Chapter 30: Assassin! Invincibility Talent
Chapter 30: Assassin! Invincibility Talent
"Sealed," Lucian responded without hesitation. He didn't know what would be inside, why would he bother to risk it. If it was something stupid he couldn't use instead what would he do?
The woman nodded and produced an ornate pen that glowed with contractual magic. "Please sign here, acknowledging the exchange of the silver Treasury for the Primal Wildblood Resonance technique, with the balance of 30,000 relic coins to be credited to your account."
Lucian signed with a false name. The pen flared briefly, binding the agreement in magical contract.
"Excellent," the woman said, producing a small crystalline card.
"Your balance has been transferred to this temporary credit crystal. And now, your acquisition."
From a secured drawer beneath the table, she withdrew the white jade scroll case with its gold meridian bands. Even in the subdued light of the alcove, it seemed to pulse with intrinsic power.
"The Primal Wildblood Resonance," she announced formally, placing it on the table between them.
Lucian immediately placed it in his interstellar space.
"The transaction is complete," the woman confirmed, standing as well. "The auction house thanks you for your participation. Would you like an escort to the exit?"
"That won't be necessary," Lucian replied, adjusting his hood once more.
As he left the alcove, Lucian maintained his casual pace, but his mind raced. There would always be trouble when this sort of amount has been exchanged.
But he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible before things get spicy.
Making his way through the main hall, he noticed several groups of people huddled in intense discussion. Fragments of conversation reached him as he passed.
"...unprecedented prices for a non-specialized technique..."
"...the Royal Guardian Guild making aggressive acquisitions again..."
"...wonder who that hooded bidder was..."
Approaching the main exit, he noticed a commotion near one of the side passages. A group of guards surrounded a red-faced noble—the same young blond man he had outbid for the Primal Wildblood Resonance.
The noble was gesturing angrily toward the auction floor while a calm auction official attempted to placate him.
"I demand to know!" the noble's voice carried across the hall. "Which commoner dares to undermine me?!"
Lucian shifted his path slightly, giving the confrontation a wide roundabout.
The last thing he needed was attention to himself.
As he reached the grand entrance, the evening air greeted him with its cool embrace.
Lucian immediately merge me with the flowing crowds. He was really eager and needed to find a secure location to examine his new meditation technique.
Since he currently had no place to stay, he could only sleep in an hotel at the moment. He could have purchase a house, but it would be useless since he would forget all about this place in a week or so.
He turned towards an alleyway as he continued to walk towards an hotel he had seen when he was coming for the auction.
Just as Lucian sighted the massive skyscraper from afar, he suddenly paused and a playful smirk appeared in his lips. He could use Heaven Cloak to basically mask his existence. However how would he earn stat points from that?
He resumed walking and headed towards a secluded corner of the street. He walked for a while and then stopped as the path had been sealed.
He suddenly turned around.
"Hiding like rats in the gutter, is that what your parents taught you guys?"
Instantly, two shadows leapt down from the top.of the two buildings forming the alleyway.
"Bang!" "Bang!"
The ground cracked as the two figures dropped from a height of thirty meters easily.
The two figures were covered in a massive cloak. One had a slim figure while the other possess a massive bulk figure like that of an adult bear.
"Hehe, you two finally revealed yourselves, uhn?"
Lucian chuckled as he saw the two people drop.
The slim figure suddenly spoke. "For someone who is in trouble, you sure know how to run your mouth off." The voice was very soft and angelic, sounding like the tweeting of birds in the morning. It was a female.
Lucian raised an eyebrow in surprise but wasn't shocked. Women possess the same amount of strength in this world as men. while they still possess weaker physique, that's for only those who hadn't entered the tower.
"Hmph! Let's see if he talks when I break his arms and legs."
The other figure didn't seem to like talking much.
"Boom!"
The ground shattered as he transformed into a massive blur. His bear like hand grabbed at Lucian's skull while the other hand grabbed his arm. It was as though he was planning to rip his arm off in a single pull.
However, the air exploded slightly as the bear-like man grabbed air.
"Hm?"
The man's eyes widened and just as he was about to retreat out of caution, a sharp spear tore through the air like a bullet and stabbed him right at the center of his skull.
"Stone Skin!"
The bear man roared as he activated his talent. Instantly, his entire skin transformed into pure rock as the tip of the spear stabbed just two centimeters into his bone.
"Bang!"
The force sent the bulky man reeling backwards as he retreated seven meters backwards.
"Oh! You also possess talent!"
"I want to see if I can absorb you talent. Hehe!"
Lucian's chuckle echoed through the alley way like a haunting ghost as stood there with his spear in hand like a god of war.
"Yvonne, this kid is weird, we need to do this together." The bulky man's grating voice echoed as he appeared more cautious.
If he hadn't activated stone skin, then he would have most likely died by now.
"Hmph! You can't even handle a 16 year old kid, what use are you to me then?"
The lady angrily glared at her colleague with her emerald green eyes and then suddenly vanished into thin air.
Lucian's face instantly changed. "Speed?" but then he shook his head in surprise.
"Invincibility!"
It was a very rare D rank talent that was almost at the level of a C rank talent. If it wasn't for the fact that it couldn't suppress the sounds of footsteps, it would have definitely reached C rank!
What do you think?
