Chapter 285: 206: The Terror of the Extreme State - Part 1
Chapter 285: Chapter 206: The Terror of the Extreme State – Part 1
The cards spun at high speed, slicing through the air like blades.
Akebin pulled out a metallic hammer the size of an egg from his pocket, somewhat similar to a reflex hammer used to test a patient’s knee reflexes. In Akebin’s hand, it instantly elongated to waist height.
Ding! Dang!
He swung the hammer casually, knocking the incoming cards away.
But the next second.
The cards that had been knocked behind Akebin suddenly transformed into a human figure, a silver staff smashing toward the back of his head.
Whoo!
Akebin was somewhat surprised but reacted swiftly, sweeping back with his hand. The hammer collided with the staff, sparking again and producing a crisp clang.
Crack…!
Chen Lun transformed the Silver Staff into a Silver Sword, continuing his assault on Akebin.
Akebin turned to face him, weapons clashing, sparks flying everywhere.
Amidst the dense shadows of the sword, he appeared quite composed, even freeing up his other hand to pull out another metallic hammer, swinging it around twice before smashing it down on Chen Lun’s head.
Clang!
Blocked by the Silver Sword, Chen Lun was forced to step back from the impact.
“Akebin possesses an elite template, and his physical attributes are strong… Strength and Agility are somewhat higher than mine, and his panel attributes are quite balanced, ranking him among the most senior in Sequence Six.”
His gaze grew solemn.
Crack!@@novelbin@@
Akebin joined the tails of the two hammers together and twisted them into a double-headed long hammer. He spun the weapon like a rotating wheel, creating a fierce wind.
The double-headed hammer suddenly swung horizontally toward Chen Lun’s head.
The heavy force of the blow left a fan-shaped afterimage, causing the air itself to tremble.
Bang!!
The Silver Sword unfurled like an umbrella, blocking the heavy strike.
But the result was that Akebin himself was recoiled back, his hands numbing, he raised his head to see.
The silver umbrella retracted back into a sword, but the dark-haired young man had changed his appearance entirely.
Emerald vertical pupils, pale diamond-shaped armor, and white pythons twisting up from his shoulders…
Whoo!
Without hesitation, Akebin swung a heavy hammer downward from above.
Chen Lun sidestepped, dodging the blow, and thrust the Silver Sword straight at Akebin’s throat!
“Hmph!”
Akebin sharply retreated a step, the sword tip missing his neck by a mere fraction, failing to hit its mark.
At the same time, he swiftly pulled out two vials of green reagent from his pocket and tossed them down.
The glass vials shattered on the ground, releasing a pungent green smoke instantly.
“You are affected by the ‘Disease Catalyst’!”
“Negative Status ‘Transcendent Disease’ worsened!”
Chen Lun looked at the notification, his expression darkening.
He found that his Life Points, which were declining at a rate of 5 points per second, had increased to dropping 20 points per second!
“Hehe… being sick isn’t pleasant, right? Humans are born to experience the pain of disease; it’s a law of nature, and no one can escape it.”
Akebin’s voice came through the green smoke.
Whosh!
The metal hammer suddenly attacked from Chen Lun’s side, thrusting directly at his lower back.
With two snaps, the two White Pythons on Chen Lun’s shoulders shielded themselves, wrapping tightly around the hammer shaft, their brilliant blue suction cups locking it firmly in place.
Akebin let out a surprised noise and struggled to retrieve his weapon, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t pull it back.
Chen Lun counterattacked with a sword slash, prompting Akebin to decisively abandon his weapon and dodge back. But as Chen Lun had entered a regular state, his strength had risen, and his sword still managed to slash through Akebin’s clothes and skin, leaving a bright red wound.
Boom!
Chen Lun didn’t give Akebin any chance to breathe. He broke through the green smoke, getting up close, his Silver Sword slashing through the air with trails of silver light, forcing Akebin into a defensive position.
The terrifying speed of the sword light sliced through the air, emitting a screech.
Dingding dangdang!
As Akebin faced this storm-like onslaught, numerous sword marks began to appear on his body, blood seeping out and staining his clothes red.
His expression was somber as he couldn’t understand how this Sequence Seven member could possess such strength to overpower him by such a margin.
Though he wasn’t adept at direct confrontation, he was still a notch above in transcendency, yet he still found himself losing ground.
“Quite the capability!”
Akebin said coldly.
Once again blocking a strike from the Silver Sword, he reached out with his left hand, his fingers surrounded by distorted fluctuations, with countless flies and insects dancing wildly.
Boom!
Chen Lun was blasted back several meters by this powerful gust, while the negative status of ‘Transcendent Disease’ worsened once again.
Looking up, he noticed that the injuries Akebin sustained were slowly healing in the green medicinal smoke.
“A Disease Catalyst that heals his wounds for others…?”
Chen Lun internally exclaimed at the absurdity.
“I must admit, you are much stronger in close combat than others of the same sequence… but choosing to come close to me was a foolish move.”
Akebin spoke indifferently.
He held up the long-handled double-headed hammer, his wounds nearly healed.
“Haven’t you noticed that you are already deeply afflicted, sinking deeper into illness?”
As the green smoke gradually dissipated, Akebin’s voice came through clearly.
Chen Lun imperceptibly glanced at his panel and saw the speed of his Life Points dropping increasing. If not for ‘Hell Resistance’ minimizing the damage, he might not last thirty seconds before a sudden severe illness could strike him down right there.
