Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Don’t Give Up (2) Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Don’t Give Up (2) “…” Carolline Ruiz didn’t know that Grandma Hawkins disliked Matilda Ferguson so much, and therefore, didn’t say anything.

Soon, she was brought into the Hawkins Family home. Austin Hawkins hadn’t returned yet. Sophia Lawson prepared some fruit knowing that she was coming and even got some juice and snacks ready. Old Lady Hawkins even asked her to stay for dinner.

She couldn’t refuse because the old master insisted.

She had no appetite for juice and snacks. Old Lady Hawkins understood and called a servant who was on standby, “Xiaolian, take Miss Ruiz to see the young master.”

“Yes, madam.” Xiaolian approached and respectfully nodded at Carolline Ruiz, “Miss Ruiz, this way please.”

It was not until then that Carolline got to see the vastness of the villa. It was just like the grand villas in Europe, complete with buildings, a flower garden, a swimming pool – everything. Only the super-rich could afford such a villa.

As for people like her, they could only sigh and admire it.

At the moment, Carolline had no mood to admire the grandeur and magnificence of the villa. She kept her head down, following Xiaolian’s pace closely with the hope of meeting Bryan Hawkins as soon as possible.

When they reached the entrance of the archway to the backyard, Xiaolian stopped. “Miss Ruiz, the young master is inside. He generally does not allow us to enter. So… I can only take you so far.”

Towards the end, a look of terror was evident on Xiaolian’s face. The young master of past was good-natured, smiled a lot, just like a bright and cheerful young man. But the young master now couldn’t compare to his past self.

His gloomy, cold face didn’t reveal his emotions. People could only steer clear of him, fearing they might provoke him.

Carolline didn’t know that Bryan Hawkins had become like this. Even the servants avoided him.

“Alright, I can go in myself. Thank you.” Carolline gave a smile to Xiaolian as a thank you gesture, to which Xiaolian turned around and quickly left.

Watching Xiaolian almost flee clouded Carolline’s face with melancholy. She turned around and prepared to enter the archway when she saw Bryan Hawkins coming out in his wheelchair.

Both were startled upon seeing each other. Carolline was at a loss for words. Despite preparing herself mentally on the whole journey, running into him suddenly made her forget everything that she had planned to say.

“Why are you here?” Bryan Hawkins asked, rolling up his sleeves, his forehead glistening with sweat.

“I heard that you decided to give up treatment, so, of course, I had to come. Bryan Hawkins, you listen to me, you cannot give up. I won’t let you give it up.” Carolline didn’t care about being articulate any more. She’d forgotten all the convincing words she had planned to say. All she could remember was that he shouldn’t give up.

“…” Bryan Hawkins stared at Carolline for a while with his deep black eyes, and then turned away.

Both fell silent. Bryan Hawkins did not speak and Carolline didn’t know what else to say.

“Carolline, don’t be so presumptuous. My life is none of your business. Don’t come here again in the future.” The unspoken words being, she didn’t have the right.

After saying this, Bryan Hawkins started moving towards his quarters in his wheelchair.

Carolline stood in place, staring blankly.

Yes, it was his life. What right did she have to interfere?

Laughing ruefully, Carolline finally understood. She turned and started heading towards the entrance door of Hawkins’ residence, took two steps, and then began to run.

She wasn’t aware that as she started running, Bryan Hawkins, who was about to climb the stairs, turned his wheelchair in a different direction to watch her as she ran away.
