Chapter 393: Hundred-Year Quest!

Sigma Male: “You’ve met Natsu?”

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “Yes. Gildarts brought him to my guild and asked me to help sell the Magic Web Rings for you.”

So it was you who helped. No wonder 1.1 million rings were sold in just half a month.

Nate thought to himself, It’s definitely easier with a local contact.

Sigma Male: “Thanks for your help. What did you want to discuss?”

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “I heard from Gildarts and Natsu about your sealing of the Black Dragon, Acnologia. Because of this, I’d like to talk to you about the Hundred-Year Quest!”

The Hundred-Year Quest wasn’t always a “hundred-year” task.

It started as a normal S-rank mission, then was upgraded to SS-rank.

After ten years with no completion, it was classified as a Ten-Year Quest.

When a hundred years passed without success, it finally became the Hundred-Year Quest.

Nate could already guess what the request would be.

Sigma Male: “It’s said that the Five Dragon Gods are as powerful as Acnologia. Are you asking me to take on the Five Dragon Gods because you heard I sealed the Black Dragon?”

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “Exactly! As compensation, you can choose anything in this world—anything at all, as long as it’s a single item.”

A universal wish-granting opportunity?

Nate chuckled to himself. The truth was, he didn’t even know what he wanted. The so-called reward didn’t interest him, but he was curious about the Hundred-Year Quest itself.

He vaguely remembered the Five Dragon Gods:

The Water Dragon God

The Fire Dragon God

The Wood Dragon God

The Moon Dragon God

The Gold Dragon God

There was also a sixth dragon, the Earth Dragon God, who had once fought Elefseria, faked its own death, transformed into the Great Labyrinth of Dogra, and sealed Elefseria’s heart.

After some thought, Nate replied:

Sigma Male: “About sealing the Black Dragon… In truth, I didn’t seal it—I sent it somewhere else. Have you tried the game Dragon Hunter? The Black Dragon is there. By the way, in that world, there are two Black Dragons.”

This revelation was so shocking that Elefseria didn’t respond for a full minute.

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “Are you saying you sealed the Black Dragon in the game? I’ve tried Dragon Hunter—if you told me it’s a parallel world, I wouldn’t even be surprised.”

Congratulations, you guessed it, Nate thought, smirking, before asking another question.

Sigma Male: “Are Natsu and the others still with you? Knowing Natsu, he’d be eager to take on the Hundred-Year Quest.”

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “I tested his strength and decided I didn’t want him dying. I refused him. Now, he and Gildarts are likely training somewhere. I hope you’ll accept the quest instead!”

Sigma Male: “Alright. I’ve got some free time lately. Where are the Five Dragon Gods located?”

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “I only know the location of one: the Water Dragon God. Here’s a map of the Northern Continent.”

Elefseria sent a map.

Nate opened it to find three marked red points. The first red point, in the southeast, was labeled Magia Dragon Guild. The second, in the southwest corner, was marked Port City Ermina. Between the two points stretched a vast region labeled Southern Continent: Valeria Region.

Recognizing the map, Nate replied:

Sigma Male: “The Water Dragon God is in Ermina Town?”

Hundred-Year Quest Contact Me: “Yes! For more detailed information, you’ll need to come to Magia Dragon and meet with me in person. You’ll also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement for the quest.”

Sigma Male: “Understood. I’ll visit when I have time.”

Ending the chat with Elefseria, Nate opened Natsu’s profile and sent him a message:

Sigma Male: “Natsu, are you still in the Northern Continent?”

With no immediate response, Nate turned to Happy.

Happy: “Natsu is training with Gildarts. As for where… Happy doesn’t know. It’s a forest with strange jellyfish living on land! 🤤”

Sigma Male: “I’ve accepted the Hundred-Year Quest. Tell Natsu and Gildarts to meet me at Magia Dragon.”

Happy: “Got it!”

At that moment, Levy stirred and woke up. Her face flushed as she remembered what had happened, and she buried herself under the blanket, peeking curiously at Nate’s chat.

“Sensei, what’s the Hundred-Year Quest?”

“It’s about defeating five dragons.”

“Oh?” Levy blinked. “But there are 10,000 dragons in the game.”

“More or less,” Nate chuckled, “but these five are much stronger.”

He cupped Levy’s face, smiling. “Do you want to come along?”

Levy blushed, turning her head shyly. “No way. I’d just drag you down.”

She pouted and added, “Sensei, you’re such a flirt! You already have so many girlfriends!”

“You don’t like it?” Nate teased.

Levy bashfully shook her head, making Nate laugh.

Ignoring her weak protests, he grabbed her hand and pinned her down. Round two began.

The Hundred-Year Quest could wait until tomorrow—comforting his student was more important right now.

The next day…

Nate arrived at the guild. The lively tavern buzzed with discussions about which dragon to hunt next.

“The Coal Dragon takes about a week to respawn after being defeated, huh?”

“I really want the reins! Riding a dragon would be so cool!”

“Keep dreaming. A 0.7% drop rate? That’s like winning the lottery!”

“If Gajeel can get it, you just have to believe in your luck!”

Hearing Freed and Bickslow arguing, Nate walked over and asked, “What happened with the Coal Dragon reins yesterday? Who got them?”

The reins could only be bound to one player, becoming an exclusive skill for that individual. However, the summoned mount wasn’t restricted to a single rider—if there was space, a hundred people could ride it together.

“We decided ownership by rolling dice,” Bickslow sighed. “Whoever rolled three sixes…”

“That was me~” Evergreen smugly adjusted her glasses. “When luck strikes, nothing can stop it!”

What’s there to be proud of? Nate thought. You’ve basically become a chauffeur, don’t you realize?

The reins, while usable in the game world, couldn’t be summoned into reality—yet. That feature was still locked.

After chatting briefly with the Raijinshū trio, Nate spotted the Guild Master at the bar. The small old man was perched on the counter, clutching a mug of ale early in the morning.

“Relaxing much?” Nate teased. “Don’t you have work with the Council?”

“I handed it all over to Ultear,” Makarov laughed heartily. “I might as well give my spot as a Saint Wizard to the younger generation too.”

“You really know how to slack off, don’t you…” Nate shook his head, then added, “I’ve been invited by the Magia Dragon Guild Master. He wants me to take on the Hundred-Year Quest.”

“Hmm?” Makarov looked surprised but then nodded thoughtfully. “If it’s you, you might really be able to pull it off.”

After a pause, he added, “Take a few people with you. Let the younger ones gain some experience too!”
