite in your nation?" he raised his eyebrows.
"You want me to get rid of them by... killing them?" Melissa asked.
"I want you to watch instead and let me take care of them for you. After all, you can't even handle a single death," Mykel smiled. "I don't mind if either of them wants to do the job, but after all, they're your people and you don't want them to dirty their hands for you either, don't you?" he leaned his back.
Zachary might be able to do it if Melissa asked him to get rid of those cultists and radicals, but he knew that Melissa didn't want that. In fact, he already knew what Melissa would say to Mykel's question.
"What do you get from doing this? I need to know and I want you to be transparent," Melissa asked and she looked a bit troubled to understand Mykel's intentions. "I know that I don't have the power to force you, but I want to build trust between us. I know that you see me as not worth the price to receive your trust, but I want to believe that you're different from anyone," she explained.
"I know I can trust you, and you have been doing everything with the deepest of your heart. You're not naive, you're just too soft for this harsh world," Mykel pointed out. "If you want to know, there's a time that you will get the answer to your question. It might be sooner than you think," he said.
"Can you at least tell me what kind of answer that you will give me? I really want to trust you, so can you at least answer this question?" Melissa looked desperate to get Mykel's attention and his interest.
"Assurance, a peace of mind, or something that everyone is longing for," Mykel stood up with a gentle smile as he stared at Melissa. "Anyway, it's time for me to cut some grass. You will see the result soon. I will be back before you know it since we still have some unfinished business," he said and then left.
"Go and follow him. Track the nearest place from here because I believe he would deal with the nearest one," Melissa slid the paper as she looked at Zachary.
Zachary and Aston hurriedly left the room and Mykel had gone already. They looked at the map and there was one hideout that was only a few kilometers away from them.
They went there as fast as they could and it took them around ten minutes, and then they entered the building forcefully, but they noticed the front door was open and was unlocked. They could smell the stench of blood, a strong and pungent one as well from inside.
They checked the surrounding area which was a normal house in the middle of the city. They wouldn't be able to see where the hideout was if they didn't follow the pungent smell. When they found the hidden basement, Aston threw up when he looked at the mess.
"Did he do this?" Aston wiped his mouth and still couldn't bear the scenery.
"By the way, he's thinking and how cold he is, I think he did," Zachary answered and was glad he was wearing a mask so he didn't smell that much compared to Aston.
The scene of dozens of people crucified on the wall with knives on each limb and their foreheads. They were all dead and had terrified expressions before their death, it was something they would never have seen in their whole lives if it wasn't for Mykel. They didn't know the idea of crucifixion since in their world they didn't have something like that in the past.
"I'm convinced that this is Mykel's doing," Zachary nodded his head. "Let's leave, and report it to Melissa about this," he added.
Aston didn't hesitate and left the basement ahead of Zachary because it smelled so bad.@@novelbin@@
