Chapter 41: Gentle Song Qian?! The Thrill of Conquest!
Su Bai’s words left Song Qian somewhat perplexed.
In front of others, Song Qian had always been a strong, dominant woman. But when facing Su Bai, she found herself at a disadvantage, unable to win against him.
After all, this was part of the agreement they had made earlier.
“Fine, I won’t press the matter. But you can’t lie to me again—no more secrets.”
“Understood. This will be the last time.”
“In that case, I won’t hold it against you.”
Seeing Song Qian relent, Su Bai nodded in satisfaction.
For any man, seeing a strong-willed woman transform into a meek rabbit in his presence was a deeply satisfying thrill—a feeling of conquest.
Picking up his phone, Su Bai sent a message to Qiao Yingzi,
“Yingzi, everything has been resolved. Come home.”
Reading Su Bai’s text, Qiao Yingzi finally felt relieved.
Though Su Bai assured her the matter was settled, she still felt uneasy. She knew her mother well—if Song Qian said everything was fine but later confronted her when Su Bai was gone, it would be her who suffered.
With this thought, she hastily called her father.
“Dad, when are you coming? I can’t take it anymore—please hurry!”
Hearing his daughter’s distressed tone, Qiao Weidong immediately understood something was wrong.
“Yingzi, I’ve already prepared everything. I was planning to move in today, but your Uncle Fang Yuan’s family is moving too. If I come now, your mum will definitely find out.”
“Don’t worry. I’ve had Apartment 401 cleaned up. By tomorrow morning, you’ll be having breakfast there.”
Hearing this, Qiao Yingzi finally felt a little more at ease.
When she returned home, Song Qian greeted her warmly.
“It’s good you’re back. I won’t blame you this time. In the future, if something comes up, just tell me directly. Do you really think I wouldn’t let you go? You’re my daughter, after all.”
Qiao Yingzi nodded obediently, though she remained sceptical. She knew her mother too well to believe she would let things slide so easily.
“Mom, I was wrong. I promise I won’t hide anything from you again.”
“Good. Now, come and eat something.”
Song Qian brought out some pre-cooked dishes from the freezer, heated them up, and served them.
After sitting down to eat, Song Qian stood and said, “You two eat first. I’m going upstairs to check on Wenjie’s moving situation. Just leave the dishes in the sink—I’ll wash them when I get back.”
Turning to her daughter, she added, “Yingzi, if you don’t feel like studying, come upstairs to relax for a bit.”
“Okay, Mom.”
With that, Song Qian left.
As soon as she was gone, Qiao Yingzi turned to Su Bai, curiosity gleaming in her eyes.
“Su Bai, how did you manage to calm my mum down?”
Su Bai chuckled lightly. “It’s simple. This week, I used her stock trading account to invest and made a decent profit. She’s happy about that, so she didn’t press the issue.”
“How much did you make?”
“Not much, just around 2.5 million. I gave her 500,000—it’s enough for her to rent a space and start a tutoring centre.”
“2.5 million? Are you joking?”
Su Bai didn’t explain further. Instead, he showed her the recent transaction details on his phone.
“Wow! 6 million!”
Seeing the balance in Su Bai’s account, Qiao Yingzi hugged his arm excitedly.
“You’re loaded! Take care of me from now on!”
“Don’t worry. Stick with me, and you’ll never have to worry about food or drink.”
“You’re the best!”
Qiao Yingzi’s admiration for Su Bai reached new heights—his wealth was truly overwhelming.

Song Qian was preparing to leave Tong Wenjie’s place.
“What are you planning to do next?” Tong Wenjie asked, busy unpacking after the move.
“I’m heading to the supermarket. Yingzi and Su Bai have been working hard recently, so I want to buy some bird’s nest for them to replenish their energy,” Song Qian replied.
Since Su Bai had recently given her a substantial sum of money, Song Qian decided to spend it on something meaningful.
“Alright. Once I’ve finished unpacking, let’s go grocery shopping together sometime.”
“Sure. Take your time.”
With that, Song Qian headed off to the supermarket.
At the same time, Fang Yuan was in the kitchen, preparing dinner.
“Fang Yuan, you’ll need to make dinner for Fang Yifan and Lin Lei’er tonight. I don’t know when I’ll be back,” Tong Wenjie said.
Though she didn’t want to attend the company banquet—especially after being demoted—she knew how important the second round of financing was for the company.
“Don’t worry about us. Just focus on the banquet. If it gets late, don’t force yourself to come home,” Fang Yuan replied reassuringly.@@novelbin@@
While he didn’t share it, Fang Yuan had his own concerns. Recently, he had been laid off from work, leaving the family entirely dependent on Tong Wenjie’s income.
With their recent move to Shuxiang Yayuan, paying 11,000 yuan in monthly rent, and the costs of their children’s tutoring, their expenses had skyrocketed.
Fang Yuan hoped to find a new job quickly, ideally one that aligned with his previous role. In the meantime, he wanted Tong Wenjie to focus on regaining her previous position, which came with a significantly higher salary.
As Tong Wenjie stepped into the elevator, preparing to leave, she sighed.
What do you think?
