Chapter 99: Chapter 98: Crimson Eyes – Woo woo woo
Boom.
The collision of two colored energy pillars in mid-air created a gust that brushed through the sea of flames like wind sweeping through grass, expanding in circles outward.
“Hiss!!”
The intense shockwave spread, causing several ferocious wounds to burst open on the Split-eyed Demon Spider’s body, with green liquid spurting out and instantly evaporating upon touching the flames.
Its eight blood-colored spider eyes glared at the Nine-tailed Demon Fox partially hidden in the sea of flames and let out an angry hiss.
Suddenly, it lifted its abdomen, and the flesh bumps trembled nonstop as the pupils within rapidly rotated, attempting to lock onto the Nine-tailed Demon Fox.
...
Suddenly, the pupils stopped spinning, fixating firmly in one direction.
Behind the Split-eyed Demon Spider, the flesh bumps spasmed, and beams of grey Death Rays shot out, penetrating layers of flames and silently heading toward the Nine-tailed Demon Fox concealed within the inferno.
“Roar!”
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox, sensing the threat, flickered in and out of the flames, appearing not far behind the Split-eyed Demon Spider. It leaped high, its front paws spreading open with a hint of distortion.
“Tss!”
“Hiss!!” @@novelbin@@
The Split-eyed Demon Spider stiffened, a bump on its back suddenly exploding, scattering chunks of flesh and green liquid as it screeched, turning around with black and purple energy brewing in front of its mouthpiece, madly sweeping everywhere.
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox flipped aside, evading the Death Ray, and vanished into the flames like a fish slipping into water.
The Death Ray swept through the inferno like lasers, the reddish flames twisting to counter the dark energy, sparks flying amidst the rolling fire.
In the flames, a pair of crimson vertical pupils silently watched the Split-eyed Demon Spider.
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox, licking its wounds in the shadows, was also not faring well. The very moment it attacked the bump, the bump had inverted abruptly, a grey ray piercing through the flesh pad on its paw. Had it not dodged in time, its head might have been penetrated as well.
No blood oozed from the wound; it seemed as if a circular hole was naturally present. However, when stretching its paw, because some tendons and bones were missing, the two foremost claws were as good as decorations.
It watched the maddened Split-eyed Demon Spider with a hateful gaze, preparing for the next opportunity to strike.
…
“Wow, that move’s powerful! Tsk, another leg’s gone, what a pity,” Shao Zifeng squatted atop a pile of rubble, holding Cang Feng and savoring the battle in the center of the sea of flames, occasionally commenting on the fight.
“Ying ying!” Qiuqiu sat to the side, holding an energy potion. It nodded along with whatever Shao Zifeng said, its long tail swishing on the ground, looking every bit like a fawning puppy.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, the Nine-tailed Demon Fox burst out of the flames, leapt high, and drops of flame dripped from its nine tails like beads of water, looking dazzling.
It opened its sharp mouth toward the Split-eyed Demon Spider, emitting a piercing cry.
The sea of flames suddenly roiled, faintly revealing the ground cracking rapidly, bulging, and crumbling, as a surge of magma lifted the Split-eyed Demon Spider high.
Before it reached the apex, the Nine-tailed Demon Fox spat out a pillar of flame entwined with twisting black particles from its mouth, violently slamming the Split-eyed Demon Spider back into the sea of flames.
The massive impact instantly created a vacuum, the center void of flames, with the Split-eyed Demon Spider lying on its back on the cracked ground, its grotesque spider legs trembling incessantly.
Struggling to turn over, its body was covered in wounds, the flesh bumps on its back burst open, leaving behind charred hollows, and three horrid legs dangled powerlessly on the ground, clearly broken.
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox landed in the flames, its legs almost giving out as it nearly slumped to the ground. It panted heavily, with blood trickling down from its gaping mouth.
Though it had the upper hand in the last exchange, its injuries were not much better than those of the Split-eyed Demon Spider.
Various piercings left it with irreversible damage.
