Chapter 358: Prodigal Conqueror
"The Order," Sword God sighed. "These ones are always troublesome to deal with. But fortunately for me, they aren't my problem today. You'll have to figure things out here by yourself, and if you're alive by the end, come to the Astral Globe—that big round structure on the horizon."
'He's just like me,' Cassius smirked, his eyes following where he was pointing.
There, he saw a huge globe-like structure floating above thousands of giant mountains. Though, when stacked against the Astral Globe, they appeared tiny.
Flying around the Astral Globe as if in its orbit were volatile cosmic energies that radiated power, which could be felt even from where Cassius stood.
"See you then…" Stopping halfway, his smile widened after seeing that the Sword God had already disappeared.
Entering the scene without any idea that the Sword God had been there, the Order's Legioneers blasted out with their oppressive auras.
Cassius felt the pressure, but one certainly couldn't tell that from how he appeared.
"Master, should Yimin kill them!?" Yimin's tail stood up, her stance aggressive. "Yimin will slaughter them—"
*Bonk!*
"Stop trying to get yourself killed," Cassius reprimanded. "Fight them, and you'll perish. Then you won't be having any more snacks."
"!!!"
"No snacks!?" Yimin freaked out. "This can't be, Mashter…!!"
Maxy, meanwhile, quietly observed the interaction between Cassius and Yimin, which, for some reason, led to a small pout forming.
'I'm a dragon too, you know? Humph!'
However, upon realizing what had just passed through her mind, she slapped her cheeks. Averting her gaze, she snorted multiple times, not even wanting to look at the audacious man who had enslaved her.
She hated him!
Hate, hate, hate!
A tiny bit of amusement formed inside Cassius at the cute reactions of Maxy. But with the threat of the Order's Legioneers pressing him from in front, he diverted his focus.
An icy blue glow emerged within his gaze as he apathetically looked between the couple dozen powerhouses—each one capable of erasing the Isolated Solar System with a single breath.
"Do you know what you've just done, Intruder!?" shouted the Head Legioneer. "Illegally breaking through Dimensional Floor Barriers is a capital offense—one that demands death!"
Yimin and Raijin growled, whereas Nyxvoldar surged with murderous intent.
Maxy also fluctuated with a little killing intent.
"Death, huh?" Cassius frowned. "And what would you possibly know about death?"
OOOM!
A staggering level of killing intent flooded out of him, engulfing the area around him for countless billions of miles. What looked to be deeply malicious demonic eyes materialized above Cassius, with premonitions of a dragon destroying the world filling the vision of the Order's Legioneers.
"This…"
The Head Order Legioneer had never felt anything like this before.
As a high-ranking member of the organization that kept order in the Humanity Ascension Tower, he had even had the honor of meeting a Human Ancestor. Yet, even then, that Ancestor's killing intent couldn't in any way compare to the one before him.
From afar, lounging atop the Astral Globe, the Sword God's expression contorted. 'This kid not only has evidence of having practiced the Manual I created, he's also progressed it and… something else to extremely high levels.'
The longer the Sword God thought about the mysterious human boy, the more intrigued he became.
Back with said human boy, the Order's Legioneers exploded in rage after snapping out of their awed reveries. One of the more reckless among them even charged forward, Transcendent blade in hand.
"Die, Intrude—"
SHING!
One swift motion.
SPURT!
An arm went sailing, with blood fountaining out of an open wound.
The reckless Legioneer's eyes grew round in horror. Biting his lips, he resisted the urge to holler out in agony. The pain was indescribable, not merely because of the loss of a limb but because of the residual aspects of the Azura Flame.
Universal Flames were no joke, and after assimilating with the Core of the Origin Progenitor, the Azura Flame had reached even greater heights—ones that put it well beyond its rank as one of the weakest Universal Flames in the Universe.
"You dare!??" The Head Order Legioneer snapped toward Cassius, fire spitting out of his eyes. "Are you trying to defy the Order!??"
Cassius blinked, blood still dripping off Lilith. "I believe it's a little late for that. How do you think I made it here?"
"!!!" "!!!"
"Leader," whispered one of the Legioneers. "I know who this human is… No images have been captured of him, but that flame makes it unmistakable."
"Out with it, then!" the Head Legioneer snarled, his ferocious gaze still burning holes into Cassius.
"Sir…" The subordinate Legioneer dramatically paused. "He's the Prodigal Conqueror."
"The Prodigal Conqueror!?" The Head Legioneer's brows ascended to his hairline. "Are you telling me this impetuous man is the one who has been successively conquering Floors of multiple Ascension Towers over the last century!?"
Time moved at different rates for all of the Floors of each Ascension Tower. And though Cassius had only been gone for a few weeks based on Earth and Yggdrasil's timeline, in reality, he had been on the move for dozens of years.
Somewhere along the way, though, time for him started to feel weird. It passed extremely quickly, with months feeling more like minutes.
This inexplicable phenomenon led to him not even knowing how much time had actually passed for him…
"Hm?" Question marks formed above Cassius. "A century? What are you talking about?? Wait… Oh sh*t…"
The time dilation!
Realization hit him like a freight train, forcing him to experience a minor existential crisis!
"Prodigal Conqueror," said the Head Legioneer. "What are your purposes here? If you've come to conquer the Main Foothold of Humanity, then even if we have to risk our lives, we'll strike you down—no matter your identity."
Cassius stared at the Head Legioneer, his mind still spinning. "I only want one thing. And though I've been lenient to your organization in the past, avoiding death as much as possible, I'll get through you here today if you forbid me from acquiring what I desire."
"And what is it you desire…?"
What do you think?
