Chapter 291 The start of something great

"How does someone even act like your disciple, master?" Lucas only chuckled at his master not understanding what he was entailing.

"Hmph, cheeky brat. look around the room and tell me, what do you see?"

Lucas did not even need to look around yet he did anyway, his eyes met a lot of people of his age.

They tried keeping eye contact but averted their gaze real quick when Lucas got a little serious.

"I smell- no… I sense fear."

"Yeah, they are all scared and shitting their pants, and look at you! Such bold and arrogant eyes, befitting my disciple! Hahahahaha"

Lucas could not tell if his master praised or made fun of him.

Yet one thing was clear, Master was drunk. Lucas could not tell just how many drinks he had, but it must have been a lot by how he acted.

"While I am infuriated by what you said here Sam, but it seems to be true. That damn disciple of mine, cowering with the other rabbits. Kalo! Come here!" The one with the long beard that had talked with Lucas before he shouted toward the side.

Lucas looked toward a young man his age looking toward his master's table with upright shoulders.

He had blond hair with flawless skin, the clothes he was wearing were a little similar to Lucas's yet they had green embroidery instead of golden ones.

"Yes!" The young man named Kalo said after coming to the table, it was as if the world was ending in his eyes, with how scared he was. Only Lucas had the perception of how scared he was.

The old man who was also a master crafts person got up and came toward his disciple, fury evident in his eyes.

"Don't you go with those bastards anymore, you got it? Come, I will introduce you to someone."

All the anger that Lucas saw and felt from the old man vanished when the old man saw just how nerve-wracked his disciple was.

"He is Lucas, Sam's disciple. Introduce yourself and stay with him till the tournament starts." The old man commented and went to get seated again.

"Hello, Name's Kalo Silverman, son of Duke Alden Silverman and the disciple of Master Alchemist Elias Alveron." The blond-haired young man kept a hand on his chest and royally arched his shoulder.

'Duke huh' Lucas didn't know what rank the Duke was, but it was still a little high in the noble community.

"Nice to meet you, Kalo. My name's Lucas Garde, a commoner and the disciple of Master Sam." Lucas introduced himself and offered for a handshake rather than some royal etiquette, it was not his cup of tea.

"Commoner?" Kalo asked with arched brows, Sam from the side looked at the interaction with calmness.

"Yes." Lucas did not retract his hand and gave the guy about three seconds to shake it.

Lucas sniffed the air and felt the clear emotions coming out of the guy.

They were fear, astonishment, and most importantly, satisfaction.

The next second, Kalo gave a big smile which in Lucas's eyes, was not genuine. He shook Lucas's hand with both his hands showing extra excitement.

"Nice to meet you! I hope to get some good pointers from you in the tournament!" He said with excitement, the fear that he had just a while ago had dwindled now.

Lucas's eye twitched a little, Kalo was looking down on him just because his origin was that of a commoner.

He looked toward his master for a second and a crazy grin formed on his face. Sam had his eyes wide in surprise yet when he realized what he meant by the grin, a grin formed on his face too. Explore stories on My Virtual Library Empire

Kalo frowned while looking at Lucas smile like that yet he didn't let his pity smile dwindle while looking at him.

"Yeah,"

There was a clash of starting between them in which Lucas couldn't find any fighting spirit coming out of himself. The guy was weak physically and he knew from his master that there were a few now on his level in this tournament.

"Let's leave for the tournament now, Lucas. Being early is a good trait to have." Kalo said sarcastically. Lucas did not say anything but he could tell that he was pointing at the time when he had come to this room.

"Master, I am going now," Luca said with seriousness. Every person on that table looked at his face with calmness yet they could feel chills.

"Yeah, remember your promise." Sam was already used to Lucas's sharp gaze.

Both Lucas and Kalo left the room together and went toward the main tournament area.

"Just where did you find this brat, Sam?" The one with the long beard asked Sam with wariness.

"It was fate, Elias… fate."

"Hmph, I would have never taken a commoner under me. You will soon regret it." The old man on the left said and closed his eyes. All of them were drunk and the bickering from there didn't seem to stop anytime soon.

Since Lucas and Kalo left, they didn't talk much. Lucas didn't see the need for it and Kalo seemed to be too proud.

With the directions and the help of the workers, they finally reached the locations.

"How did you get your hands on this clothing?" Kalo asked from the side while he tried to touch Lucas's cloak Yet Lucas just grabbed his hand and shook it with a smile.

"My master got it for me."

"I figured" He looked offended by Lucas's insolence.

Lucas did not know what he could do to the guy, he wasn't feeling much anger for some reason.

It might have been due to the hunting he was going every few days or just that Kalo was like a fly humming at the side of his ear pestering without stopping.

The area they were in was really like a fighting ring, it was spacious and Lucas liked it yet the big circular ring had many alchemical desks with ingredients kept in a preserving cube.

Lucas looked at the ingredients and almost burst out in ridicule, just what level of alchemy were they asking him to perform?

"By the way, Kalo. Do you know how to extract essence from these ingredients?"

"Huh? God no, that is advanced alchemy, this tournament only wants the beginner alchemists to compete with each other," Kalo said and waited for Lucas to speak yet when he didn't, he looked toward him and froze.

Lucas had a playful grin on his face and for some reason, it looked very dangerous.
