"A rare-grade oven... Just look at its durability..." Mike muttered.

"It couldn't have turned out this well with just the clay and our skills. It's all thanks to Lucas's runes," John remarked with an obvious observation, but he was smiling with proudness.

"It's a good item, but at the end of the day, it's still just a clay oven. If this impresses you, I don't know how you'll react in a few days," Lucas chuckled, amused at how easily they were awed.

Hearing him, excitement bubbled in everyone, though there was also a hint of uneasiness. Was their workload about to increase?

"Sarah, throw a fireball at it. Let's see if we need to improve its sturdiness."

"Are you sure?"

"Completely."

Everyone stepped aside as Sarah hesitantly formed a small ball of fire in her palm.

"Bigger."

She increased its size by a few diameters.

"Bigger," Lucas insisted again.

The fireball now grew to the size of a basketball. After receiving a final nod from Lucas, Sarah flicked it toward the oven.

They all watched as the fireball traveled toward the oven, and in an instant, it made contact.

"BOOM!!"

A loud blast echoed, followed by a cloud of smoke. Everyone shielded their eyes and faces while Lucas grinned, eyeing the oven.

"We'll move on to the next step now," he muttered, walking toward the firepit, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

"N-No effect?" Sarah stammered, staring at the oven. The brand-new clay oven stood untouched, where it should have been a heap of charred clay.

"Alright, everyone! Get back to what you were doing! Sean, Uncle John, Sarah, and Mike, stay here," Lucas called out, earning groans from the crowd. Despite their complaints, they all returned to their tasks or leisure.

The four he had summoned gathered around Lucas at the center.

"Uncle John, we've completed the first step of curing by drying the oven with your wind manipulation. Now, we need to light a fire inside. Normally, it would be a small one, but with the runes, it can handle more heat. So, Sarah, when we put the wood in, use as much fire as you can until the oven's at full capacity, alright?"

"Okay," Sarah replied, now more confident in the oven's durability.

"Great. I'm assigning this task to Sarah and Sean. Keep the oven burning for several hours. Add more branches and stones if necessary. I know this isn't your usual job, but we're severely short on labor, so I need everyone working according to their abilities."

"No problem. But what about our territory role missions? They give gold coins," Sean asked.

"Don't worry about that. While gold coins could become a global currency in the future, we'll find other ways to earn them without these time-consuming missions. For now, we need to focus on the basics, alright?"

Sarah nodded and headed to the oven, Sean following, though his eyes were glued to the runes.

"Uncle John, I'm thinking of dehydrating blood for a project, which is why we need this oven. We can start that in a few hours, but we'll also need to reorganize the entire shelter."

"What do you mean by 'reorganize'?" John asked, skeptical. Meanwhile, Mike glanced at the territory inside the defenses and nodded in agreement.

"We're using the land inefficiently. We need to measure the area inside the defenses and around the shelter, then start building small structures."

"We need a proper kitchen, individual huts for everyone, and a decent washroom. I want to make sure we cover the basic necessities, so building beds, tables, pillows, and mattresses would be a good start."

John and Mike exchanged astonished looks. Lucas was listing one essential after another, and each one seemed important.

"You might be right. So where do we begin?"

"I'll use my Perceptive Eyes to measure all the land inside the shelter, excluding the shelter itself. Then, I'll leave it to you and Mike to create a layout. After we discuss the plan with everyone, Mike can start construction."

The plan seemed almost desperate. John and Mike shared a perplexed glance before breaking into smiles.

"Consider it done. This past month without you was boring—no crazy projects. Now you're coming up with even crazier ones," Mike said, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

John smiled as well, and Lucas didn't need another second to read his feelings. With a nod and a grin, he quickly activated his Perceptive Eyes, calmly taking in the world around him.

Everyone recognized that glow in his eyes. It was the skill that had brought back countless high-level herbs and materials from the forest.

But their nostalgia turned to shock as they watched Lucas hold the skill for over a minute without blinking.

John and Mike exchanged glances again, and Mike just shrugged. It seemed no matter how much they tried, they were destined to be amazed.

Lucas deactivated the skill, grabbed a stick from the pile near the oven, and wrote down the measurements for John, the former accountant.

"We need paper too…" Lucas frowned. For now, their only options for writing things down were either rock slabs or the ground.

After John went through the numbers and made a few additional calculations, they came up with a small plan.

An hour later, after much discussion, the plan was approved by everyone, and it was time for Mike to begin his work.

Lucas oversaw two projects and was pleased to see that, in just one hour, the clay oven's abilities had been thoroughly tested and an outline had been drawn on the shelter grounds, marking where new constructions would be built.

Oval, square, and even rectangular outlines were now etched into the ground.

Lucas stood in his workshop, holding a slate that listed the names of everyone inside the shelter.

'Sean and Sarah will be tied up with the oven for a while. John and Mike are working on a major project that will take days… Let's see what skills the others can contribute,' Lucas thought, beginning to scribble on the rock.

It seemed the time had come for everyone in the territory to be assigned a fixed job.
