Chapter 1406: Making Final Preparations
"…And that's the last of it."
Ding!
Receiving a notification from the system regarding his successful skill upgrade, Valyr felt a great influx of information enter his mind as he sat cross-legged on the ground.
Doing his utmost to organize and process all of the additional information he'd gotten out of it, the young man soon opened his eyes with a smile on his face, his expression exuding both relief and excitement.
"With that, I've done pretty much everything I could in preparation for my ascension."
After obtaining the Spell Scribe subclass from Thaelis, which was transformed into the Arcane Spell Scribe subclass by Arcane thereafter, Valyr felt that he had overextended his stay at the peak of Rank 2 for long enough.
Naturally, there were quite a few reasons as to why he decided to push through with the ascension, with one of them being the upcoming Myriad Prodigies Tournament.
Though he fared exceptionally well during the Nine Prodigies of Astella tournament with his current class rank, he obviously knew that his current level of strength wouldn't cut if he were to participate in a tournament at the kingdom-level.
Of course, he could even out the playing field at the tournament with the help of [Soul Fusion] at any time. However, if he were to do so and remain at his current rank, then there was a high chance he wouldn't be able to get far in the tournament?
With that in mind, wouldn't it be better for him to increase his class rank as much as possible while having a trump card like [Soul Fusion] in hand? Provided he focused on solidifying his foundation during each rank, of course.
Aside from that, one other reason as to why he decided to ascend to Rank 3 before the tournament began was due to the prerequisite quests that plagued both his current class and subclass.
Although he would have it far easier compared to other Rank 2 class holders when it came to comprehending Intent Seeds thanks to what Arcane did with the Nascent Rebirth Elixir, it was incredibly obvious that he'd achieve twice the result with half the effort if he were to just ascend.
Other than that, by increasing his class rank to the peak of Rank 3 or higher, he would reduce the level difference between his current identity and his other identity even further, allowing him to stay in his other identity for longer and do more.
'I wonder if it'd be possible to push my player identity to the same level as my other one before the tournament?' asked the young man to himself as the thought came to mind, still reminding himself to prioritize fortifying his foundation before doing so.
Nevertheless, with his mind set to ascend to Rank 3, it went without saying that Valyr spent the last three weeks or so doing everything he could to improve his gains during the ascension.
Unsurprisingly, most of those three weeks were taken up by his practice of the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture, with almost two of them allocated towards pushing the scripture up to the 9th level.
Thankfully, the rewards he gained from achieving the scripture's 9th level more than made up for the time, with the purity and potency of his mana having greatly improved now that it had transformed into Lesser Arcana.
Then again, with his mana now turned into Lesser Arcana, it made him think about the demonstration Arcane showed him the first time they met, comparing the might contained in his current mana with the might he would've gotten if she hadn't tampered with the Nascent Rebirth Elixir.
'Although the system would still consider it as Arcana, I'd say it could only match the strength of my mana at the 7th level at most,' said Valyr to himself inwardly, wryly smiling at the thought.
Sending a few messages to the guild in preparation for his ascension to Rank 3, the young man made sure to tell them he shouldn't be disturbed as he briefly thought back to the remaining things he did.
'After making sure that only the quests related to comprehending Intent Seeds were left, I then went to Astella City's Experience Pit to amass a massive amount of XP.'
Considering that he and the Stelyra clan had an agreement before the Nine Prodigies of Astella tournament, Valyr originally headed to the clan first to see if he could still make use of the agreement they made.
Sadly, although Aster and his clan appreciated the effort he showed during the tournament, the man made it clear to him that he'd have to use the opportunity he'd given him if he wanted to use the clan's facilities to amass XP.
Feeling like the opportunity could be better used elsewhere, the young man showed no hesitation in heading straight to an Experience Pit after that, inwardly deciding to put the Stelyra clan lower on the list if they ever asked him to affiliate with the clan for the upcoming Myriad Prodigies Tournament.
Thankfully, with his ability to fight enemies that were even a couple of class ranks above him, Valyr was able to amass a massive amount of XP from the pit in just a couple of days.
In fact, he had gained far more than he thought he did thanks to the buffs his guild gave, rendering the 30% cut the establishment demanded to feel more like a 20% cut.
"After that, I focused on upgrading all of the skills I could upgrade to the peak of Uncommon grade," murmured Valyr to himself, smiling as he noticed some of his guild members offering to protect him during the ascension.
"Though it's a shame I couldn't make use of the Realm of Myriad Experiences to raise them, I guess I would lose out more than I'd gain from doing so, especially if I consider the time difference between the two."
"Thankfully, my other identity still had a lot of unused Skill Keys."
Grinning at the last thought that came to mind, Valyr soon took in a few deep breaths, gradually calming himself down as he conditioned both his body and mind to the best of his abilities.
"…Alright."
After feeling like both his body and mind were at their peak condition, he then sent a command to the system confirming his ascension, to which the latter promptly responded.
What do you think?
