Destroying My Own World

Chapter 360 Betray and trust.

Zachary and Aston went from one hideout to another and yet they couldn't find Mykel. The moment they smelled the pungent smell, they didn't need to go and check it after they had witnessed two similar sceneries. They reported it to the authorities and it became huge news around the world about the mysterious deaths of cultists and radicals.

"Let's go the furthest this time. I think we won't be able to catch up on him if we keep doing this," Zachary suggested.

"You're the one who drives, I'm just going to follow," Aston was resting his forehead on his hand, leaning it against the window. "How can someone do something like that? I thought something like this only happen in movies, but fucking hell this is worse than in the movies," he asked and he couldn't erase the images from his head.

"He could subjugate a demon, and I think what he did to these people isn't nothing when he made a demon down to her knees with fear on her face," Zachary answered as he watched the traffic and the fastest route to their destination.

"Really? That happened?" Aston was in disbelief as he stared at Zachary.

Zachary nodded his head and before he could tell the details, his phone rang. He looked at the caller and it was Melissa, so he picked up the phone and wondered why she called him.

Aston was imagining how Mykel subdued a demon until suddenly Zachary dropped the phone and hit the gas. He was startled and confused at the same time when Zachary decided to go full speed so suddenly.

"What's wrong?" Aston asked as he put on his seatbelt.

"The forensic teams reported to Melissa about the bodies they found. They said those bodies were killed last night, all of them were killed last night," Zachary answered. "Right now we should head back because we don't know where Mykel went because we didn't see him leave in the first place," he pointed out.

"Wait, you're telling me that he played with the children earlier with blood in his hands?" Aston was shocked by the revelation.

"That's not the point. Mykel could still be in the President's Palace right now, and worse he's on his way back to meet with Melissa without our protection," Zachary pointed out as he ignored the red lights.

(At the President's Palace, President's office)

Melissa hung up the phone and looked at Mykel smiling at her, sitting across her desk. She was gulping nervously and how he could read in her mind that she would send those two away. Although she was nervous, she knew that Mykel wasn't planning to hurt her for a strong reason.

"You knew that I was planning to send them to check on you. Now that we are alone, what do you want to say that requires me to be alone," Melissa asked and couldn't stop staring at Mykel's eyes because she didn't want to show any fear.

"What else do you think?" Mykel asked back as he crossed his legs. "So I can kill you without a problem," he smiled.

"Even with them around, I believe they won't be able to react when you cut off my head. So please tell me the reason why you're here and lied to me," Melissa tried to stay calm, but her heart was racing uncontrollably.

Mykel stood up and it was enough to almost make Melissa faint from his presence. He then slowly walked around the table and stood right behind Melissa. His stare could be felt by Melissa and it gave her a chill down her spine and her feet started to get cold.

"I did lie, but I never said that I would agree to trust each other earlier, didn't I?" Mykel asked as he put his hands on Melissa's shoulders from behind. "I can tell when you lie or tell the truth, so I don't need trust from you, and I gain nothing from this, don't I?" he added.

Zachary and Aston barged into the office with dozens of agents who protected the palace. They pointed their guns at Mykel the moment they saw him put his hands on her shoulders. Zachary immediately ordered them to stand down because a single mistake would cost Melissa's life.

"Someone becomes admirable when they survive death," Mykel whispered into Melissa's ear. "If you trust me, then you should be fine," he smirked and ripped the flesh and skin on her neck off as blood started gushing out and then he pushed everyone away with an unknown force.

When everyone recovered, Mykel had disappeared, leaving Melissa on the ground with a pool of blood around her. She was moving her hands, asking for help, and so Zachary carried her and brought her to the room where a president doctor was.

The news had spread about the failed assassination attempt on Melissa. The news was enough to put their attention to Melissa's health and well-being, and they prayed to Gods to keep her alive.

