Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Private Mission is a Fraud (1)
The third person couldn’t hold on, after taking a few hits, he spat out blood and begged for mercy.
“Don’t hit me, don’t hit me, I’ll talk, I’ll talk.”
“Speak up, what did you plan to do by luring me out?”
“We wanted to use you as a sacrifice. As soon as you Awakened, you became a Big Space User, a high-quality Awakened, a high-quality sacrifice.”
“High-quality sacrifice? I’m flattered that you think so highly of me. Using me as a sacrifice, which Cult Members are you? How many branches do you have? Who gave the order? Does your cult leader know about this?”
“What Cult? We are the greatest Heavenly Taoist.”
...
“Oh, so what’s the creed? Blue Star is being massively invaded by the enemies from Otherworld, is it the doom for all beings on Blue Star?”
“Yes, this is the punishment bestowed by the Heavenly Dao.”
“How fragile and laughable, the Heavenly Dao has to rely on outside forces to wipe out the beings of Blue Star. Just a global natural disaster for a few months would do the job; not understanding even this, truly a useless Heavenly Dao.”
“Bullshit!”
“Whether it’s bullshit or not, aren’t you clear? If your sect were so powerful, would you have been beaten so badly by me? Either your sect is trash, or you’re the trash. Which will it be?”
“I…”
“Don’t try to stall for time with me. Where are the sect branches, sub-branches, or say the temples located? Do you have a stronghold in East Ridge City?”
“No, East Ridge City is so small, who would want to set up a temple here.”
“So where do you come from? Where did you find out about my information?”
“Your information is always listed in the system—a 1000 cubic meter space capacity, limited to official employment, the whole country knows.” As the man spoke, he suddenly let out a sinister laugh, “Just wait, believers from sects all over the country have already set their eyes on you.”
“Great, I’ll be waiting. Let them come; we’ll see whose life is tougher. Of course, you won’t be around to see it. Rest easy; maybe you’ll be born into a better life next time.”
As soon as death was mentioned, the man became frantic, still trying to roar loudly despite being unable to catch his breath.
“You said I could go as long as I confessed.”
“My exact words were: ‘If you beat me, today’s matter will be forgiven and forgotten.’ Lack of oxygen made you confused? Let me end your suffering then.”
Ye Nai swung the iron pipe, striking heavily towards his head. He tried to block it with his hand but couldn’t match Ye Nai’s strength, and was knocked out with a single blow, then taken into the space.
Without the protection of the fungus, he died immediately upon entering the space.
Ye Nai took out the fourth person and, using the same tactics, beat him until he begged for mercy and disclosed the specific address of their Heavenly Taoist branch in Anyuan City next door, as well as the names of the branch leader and various level managers.
Their followers, who targeted Awakened, were from the ministry team within the organizational structure, specifically the sacrifice group, which was in charge of capturing various Awakened for sacrifices. The team also had other groups responsible for different affairs, and in order to preach, the surface work had to be done properly—all this was handled by the different groups within the ministry team.
Ye Nai took out paper and pen to note down this intelligence, then took the person into space and brought out the fifth one.
It was the same routine of fighting first. At the beginning, they were equally matched, but after a few exchanges, it turned into a one-sided thrashing by Ye Nai, who knocked the person to the ground before pressing for a confession, comparing it with the previous ones to see if there was any discrepancy.
After the beating, they knew pain and were muddled from lack of oxygen. They confessed and wailed loudly, regretting taking on the job and focusing only on Ye Nai as a Big Space User, without ever considering that she could fight so well.
Ye Nai thanked them for the compliment, then ended their lives.
Nine people, all dealt with one by one, led to many pages of recorded confessions.
To survive, these people dared to reveal any secret of their factions, from financial fraud, embezzlement of public funds, to deceiving superiors and subordinates. Befriending wealthy men and women to obtain donations and playing with the affection of naive young men and women was not uncommon. Many illegitimate children were born, and if the mother had any sort of status, the child would be honored with the title of Saint Heir or Holy Daughter. The church would fund their upbringing, hiring private tutors and enrolling them in prestigious schools, binding the young mothers and their resources to the Heavenly Taoist.
Ye Nai carefully collected these confessions, planning to pay a visit when she had the chance to go to the neighboring city.
Her combat instructors always praised her athletic talent, but Ye Nai didn’t feel it herself, only knowing she was beaten quite miserably every day.
But today, her thoughts were different. Real combat had greatly accelerated her progress, as her moves went from awkward to fluid, and she became adept at controlling her strength.
With the fire casting its glow, Ye Nai pulled out the two armored off-road vehicles and then took out the seized handguns. After checking the magazines, she emptied the bullets into the vehicles’ bodies.
She then switched to another handgun and likewise emptied the magazine into the other vehicle.
The gunshots, in this empty wilderness, carried far, but Ye Nai was not at all concerned about attracting outsiders.
One of the rules of survival in the Secret Realm is not to watch unrelated commotion, and the second rule is that watching can lead to death.
There is only one situation that might attract curious onlookers.
Official teams on their way back from a mission might take a look if they have the leisure, offering help if they can. But if they’re on a mission, they wouldn’t bother since completing the mission is the priority, an ironclad rule.
Ye Nai didn’t encounter any other caravans on the road that afternoon, so of course she wasn’t worried about leading anyone over.
Next, she used a flashlight and went forward to inspect the vehicles. The main feature of an armored off-road was bulletproofing, so the handgun bullets only left some scratches on the body, not even dents.
What a great car.
Ye Nai stored the vehicles in her Space, pondering who to sell them to once she brought them back—as they were spoils of war from her narrow escape from death.
Afterward, she washed her hands and face, slathered ointment on in front of a camera with a grimace, and crawled into her tent to sleep.
With the protection of Fungus, she slept soundly and sweetly.
On waking, first thing was to look in the mirror. Her excellent recovery ability had “gone on strike.” Not like in the training hall where injuries from the previous day were gone by the next; she still had the hideous injuries from last night.
The nine of them weren’t muscled for nothing; their fighting skills weren’t bad at all. The first few exchanges were evenly matched, and if not for Ye Nai’s tough bones, she would have been the one lying down.
Especially now in daylight, with a clearer view, her eyes were purple and swollen, her cheeks a mixture of blue and purple bruises that no amount of powder could cover, and various contusions all over her upper body made it painful to change clothes, every move bringing a sharp pain.
There were also several gashes inside her mouth. Brushing her teeth was both stinging and painful, having evolved overnight into mouth ulcers. After brushing, she quickly sprayed some medicinal liquid, a reliable old recipe for recovery.
Savoring the slight sweetness of the medicine, Ye Nai licked her teeth, grateful that none were loose.
She drank a cup of soy milk to fill her stomach, and after packing up the camping gear, Ye Nai checked her Space.
What do you think?
