Chapter 971 971: Subduing the Hybrids
On the southern side, Tristan and Famo's group stayed on guard, waiting for the arrival of their enemies. As Liam fought Calec's group, hundreds of hybrid warriors showed up on the southern side of the barracks.
"They are here, Tristan," FaMo said as they observed the incoming army of hybrids. Hybrids were combinations of human and animal traits.
"Okay. Famo. What are the powers of hybrids?" Tristan asked him innocently. He was clueless about their powers. All he could see was half human and half animal.
"Their powers vary from each type. They have enhanced physical abilities like strength, speed, agility, and senses." FaMo informed him.
"The bird-type hybrids can fly. But beware of those having sharp claws, they can slash you in just one attack." One elite fighter from their side added, warning Tristan to be cautious of the hybrids.
"Alright. I think we are safe as long as we have this barrier. They don't have magical powers to destroy it!" Tristan confidently said as he let out a soft chuckle.
But the elite fighters behind him were already getting ready to fight. They heightened their senses as if they were bracing themselves for the upcoming fight.
"They also have psychic and telepathic skills that can allow them to communicate with other animals or even insects. They can summon and control other animals and creatures, commanding them in battles!" One healer spoke up from behind, telling Tristan more about the unique abilities of the hybrids.
She had just finished saying those words when they heard a chaotic sound. The buzz of flying insects and the patter of running animals approaching them echoed around them. Those insects and animals were already inside the barrier and the hybrids used their psychic abilities to gather and summon those animals and insects in one place, attacking Tristan and his comrades.
Swarms of insects buzzed with frenzied determination, their tiny forms darkening their surroundings as they swooped and darted with lethal intent. Meanwhile, larger and four-legged animals charged forward, their muscles rippling with raw power as they lunged at Tristan and his allies with a ferocious attack.
"Oh! The bunnies are so cute. I can't hurt innocent animals. They are being controlled!" Tristan blurted out as he watched the group of animals charging in their location.
The elite fighters behind him who could cast spells started to chant. Some of them formed little barriers to protect their comrades from the assault of the raging animals and insects while some of them cast a sleeping spell to stop those animals from attacking them.
FaMo, on the other hand, unleashed his fireballs, scaring the animals from getting near them, including the flying insects. They would get burned if they crossed the black fires.
"FaMo! Don't roast them. They are being controlled!" Tristan pleaded to protect those poor animals.
"I know!" FaMo responded, rolling his eyes skyward.
While Tristan's group engaged in a fierce struggle against the swarming creatures and insects, the hybrids turned their attention to the barrier, intent on destroying it with a combination of brute force and supernatural abilities.
With each resounding impact, the barrier trembled under the force of the hybrids' assault. Their powerful blows echoed through the air, accompanied by the dull thud of fists and the crackling energy of unleashed abilities.
Bang! Bang!
Thud~ Thud~
The rhythmic pounding continued– a relentless onslaught that threatened to breach the barrier. With every blow, the barrier weakened, its protective aura flickering ominously as the hybrids pressed their advantage with unwavering determination.
Tristan noticed that the barrier would be destroyed if he would let the hybrids attack it using their brute force.
"We have to do something, FaMo!" Tristan called FaMo's attention. "Is teleporting outside the barrier possible?" he asked FaMo.
FaMo nodded in confirmation. "That's correct. If you're inside the barrier, you can teleport out. However, once you're outside, you won't be able to teleport back in," FaMo clarified, outlining the teleportation dynamics to Tristan in the presence of the barrier.
"Okay. I understand. FaMo, let's go outside and deal with the hybrids! We need to knock them down before they break this barrier. We have to protect the healers and those guardian warriors." Tristan made his decision. He would rather face those hybrids alone to protect the other guardian warriors.
"Good judgment, Tristan. I've been waiting for your command. I also want to do that!" FaMo grinned from ear to ear. He was also dying to fight those hybrids to test his current strength and power.
"I also want to see if your training will be paid off. I wonder if your skills have improved or not. Show me what you've got, Tristan." FaMo challenged Tristan. FaMo had been honing Tristan's skills and abilities for the past few years. He taught him how to control his power.
Aside from fighting and having a sparring session with Zhen-Zhen, he hadn't seen Tristan fight for real yet. This was an opportunity to showcase what he learned from FaMo.
Tristan and FaMo stood side by side, their resolve unwavering as they prepared to confront the horde of hybrids outside the barrier.
"Let's do this, FaMo!"
With a shared nod, they activated their teleportation abilities, vanishing from the safety of the barrier in an instant and arriving outside.
With combined strength and speed, FaMo and Tristan moved in a swift motion as they both leaped into action. Instead of attacking the hybrids head-on, they focused on disarming them and incapacitating them with non-lethal force. His strikes were calculated and aimed to disarm and subdue rather than kill them.
FaMo informed Tristan about the weak points of the hybrids to ensure that their actions minimized collateral damage. Tristan utilized FaMo's lightning speed as he moved from one target to another. FaMo used fireballs to distract the hybrids, diverting their attention away from Tristan.
Together, Tristan and FaMo formed a formidable team. They moved with synchronized precision, their movements complementing each other seamlessly. Half an hour later, Tristan and FaMo's strategy emerged victorious against the army of hybrids. They succeeded in knocking them down without casualties.
The animals and insects stopped attacking their comrades when the hybrids fell unconscious. The guardian warriors who fought alongside Tristan were surprised to find out that Tristan teleported outside to fight those hybrids alone.
"Have you seen it? I thought he was just a human with no supernatural power?" One guardian warrior was amazed as he watched Tristan, his eyes filled with admiration.
"Hey, I heard that the Demon God bestowed his power to the husband of the demon god's daughter! This guy possessed the power of the demon god! He is a formidable opponent! I'm so glad that he is on our side!"
The guardian warriors continued to talk about Tristan and FaMo while the two were busy binding the unconscious hybrids to immobilize them completely.
"Hey, stop gossiping. We should help them. Let's do the binding spell to tie those unconscious hybrids. We can't afford to fight them once again if they wake up."
Before long, the guardian warriors sprang into action, swiftly assisting Tristan and FaMo in subduing the hybrids. Working together, they expertly bound the hybrids, ensuring that they would remain incapacitated even after regaining consciousness. With skilled precision, they secured the hybrids, preventing them from posing any further threat.
"Team! Let's wrap this up so that we can support your comrades from the western and eastern sides!" Tristan took the lead.
What do you think?
