Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Facing Head-on Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Facing Head-on Carolline had dinner and said she wanted to see Bryan Hawkins’s condition. Henry Ruiz did not stop her. Andy Aguirre had to do a lab experiment in the afternoon, so he went back to school after lunch.

Emily Hill had to go back to the kindergarten for a meeting in the afternoon, so she also left after lunch. Henry Ruiz and Garth Aguirre continued implementing their fishing plan and left early by car.

Carolline went to the Inpatient Department alone. Everyone knew her and she warmly greeted her father’s colleagues.

As she was entering the Inpatient Department, Matilda Ferguson happened to be taking the elevator downstairs, and they met face to face.

Carolline hesitated for a moment, then continued forward. When she came in front of Matilda, Matilda snorted coldly, “Carolline, let’s go outside and talk?”

The two came to the small flower garden downstairs of the Inpatient Department. There was an artificial mountain and fish pond, with many colorful koi fish swimming in the water, very beautiful.

Matilda walked in front, stood next to the artificial mountain, and looked down at the koi in the pond. Several koi fish of different colors were originally floating on the surface to feed, but they darted to the bottom of the water when people approached.

A tall person is not truly tall unless they have high morality. In Carolline’s eyes, Matilda no longer had any morals, especially when she raised her arm just now, exposing a bruised mark at the nape of her neck.

Carolline wasn’t stupid; she knew what that was.

Subconsciously, she retreated two steps, not out of fear of sudden attack from Matilda, but because she genuinely thought this woman was filthy.

At this moment, she finally understood completely what Megan Clifton had said about Matilda. No wonder she looked down on this cousin of hers so much.

“You little girl, didn’t I warn you before not to have any ideas about him? You didn’t listen, so be it. But how is it that today, as soon as he has an accident, you bring him to the hospital? You’re determined to compete with me for him, aren’t you?”

Carolline’s last sentence was quite subtle.

Naturally, she was referring to Matilda’s previous entanglements with other men and the unidentified hickey on her neck.

“I’ve said all I have to say, and I hope you will take care of yourself, Miss Ferguson. As for what happened today, I can only say that it was a coincidence, not a dirty plot you’re thinking of now.”

In the end, Carolline explained that her relationship with Bryan was innocent.

Turned around to leave, after two steps, she still felt reluctant. Matilda gritted her teeth, turned back around, and followed Carolline into the Inpatient Department.