“It’s about time.”
Seeing this, Shao Zifeng patted Qiuqiu, who was sipping an energy potion, and stood up leaning on Cang Feng, his left hand holding the scabbard while his right gripped the handle.
He looked down at Qiuqiu, “Did you remember everything I told you just now?”
“Ying ying… *burp*”
Qiuqiu finished the energy potion, exhaling a puff of black smoke. Its small paws clutched the empty bottle, nodding vehemently.
“Let’s begin then!”
As soon as the words were out, Shao Zifeng’s pupils changed instantaneously, with flames dancing in his golden-red vertical pupils.
The hands that held the hidden edge of the sword were also covered in crimson flames, and the sword trembled violently in his grip, as if he could hardly hold onto it.
Qiuqiu patted the ground with its little paw, its eyes also igniting with blazing flames, as strands and wisps of fire elements emerged from the gaps in its Scale Armor, gathering into a fireball on its back.
“Hiss!”
The fireball tore apart, and a pair of broad wings of flame suddenly unfurled.
Qiuqiu flew up and grabbed hold of Shao Zifeng’s clothes with its little claws. As the fiery wings fluttered, it carried Shao Zifeng slowly into the air.
Qiuqiu’s long tail rested on Shao Zifeng’s right arm, stabilizing his form while also firmly pressing the trembling hidden edge into its sheath.
The night wind blew as Shao Zifeng looked down upon the burning earth below, with the spirit of a teenager in his heart igniting.
It seemed, this height wasn’t so scary after all.
Perhaps, compared to the brilliance of the sea of fire, the wings of flame were too faint, and they failed to catch anyone’s attention.
This time, Qiuqiu flew very high, and they could vaguely see the white belly of dawn at the eastern horizon.
The biting cold wind of the high altitude whipped wildly, Shao Zifeng’s clothes flapping loudly in the wind.
The wings of flame continuously shed fire, scattering into the air. Suddenly, Qiuqiu’s form wavered, having reached the maximum height it could fly.
“Roar!”
Qiuqiu roared, its dragon wings shook, transforming into a streak of light, diving down with a long trail of flame behind it.
“Director, look at the sky,” Chen Zhenglong suddenly pointed at the night sky and called out to Yang Qian, who had just returned.
Yang Qian was stunned, trying hard to open his presbyopic eyes…
He vaguely made out a pair of dragon wings with a long trail of fire rapidly descending.
“What is…”
The two exchanged glances, filled with anticipation and relief, but above all, concern.
As the dive accelerated, two white streams of air trailed from the tips of the wings, and Shao Zifeng tightly closed his eyes, slowly drawing the hidden edge from its sheath.
“Clang!”
A crisp sound of the sword reverberated through the night sky, and an intense force transmitted from the handle as if it would slip from his hands.
“Roar!” Qiuqiu bellowed.
As the blade was drawn, the crimson sword did not vaporize and emit a blade of qi like last time; instead, Qiuqiu suppressed it within the blade.
The fire elements from below, from the sea of fire, were attracted, crazily stripped from the flames, and adhered to the blade.
That was why Shao Zifeng had insisted on breaking the Nine-tailed Demon Fox’s binding. It was a gamble that the flames of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox held a great attraction to the hidden edge, a hypothesis formed from the sword’s reaction when he had first come into close contact with the flames.
Shao Zifeng trembled all over, gripping the handle of the sword with both hands, he opened his mouth and yelled, “Chi…uh…feng…zi…umm…slash!”
The searing wind poured in instantly, his skin flapping in the wind, so he couldn’t shout out the embarrassing lines completely.
Hum!
The moment Shao Zifeng swung down, Qiuqiu released the suppression, and a burst of red light exploded, with the sword’s radiance entwined with twisted black particles.
The intense disturbance finally drew the attention of those below, they looked up, their eyes reflecting a streak of red light.
The radiance of the blade was fleeting.
The sea of fire instantly calmed down.
What do you think?
