Chapter 54 The Power of the Blood Flag
"Boom!"
Chu Wuyao dodged one of the transparent figure's attacks, then stepped lightly on the ground and her figure appeared in front of another figure.
Her eyes glowed with a strange light, causing the transparent figure in front of her to fall into an illusion, making it unable to put up any resistance whatsoever.
"Swoosh!"
She swung the black flaming sword that she held in her hand, cutting the figure into two, still burning pieces, that soon turned into a mist that merged with the surrounding mist that was everywhere around her.
Even then, Chu Wuyao didn't have any time to relax, as she had to dodge the many attacks that were about to land on her.
She wasn't surprised by this and had gone through this exact same thing hundreds of times over the past half an hour.
However, despite the current "dangerous" situation, Chu Wuyao didn't show any panic and remained completely calm.
"It seems that even if I don't use 100% of my strength, I'm still slightly stronger than the average cultivator at the 9th Level of Qi Accumulation.", she thought inwardly and felt that now that she had confirmed the full extent of her combat power, it was about time she put an end this farce.
Over the past half hour, she had killed countless figures, only to find them appearing again after a certain amount of time.
By now, Chu Wuyao had realized that to leave this place, she either had to find that white-haired young man and kill him, or find a flaw in this world that was covered in white mist.
The first way was clearly impossible at the moment, and the second one was way harder than it seemed to.
With the knowledge she currently possessed, Chu Wuyao didn't even know where to start from in order to find flaws in this world.
If this had happened before her arrival in the Waterflower City, Chu Wuyao might have been in a dangerous situation.
But now, she felt that it was quite simple to get out of here.
After all, her style had always been to face challenges straight-forwardly rather than go in circles.
With a move of her mind, an item flashed out Chu Wuyao's space ring and appeared in right her hand.
This item was a black flagpole that was covered in twisted golden runes, while a pitch red flag was hung on own of its ends.
Just by holding it in her hand, Chu Wuyao almost felt that her strength was increasing out of nothing.
Her gray eyes reflected the red color of the flag, making her look slightly evil, as she sensed the creatures inside her Mist Domain and saw the white mist that covered everything.
"Other people might be afraid to use magic weapons at the Qi Accumulation Realm, but with my Devil Body, I should be able to bear some of the backlash.", she judged.
Even if her guess was wrong, she could still heal the injuries with Sin Points afterwards.
Feeling that more and more invisible creatures were gathering, Chu Wuyao no longer hesitated.
Clenching her jaw, she bit her tongue, causing it to bleed, then spat out a mouthful of blood on the Blood Flag.
The moment her blood landed on the flagpole, it was quickly absorbed and the aura of the Blood Flag surged, oppressing everything around it.
Holding it in her hand, Chu Wuyao had the illusion that what she was holding was not a flag, but a whole ocean made out of blood, that was ready to submerge everyone and everything.
In the sky, the young man who was floating in the air saw her actions and noticed that something was wrong.
He wanted to step forward and stop her, but it was already too late.
Under his shocked eyes, Chu Wuyao expressionlessly waved the Blood Flag in a circle around her.
"Booom!"
As she waved it, a huge amount of blood flew out of the Blood Flag and fell in the world around her, rushing towards the invisible figures, looking ready to to floor this whole world.
The moment the blood touched them, the figure's invisibility disappeared and their appearance became apparent, revealing hundreds of ghosts with eyes filled with unimaginable hatred, as if they were hating every living thing.
With these figure's strength equivalent to the 5th Level of Qi Accumulation, they wouldn't be afraid by just some blood, but something surprisingly actually happened.
With the blood continuously pouring out of the Blood Flag, countless mummified, thin human hands stuck out of the ocean made out of blood, hugging these figures tightly and trying to pull them down.
"ROAR!"
Hundreds of figures roared like wounded beasts and tried their best to shake these hands off, but their struggle turned to be completely meaningless.
In less than half a second, all these figures had been pulled into the blood ocean by these hands, never to appear ever again.
This seemed to have taken a long of time, but everything happened in an just instant.
From the time that Chu Wuyao took out the Blood Flag, to when every figure was pulled down, less than a second had passed.
It all happened so fast in fact, that the young man in the sky didn't even have enough time to do anything.
Even Chu Wuyao, who was the one using the Blood Flag, looked at the ocean made out of blood around her with disbelieving eyes.
Truth to be told, even she didn't expect that the Blood Flag's power was so strong.
These figures were not hundreds of mortals, but equivalent to hundreds of cultivators working together.
Even Li Zhengyu, the strongest person Chu Wuyao had ever seen, would not be able to deal with them so easily.
But the stronger the power that the Blood Flag showed, the happier Chu Wuyao became.
Biting her tongue again, one more mouthful of blood landed on the Blood Flag, awakening its spirituality and increasing its strength even further.
Chu Wuyao knew that just killing these figures was not the end, she had to destroy this whole world!
Her eyes became red, filled with madness, and the Blood Flag seemed to resonate with her wish for destruction.
The flagpole shook, seemingly happy with the feelings of its owner, and the amount of blood that was pouring out increased even further.
The ocean made out of blood became larger and larger, and its height became higher and higher.
2 meters, 4 meters, 10 meters, 50 meters, 100 meters.
Soon, under the young man's stunned eyes, the ocean had appeared right under him, ready to submerge him too.
"Wha-what is this?", the man struggled to speak, as the evil, metallic smell of the blood below assaulted his nose and almost drove him crazy.
Even as the member of an evil force, it was the first time for him to become witness to something like this.
Instantly, he made the decision to escape, abandoning this world and setting Chu Wuyao free.
Compared to his life, the mission by the organization was nothing.
Unfortunately, when the young man recovered and made the decision, he found that it was already too late.
Hundreds if not thousands of thin, human hands stuck out of the blood ocean and grabbed at his feet, his abdomen and hands, pulling him underground with all their strength.
The man's aura surged and he waved his hands, cutting a few of those hands, but their large number was not something he could deal with.
Moreover, every time he cut a hand, it would turn into blood, fall into the ocean and then turn into a hand again, reaching towards him.
His eyes flashed with panic and his hands' movements started to slow down due to his intense emotions, showing some flaws from time to time.
"NO! Spa...re me! I'm-I'm just following o...rders!", the young man tried to beg for mercy, but the hands didn't even spare his mouth, grabbing his tongue and pulling it downwards.
Not long after, amidst the cries of the man and the shouts for mercy, the thousands of hands finally managed to pull him underground.
Even so, the ocean made out of blood shook and shouting reverberated throughout this whole world, evidence of his struggle and his unwillingness to die.
Thankfully, this struggle didn't last for long.
Soon, only the sound of biting and the sound of bones cracking could be heard in the whole world.
"Crack...Crack!"
With the death of its owner, the surrounding space seemed unable to hold on any longer, showing cracks everywhere, as if this entire world was made out of glass.
"Crash!"
After a loud, shattering noise, the whole world shattered into countless tiny pieces.
Chu Wuyao felt her head spinning and had a strange feeling of motion sickness, as if she was traveling through a wormhole.
The next second, when she recovered from this feeling and regained her senses, she discovered that she had returned to the "real" world, to the place near the Waterflower City where she previously was.
There was grass, trees and colorful flowers everywhere around her, while in front of her, a young man with white hair, white eyebrows and white eyes was standing, supported by a wooden cane.
Nothing seemed to have changed before, as if everything that Chu Wuyao had gone through was just a dream.
That was of course, if you were to ignore the countless wounds, blood and bite marks on the young man's body, as well as the horrified expression that remained on his face even after his eyes had become entirely lifeless.
What do you think?