He had no choice but to once again use the Sanity Points stored in the Maggie Statue, activating the ‘Wake of Insects’ bookmark to provide himself with Life Force, countering the disease’s effects.
However, aside from two trips to the Immortal Realm by the players, he hadn’t specifically recharged the statue, resulting in his Sanity Points now dropping below a thousand.
“Silver Pot, I’m here to help you!”
Mr. Bottle’s voice carried over.
A dozen black lines shot out, attacking Akebin.
“Curse…?”
Akebin furrowed his brows, seeming quite wary.
He then pulled out two cylindrical glass jars from his body, which contained two puppy embryos soaking in an unknown solution, sparsely covered with hair.
Akebin tossed them casually, and the glass jars shattered on the ground in an instant.
The fist-sized puppy embryos, once exposed to the air, swelled instantly and grew to the size of a carriage in the blink of an eye!
Atop their heads, they bore three pairs of eyes and four giant mouths full of sharp teeth; their bodies were decaying, emitting a foul stench.
Several of the curses got intercepted by one of the sick dogs, penetrating its body. This caused its mouth to enlarge instantly before it stiffened and collapsed, gasping weakly.
“Go!”
Seeing this, Akebin commanded the other sick dog to charge at Chen Lun.
Chen Lun threw out several playing cards that embedded themselves into the sick dog’s head, but it felt no pain; despite the blood flowing, it continued its violent charge.
Bang!!
The four gaping maws of the sick dog clamped firmly onto Chen Lun’s neck, waist, and both hands, the immense force pushing Chen Lun several meters back.
The sharp teeth, along with the saliva, rubbed against Chen Lun’s pale armor, making a grating, crisp sound.
‘It hurts a bit, but it doesn’t breach the defense…’
Chen Lun’s calm gaze met the six bloodthirsty pupils of the sick dog.
He tried to raise his arm, wanting to swing the Silver Sword for a strike, but the sick dog’s biting force was terrifying; even with his 69 points of Strength, he could not break free.
“This is as far as you go, naive fellow,” said Akebin softly.
He took a sliding step to arrive behind Chen Lun and raised a small metal hammer to strike the back of his head.
Whoosh!!
Chen Lun glanced sideways, noticing a broken streetlight not far away.
With a loud crash, the sick dog bit through the streetlight, and the small hammer harshly landed on its head, instantly exploding its mouth and three of its eyes. Accompanied by the sound of bones shattering, the huge beast rolled to the ground, kicking up a cloud of broken stones and dust.
Akebin was slightly stunned and suddenly turned around.
But he saw that the black-haired youth appeared unharmed not far off, pulling out an antique revolver.
He raised two fingers, pinching a playing card which he lightly flipped, revealing a “Diamonds 5.”
The young man raised the revolver, and under Akebin’s puzzled eyes, aimed it at his own temple, pulling the trigger four times!
Bang bang bang bang!
[You receive the effect amplification from “Center of Attention”! Charm +5, lasts 24 hours!]
[You receive the effect amplification from “Unyielding Will”! Willpower +5, lasts 24 hours!]
[You receive the effect amplification from “Keen Observation”! Insight +5, lasts 24 hours!]
[You receive the effect loss from “Sudden Disaster”! Suffering the curse “Innocents,” you will be inexplicably attacked! Lasts 24 hours!]
The newly added curse, under the effect of “Skin of Curse,” had its effect minimized, but it still provided Chen Lun with 4 Points of Attributes.
Chen Lun tilted his head back and drank a gulp of Sun Wine, avoiding negative Luck, and immediately aimed at Akebin and pulled the trigger.
Akebin’s gaze tensed, and he swiftly dodged to the side.
Bang!
The bullet missed him and hit the fallen sick dog.
A deep blue vortex instantly engulfed the enormous body of the sick dog, making it disappear from the spot.
Bullet “Spiritual Exile”!
Chen Lun’s initial target was not Akebin but the troublesome sick dog.
“That invisible disease of yours is indeed formidable, but coming close to you is a foolish act…?”
He grinned.
“I’m not so sure.”
Boom!
Four Pale Wings suddenly unfolded behind Chen Lun, and his whole body surged with rolling blood energy.
“Limit State!”
His figure vanished from the spot in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, Akebin felt a sharp pain assail him.
Bang!!
His entire body tumbled and flew dozens of meters away, dragging along the ground.
Chen Lun’s angelic figure, with a flicker, reappeared behind him, his pitch-black, shining fist roaring out again.
Whoo whiz!!
Akebin coughed out blood, eyes widening as he violently swung his double-headed hammer in retaliation.
Another booming sound as the long handle of the metal hammer was smashed by a punch, continuing on with undiminished force to strike his chest.
“Puh!!”
Akebin spat out blood foam, his body uncontrollably rolling.
But before he could catch a breath, a silver sword light closely followed.
“Damn! Too strong! This isn’t the combat strength a Sequence Seven should have!”
A thought crossed Akebin’s mind.
He endured the excruciating pain all over, especially the needle-sting sensation of his shattered chest bones, scrambled to his feet, and kept dodging.
Whiz whiz whiz…!!
The sword light followed like a shadow, and was extremely tricky; it seemed not just a blind hacking but rather like that of a physical prowess supreme swordmaster, with fluid and smooth moves.
Akebin hadn’t encountered close-range formidable opponents before, but he had always relied on various means to delay until the opponent succumbed under his “boiling frog in warm water” disease attack, finally breaking down explosively.
However, this guy in front of him showed no signs of weakening even after several minutes, truly shocking him!
“How is this possible?!”
What do you think?
