Chapter 24 - 24 24 No Giving Up (1)
Chapter 24: Chapter 24: No Giving Up (1) Chapter 24: Chapter 24: No Giving Up (1) Bryan Hawkins was discharged from the hospital in less than three days, and Carolline Ruiz knew about Bryan’s situation. She simply couldn’t imagine that someone like Bryan, who knew he had a chance of recovery, could give up.
She didn’t know him for a long time, and it could be said that she didn’t understand him at all. However, she felt that he wasn’t the kind of person who would easily give up. So how could he make such a choice?
On the day of his discharge, it happened to be the weekend. She went to see him off, and Bryan was still smiling at her lightly. He later asked her father to help with the discharge procedures, because he definitely wouldn’t be able to come on Monday.
That day, she didn’t notice anything unusual. When he was discharged, Bryan was still sitting in a wheelchair. When he got into the car, he supported his body with one arm.
If it wasn’t for Andy Aguirre’s slip of the tongue, she wouldn’t have known that Bryan and her father had hidden such an important matter from her.
How could Bryan give up? She wouldn’t allow him to.
From her father, she learned that his recovery rate was as high as 60%. With such a high rate, it’s unlikely that anyone else would easily give up. But why did he give up so easily?
After class, Carolline didn’t eat dinner and went straight to the address Bryan left for her at the hospital.
At this time, the Hawkins Family had just moved to Pupace Mountain for less than a year.
But the security guards at Pupace Mountain knew the Hawkins Family. When Carolline reported the address, the guard made a phone call for her. Surprisingly, it was Bryan’s grandfather and grandmother who personally came out to greet her.
Seeing her, Mrs. Hawkins was especially excited, “Girl, you finally came.”
Mrs. Hawkins held Carolline’s hand, not knowing why, but ever since her grandson had been discharged, he hadn’t been taking care of his business. He asked his father to buy a lot of fruit and vegetable seeds and locked himself in the Flower Garden all day, tilling the land and planting things.
This listless Bryan worried her, and Mr. Hawkins was also looking worried.
“Grandfather Hawkins, Grandmother Hawkins, I’m sorry, I…” Carolline wanted to say that her abrupt visit really disturbed them, but knowing that Bryan would just give up on his legs, she really couldn’t accept it.
She convinced herself that it was because Bryan had helped her before. His kick at the thief had been so cool and she loved the sight of his handsome legs taking down the bad guy. She wouldn’t allow him to give up on those legs.
“We’re both happy that you could come. Go and see him for us. If you can persuade him, do it. If you can’t, we’ll just have to leave it up to fate.” The elder Mr. Hawkins sighed.
“…Okay.” Carolline nodded and replied quietly.
At this point, she realized that she had been rash to come here like this. Even Bryan’s family couldn’t persuade him, and she was just an outsider. Despite her eloquence, she might not be able to convince him.
Perhaps, she’d do better asking his girlfriend, Matilda Ferguson, for help.
“Umm, Grandfather Hawkins, Grandmother Hawkins, has Matilda… Miss Ferguson been here?” Carolline hesitated and hesitated before finally asking. Maybe having Matilda come and talk would be more suitable.
“That woman better not ever try to come in here.” Granny Hawkins naturally knew that Carolline was referring to Matilda Ferguson. She had no good feelings for that woman.
It was because of that woman that she wanted to change the former villa. In the new villa, she would absolutely not allow that woman to come and pollute it again. Just before, Bryan had made some money, so he bought this villa to please her.
What do you think?
