Chapter 154 Right This Way, Traveler Thurston (3)

'The fuck is he talking about…' Confused at the way things were turning out, Aoni didn't hesitate in answering with affirmation.

"Uh, sure, Principal Gavver." Closing his eyes and imagining himself lying down in bed back in his cave, a faint smile snuck its way onto the Lad's face as he imagined Glacia kicking his side while snoring and the ticklish feeling of Nyria's feathers on his cheek.

"That's good, Traveler Thurston. It's just like that; keep it up. The goal is to draw in your Aura familiar sensations and store them inside your mind." Giving words of encouragement to his student, Principal Gavver nodded several times as he reached down, scooped up Aoni's backpack, and handed it over to the gruff Soldier.

Upon receiving it, the Soldier shot one last look at Aoni before waving off his squad and roughly handling the backpack; meanwhile, having received the command, the remaining soldiers standing around the massive Flume allowed their rifles to hang by their sides freely and went back to a relaxed pose, after all, with the Bloodlust filled Aura slowly receding, and the Academy Principal present, there wasn't much for them to do anyway.

Even so, not one of them could figure out just how much the kid standing before them had been through. Each one of them was a Traveler and had seen their fair share of bloodied battles, but not a single person apart from maybe their squad leader had even a fourth of the Bloodlust in their Aura as Aoni.

"What did this poor kid go through," shaking his head, one of the random soldiers couldn't help but feel a bit worried for his younger sibling who, like Aoni, had entered the Flume less than 2 weeks ago and, as of now, hadn't returned.

In fact, most of the Soldiers present had some family member who was supposed to be returning from their first trip to Genovia today; that was partially why they'd been chosen for this duty station in the first place.

After all, even the many different military branches ran on a system of connections between specific people, so surely some would be able to use these said connections to "Pull some strings" and be the first to welcome their loved ones back to Terra.

Unaware of what anyone around him was thinking, Aoni couldn't help but draw a parallel between what he was feeling and a distant memory, one where his older brother taught him how to…well hock a loogie.

If that were the only part of the memory, it wouldn't have brought much to mind; however, not only did he learn that day at the tender age of 6 how to spit, but he also tortured the neighboring kids.

You see, there's a veryyyy specific way to let a loogie drop from your mouth, then slurp it back up at the last second, and it was that EXACT sensation that reminded Aoni of how it felt to draw in his Aura.

Hell, he hadn't even realized he was carelessly leaking any in the first place, and it would not have made a difference anyway, considering he'd basically been in the dark fumbling around since the beginning.

Sure, he'd done some testing in the past; however, at best, he could extend a nontangible strand of Energia out to process materials in the form of pressure, which…technically could be considered Aura, but to be standing there, radiating it was a whole different situation.

Between the small tidbits of information coming from Principal Gavver and keeping his mind in check, it only took a few seconds before he noticed movement all around him, as the Soldiers and even the Principal seemed satisfied enough to calm down.

"Perfectly done; if I didn't know any better, I'd think you already had a passive for its manipulation." Giving Aoni a few words of Praise and a pat on the shoulder, Principal Gavver was about to guide him away from the mouth of the Flume when a surprised gasp of confusion came from the gruff Soldier.

You see, having believed the backpack to be a normal one, the man had thought dumping it over would spill out its contents; however, after more than 2 minutes, more and more stuff came flowing out, as if the bag were bottomless.

'This mother fucker…' utterly speechless as he watched everything he'd spent a considerable amount of time organizing dumped into the center of the room carelessly, Aoni could feel his hands itching to give the Soldier a beating.

Luckily, that little part of his mind that screams "STEADY" reared its head at that moment, allowing the Lad to reign in his emotions and stand motionlessly without expression.

"Staff Sergeant Lewis, what in the actual hell are you doing!"

One second, the Principal was standing in front of Aoni, and the next, he was across the room, backhanding the shit out of the gruff Soldier in such a way that the idiot flew across the room before landing on some bleachers.

"PLANNING TO STEAL FROM A GOVERNMENT-SUBSIDIZED NEWLY AWAKENED TRAVELER! YOU MUST HAVE A DEATH-WISH SERGEANT!"

BOOOM

BOOOMMM

"Bastard, SEE IF I DON'T END YOU HERE AND NOW GAVVER!"

BANG, POP POP POP

It was chaos; the Principal was kicking the shit out of the gruff guy while the other had drawn his pistol and was taking shots left and right.

'Sigh, I just wanted to lay low…' Tilting his head forward so that his bangs covered his face, Aoni felt the urge to tear up as everything went sideways, and a fight broke out between the Principal and the gruff guy.

Sure, he may have made a simple, unintentional mistake, but that could have easily been cleared up had that idiot not figured out that the storage space held in the pack was multiple times more than it should have been.

Even then, it was the idiot's greed that made him want to try and steal it.

'I mean seriously, how fucking stupid must you be to try and steal something from a newly awakened traveler when there are dozens if not hundreds of people monitoring the Flume, let alone with a Traveler as strong as the Principal standing right there.'
