Chapter 40 - Profiting from Stocks! Su Bai Lectures Song Qian?!

Chapter 40: Profiting from Stocks! Su Bai Lectures Song Qian?!

When the truck arrived, Song Qian waved her hand to signal it over.

Seeing her gesture, the truck promptly pulled up. Today was the day Tong Wenjie was moving into Su Bai’s rented property.

In Song Qian’s opinion, Su Bai had set the rent far too low—practically a loss. If it had been her property, she might have offered a discount too, but certainly not to this extent.

It was obvious to Song Qian that Su Bai had only offered the discounted rate of 11,000 yuan per month because of his close friendship with Tong Wenjie.

But for Song Qian, seeing Su Bai lose money felt worse than losing her own.

Still, since Su Bai had already made his decision and the lease was signed, there was no changing it now.

Because Tong Wenjie was her good friend, Song Qian waited downstairs, knowing they had finished packing and were on their way.

“Ding-dong!”

At that moment, Song Qian’s phone buzzed with a message.

She assumed it was another advertisement from some company, but upon checking, she found it was a notification from her bank.

“6,566,625 yuan?”

Reading the message carefully, Song Qian was utterly stunned.

How has over 6.5 million yuan suddenly landed in my account?

Seeing it was transferred from the stock market, Song Qian began piecing things together.

Earlier that Thursday, Su Bai had withdrawn funds. Everyone knew stock market transactions required a day to process, so the funds technically arrived on Friday. However, given the substantial amount, it was delayed another day, finally landing in her account on Saturday.

Seeing the figure, Song Qian was left speechless.

Without further thought, she immediately called Su Bai, determined to figure out what was going on.

“Hello, Aunt Song, what’s up?” Su Bai answered casually.

“Su Bai, I received over 6.5 million yuan. What’s this about?” Song Qian asked, unable to conceal her shock.

“Oh, that’s just the profit I made from stock trading this week. Keep it for now—I’ll explain everything when I get back. I’m already on my way,” Su Bai replied nonchalantly.

“Alright. Be careful while riding,” Song Qian said before hanging up, adding a word of caution.

“What’s going on?”

Just then, Tong Wenjie arrived with Fang Yifan and Lin Lei’er in tow, noticing Song Qian’s unsettled expression.

“Nothing. I just reminded Su Bai to ride carefully,” Song Qian replied.

“By the way, where are Yingzi and Su Bai?” Tong Wenjie asked.

“I’m guessing they went to the planetarium. Isn’t there a bilingual lecture there today?” Fang Yifan interjected before realizing he might have said too much.

He had seen the lecture notes on Yingzi’s desk, which was how he knew about it.

Aware that Song Qian wouldn’t have approved, Fang Yifan immediately regretted his slip.

Realizing her son had made a mistake, Tong Wenjie patted his shoulder and said, “Stop dawdling. Go help your dad pack.”

Knowing he’d blundered, Fang Yifan quickly complied.

Meanwhile, Song Qian’s expression darkened.

“Song Qian, the kids probably didn’t mean to hide it from you. Besides, attending the bilingual lecture is a great way for Yingzi to practice her oral English. It’s for her studies, after all,” Tong Wenjie tried to comfort her.

As she spoke, her gaze followed Song Qian’s line of sight into the distance.

There, a bright red motorcycle was approaching.

There was no need for speculation—it was Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi returning.

When Su Bai parked the motorcycle, Song Qian wasted no time. “Su Bai, come with me.”

Without waiting for a response, she turned and headed upstairs.

Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi exchanged glances, neither particularly concerned.

To Su Bai, this was likely about the 6.5 million yuan. Of that amount, 4.1 million yuan had been his initial investment, while the remaining 2.4 million yuan was his profit—a modest 50% return for the week.

As Su Bai handed his helmet to Qiao Yingzi and followed Song Qian upstairs, Tong Wenjie approached them and whispered, “Su Bai, Yingzi, get ready—Fang Yifan accidentally spilled the beans about the planetarium.”

Yingzi’s gaze immediately turned toward Fang Yifan, who hung his head in guilt.

“I’ll handle it,” Su Bai assured her with a pat on the shoulder before following Song Qian.

“Su Bai, what’s the deal with this 6.5 million yuan?” Song Qian demanded as soon as they entered the house.

Relaxing on the sofa, Su Bai took her phone and explained, “It’s just the profit I made from stock trading this week. Four million yuan was my initial investment, and I also invested 100,000 yuan on your behalf. The rest is profit. Don’t worry—it’s all clean money.”

With that, he transferred 6 million yuan back into his account.

“Keep the remaining 500,000 yuan as your share,” Su Bai added nonchalantly.

“But…” Song Qian began, clearly unsettled.

“And another thing,” Su Bai interrupted. “I did take Yingzi to the planetarium—I lied. But I had no choice, considering you didn’t keep your promise.”

“We agreed you wouldn’t be so strict with Yingzi anymore. I guaranteed she’d score over 700 points on the university entrance exams. But you’re still too controlling. So, can we just drop this?”