"You have done a great job once again," Elestria said after she finished dressing. "But I never told you to kill them since they're still useful for later to keep her in check. Also, I never asked you to harm her," she glanced at Mykel and suspected that it was his doing.

"It's needed to create a havoc in the President's Palace. It gave us a perfect result, and those people can be replaced easily," Mykel answered.

Elestria couldn't argue with Mykel because it did make a perfect result, something that couldn't be recreated. She let it go because it was time for her to make a move to help a friend in need, a friend in a comatose condition, and was hanging to the last string to keep her alive.

Elestria announced her plans to visit Verdentia Republic, opening the borders, and aiding the people who had suffered enough. She poured out her emotions in her speech, anger, sadness, and disappointment that people could be swayed so easily by rumors. She shed tears as she gave her speech and she promised to save the friend who was in a dire situation, forgiving those people who badmouthed her and her nation.

Elestria's visit was welcomed with warmth from the people of Verdentia, some were ashamed for dissing her and insulting her. She didn't care about it and kept giving her a warm smile, rubbing the salt in the wounds.

When she arrived at the hospital, she immediately went to Melissa's room. She used her newly found power to heal her, and it was magical how she managed to remove the scar. Not only that, but her power was enough to bring Melissa back to where she was in a comatose condition earlier.

The news about Melissa's recovery was the greatest than everything that was happening that day. One by one the news was revealed, connecting one to another until the conclusion appeared that Melissa was the one who eradicated those people. She was assassinated but thankfully she survived, and she managed to fix the relationship between Verdentia Republic and Faelethria Kingdom.@@novelbin@@

The day of suffering had gone, and it was the greatest day ever for them, but not for Melissa. She was in a position where she couldn't negotiate with Elestria since she was indebted to her for saving her life.

It was a long day and Melissa was exhausted from all that, and she was saddened that she couldn't do anything but become Elestria's puppet. But she still had a chance, the fact Elestria praised her for making it believable and could easily take over the nation. It was Thanks to Mykel's suggestion that she did all that to please Elestria rather than care for her people.

"Welcome back," Mykel's voice could be heard from the window in Melissa's bedroom. "It was impossible even for her to distinguish between genuinely caring and convincingly caring for your own people," he said.

Melissa was fumed with rage when she heard Mykel's voice rather than shocked. She turned around and glared at him, standing in front of the window with the moonlight that shined through his black hair.

"You used me!" Melissa trembled in anger as she clenched her fists. Stay tuned with My Virtual Library Empire

"I didn't use you, I was putting the idea of me betraying you," Mykel walked toward Melissa. "Have you forgotten that she can read your aura? Do you understand what would happen to you if she found out that you were scheming behind her back?" he asked.

Melissa was dumbstruck when she heard about it, and she had forgotten about Elestria's power. She was so shocked that she lost her strength and was about to fall to her knees, but Mykel caught him before she fell.

"I'm sorry, but it must be done this way," Mykel stared into Melissa's eyes. "You won't be able to win against her when you have planned it earlier," he carefully carried Melissa to her bed and let her body recover.

"Now we are going to speak truthfully with each other as I have made sure that our alliance isn't detected by her. From now on, I will handle Elestria and you can live normally," Mykel said as he distanced himself from Melissa to respect her space. "This might be the last time we will talk to each other. But I can assure you, that everything will be alright for you and your people," he added.

"What's the point of trust and truth if we can't meet each other again?" Melissa asked as she slowly sat up from the bed.

"Assurance, a peace of mind," Mykel smiled gently. "I told you, the answer is sooner than you think. Our alliance will remain strong, but I'm afraid this will be our last meeting," he added.

"Please, answer this question. What's your purpose? You said that you had enough of conquering the world back then, and you said that you want everyone to have equal footing, but what is it?" Melissa asked.

"You're too simple-minded to know the answer, or should I say you can't handle the unworldly things, Melissa. Goodbye," Mykel smiled as he walked into the darkness and disappeared into thin air.
