Chapter 970 970: The Battle Had Just Started
"Tristan, I will leave this fortress with you. FaMo and Miho will assist you. Miho, contact me right away if you happen to see my daughter together with the army of guardian warriors. For now, Flint, Scarlet, and I will search for her." Zhen-Zhen instructed them.
"Okay, Wifey. Just leave this to us." Tristan reassured his wife.
"Liam, strengthen your barrier. I can sense the enemies' power. They are strong." Zhen-Zhen reminded Liam.
"I know what to do, Zhen-Zhen. I'll protect my comrades. Don't worry about us. Just focus on searching for Cassie," Liam responded with a smile. He was truly glad to reunite with Zhen-Zhen and Tristan.
Without further ado, Zhen-Zhen motioned for Flint and Scarlet to follow her. The three of them left the barracks. Meanwhile, Liam, Tristan, and others prepared for the arrival of the opposing faction.
"Evacuate the children and the elders to the safe areas. Shino and his team stayed with the healers as they continued to cast the protection spell for the barrier." Liam ordered the five elite warriors. Then he turned to the other guardian warriors.
"The elite fighters should disperse to the four directions. Tristan, you should guard the south side of the barrier. Eric, go to the west side while Justine should guard the east side. I'll stay here on the north side." Liam took the lead in dispatching the team.
FaMo joined Tristan while Miho accompanied Justine. The Giant Spider was assigned to Eric's team. The tension grew as they could feel the approaching guardian warriors.
It did not take long before the Calec's army arrived at the north side wherein Liam and other elite fighters were standing on guard.
Calec was surprised when he recognized Liam. "Liam, you are now awake?" he mumbled in disbelief.
Calec's army was composed of two hundred element wielders. They were all strong fighters as compared to the healers. They were trained to fight and do offensive attacks, unlike the healers who were always on the defensive side and support.
"Calec, stop this madness! Why are you attacking your fellow guardian warriors?!" Liam questioned him.
The other element wielders were also taken aback when they recognized their former guardian leader.
"Our former guardian leader is back. He is supporting the healers!"
"What should we do now? Can we fight him? He is powerful?" Some warriors feared Liam as they knew how powerful he was. He could control water elements and he also knew how to cast spells like Shamans.
On the other hand, Calec regained his composure. He was no longer the weak Calec who would always obey Liam's command. He was now the new guardian leader of the Guardian Warriors clan.
"So the traitor is back!" Calec put on a smug smile. He didn't let Liam intimidate him. "We came here to eliminate all the traitors. We will start with you!"
Calec stood at the forefront, his eyes blazing with determination as he unleashed the full extent of his power. The ground quivered beneath him, a prelude to the earth-shaking spectacle about to unfold. In a matter of seconds, colossal vines erupted from the earth, snaking their way toward Liam with deadly intent.
But before the vines could make contact, a powerful force intervened, forming a protective barrier that shielded Liam and his comrade from harm. The barrier held firm against the onslaught, repelling the giant vines.
As Liam surveyed the scene with a grim expression, a wave of realization washed over him. Calec, his former ally, had transformed into a formidable enemy, showing no mercy and allowing no room for negotiation. Calec launched an attack, showing his determination to harm Liam and his fellow warriors.
"Let's combine our powers and destroy the barrier!" Calec's commanding voice echoed across the battlefield, rallying his troops to action.
Responding to their leader's call, a group of twenty fire-wielders stepped forward, their fiery determination mirrored in their blazing eyes. With a synchronized display of power, they unleashed a barrage of flame-based attacks upon the barrier.
"Roar of the Fire Dragon!"
"Flame Burst!"
"Scorching Blast!"
They shouted in unison. The fire attack collided with the barrier, igniting a massive explosion of heat and energy. The barrier quivered under the onslaught, its shimmering surface beginning to weaken as the intense heat slowly eroded its defenses.
With unwavering focus, the fire-wielders concentrated their assault on a single point, determined to breach the barrier and seize victory at any cost.
However, as the barrier weakened under the relentless assault of the fire-wielders, Liam seized the opportunity to mount a counterattack. Channeling the power of his water element, he stepped forward with a steely resolve.
"Torrential Wave!" With a swift motion of his hand, Liam unleashed a powerful torrent of water, its force amplified by the sheer intensity of his concentration.
The rushing waters surged forth, crashing against the fire attacks of the enemy. The clash of elements filled the air as water and fire collided in a spectacular display of elemental power. Steam billowed upward, obscuring the battlefield in a veil of mist as the opposing forces battled for dominance.
Meanwhile, Calec watched with growing unease as Liam's counterattack gained momentum. The realization dawned upon him that the former guardian leader still possessed a strong power.
With a sense of urgency, he rallied his troops, urging them to redouble their efforts to break through the barrier and Liam's attack.
"Wind Element Wielders! Support the Fire Wielders. We have to destroy the barrier as soon as possible!" Calec commanded.
Hearing their leader's go signal, the wind element wielders also joined the battle of power.
"Tornado Whirpool!" They cried out, their voice carried on the wind as they summoned a whirlwind of cyclonic force. The tornado surged toward the barrier, its power adding to the onslaught already unleashed by the fire element wielders.
The combined might of fire and wind proved to be a formidable combination, as the flames were fanned into a raging inferno by the force of the wind. Together, they intensified their assault on the barrier, their elemental powers merging into a devastating onslaught that threatened to overwhelm Liam's power.
"Liam, the barrier is breaking!" An elite fighter mumbled as he witnessed the crack appearing on the barrier's surface. "It can't withstand the enemy's attack," he added with concern.
As the clash of elements reached its peak, the barrier strained under the relentless assault, its shimmering surface beginning to crack.
Liam knew the gravity of the situation. Their combined powers overwhelmed him. But despite that, he remained calm, refusing to give up. He was the only one who could protect them against Calec's army.
With a renewed sense of purpose, he redoubled his efforts, channeling the power of his water element with unwavering resolve.
"Glacial Barrier!" Liam commanded, his voice ringing out with authority as he directed his elemental power toward the barrier. With a swift motion of his hands, he wove intricate patterns in the air, transforming the water into shimmering ice crystals.
The air grew colder as the water froze, forming a thick layer of ice that encased the barrier in a protective sheath. The ice glistened in the flickering light, its surface reflecting the flames of the fire wielders and the swirling winds of the tornado.
The barrier, reinforced by the newfound strength of the ice, held firm against the relentless assault, its defenses strengthened by Liam's power and skill. The combined efforts of fire and wind clashed against the barrier with increasing ferocity, but the ice held fast, repelling their attacks with unwavering resilience.
However, the pressing question remained: how long could Liam withstand the relentless onslaught from the army of guardian warriors? He was the only powerful element wielder on their sides. Currently, they were outnumbered and they were still at a disadvantage.
What do you think?
